Pets Steal The Show At Talent Contest

One of the more impressive sights at the Henry County's Got Talent-Pet Version show Saturday was Reddick, the 280 pound Mastiff owned by Dennis Irby, top. With Irby was his granddaughter, Lauren Johnson. (McFarlin photo).

Paris, Tenn.-If you love pets, the Henry Co. Fair was the place to be Saturday morning for the Henry County’s Got Talent-Pet Version show. Dozens of four-legged critters and their people were on hand for the show, which featured an impressive assortment of tricks both by the pets and the owners.
Sponsored by the Mineral Wells Animal Clinic, the show featured several categories, including Most Original Costume, Most and Least Obedient, Terrific Pet Tricks, Best Kid-Pet Team and Best Tail Wagging.
The pets displayed a wide variety of talents, from lying down and playing dead to break-dancing and the costumes included everything from feather boas and sunglasses to showgirl outfits.
The show attracted a wide range of pets, with everything from a 280-pound Mastiff to a long-haired chihuahua and everything in between. There was even a funny bunny.

The judges' favorite was Blaze, a black pit bull who cuddled with his owner all morning. Blaze also won least obedient/most loved.

Pets and their people watched the action during the show. (McFarlin photo).

Kiddie Tractor Pull and Cowboy Olympics Big Hits at the County Fair

Pulling the heavy sled in the Kiddie Tractor Pull requires a lot of determination.

(Alex AuBuchon photos)

Many competed in activities such as the hay bale stacking contest Wed. night.

Since it was too hot to dress sheep, contestants dressed one of their teammates entirely in women's clothing. Pictured here are the Sheep Herders, who narrowly missed defending their gold medal from last year.

A wheelbarrow slalom comprised one of the legs of the Cowboy Olympics relay.

One member of each Cowboy Olympics team had to rope this dummy steer before advancing.

Fairest of the Fair Shelby Beloate (L) signs up Third Maid Brigitte Passman (C), Fourth Maid Hannah McFadden (R), and First Maid Laura Nash (not pictured) to participate in the Cowboy Olympics.
