Kate Rainey

Kate Rainey, 99, Cottage Grove, died Friday morning at Eiffel Gardens. Rainey was a long-time Henry County educator.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at McEvoy Funeral Home. Visitation at the funeral home will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday.

Memorials may be made to the Cottage Grove Church of Christ.

Susie Emma Myers

Susie Myers, 82, Burleson, Texas, died July 3 in Fort Worth. She is a former Henry Countian. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 9 at Ridgeway Funeral Home, with burial in Olive Branch Cemetery.


Hazel Taylor-Gibbs

Hazel Taylor-Gibbs, 71, Paris, died July 5 at Plumley Rehab Center, Paris. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday at Ridgeway Funeral Home, with burial in Sanders Chapel Cemetery, Union City.

She married Clifford Taylor and he preceded her in death.

Survivors include two daughters, Vicki Eason, Henry; Lisa Lewis, Paris; step-daughter Pat McClure, Paris; step-sons Jerry Taylor, Paris; and David Taylor, Memphis, and a sister Ann Hooper, Union City, plus numerous grandchildren.


Roy Foster

Roy N. “Fozz” Foster, age 66, of Hollow Rock, TN., died Thursday, July 4, 2013, at Henry County Medical Center in Paris, Tenn. He was a Certified Auto Body Mechanic and Retired Maintenance Supervisor of Carroll Co. E911 Dept.

He was the son of the late Marvin Foster and the late Annie Cumie Cook Foster.

He is survived by: Daughter-Lecrisha (Paul) Brinkley of Bells, TN; Son-Jason (Jackie) Foster of Paris, TN; Special Friend, Martha Williams of Huntingdon TN; Grandchildren, Kristen Douglas, Hayley Brinkley, Hunter Brinkley, Courtney Cobb, Kimberley Cobb, Kahlan Foster, Luke Foster and Ryan Foster.

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St. - P.O. Box 788, Paris, TN. Visitation will be 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM Saturday, July 6, 2013. Funeral service will be at LeDon Chapel Ridgeway Funeral Home at 2:00 PM Saturday, July 6, 2013 , Joe Abbott will officiate. Interment will be at New Hope Cemetery in Hollow Rock, Tenn.

Pallbearers will be Mike Clark, Dennie Wayne Kee, Anthony McMackins, Jimmy Lowe, and Dwight Bullington. Jimmy Turner will serve as an honorary Pallbearer.

Jeanette Flatt

Dale Jeanette Flatt, 69, Paris, died July 2 at her residence. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, with burial in Memorial Cemetery. Ridgeway Funeral home is in charge of arrangements.

She married Joe Flatt and he survives with two daughters, Angela Todd, Palmersville; Tamara Ellison, Paris; three sons, Chris Flatt, Paris; Mickey Meredith, Hazel; RIcky Meredith, Puryear; two brothers, Joey Scott, Clarksville; Allen Gargus, Buchanan; 13 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be directed to The Flatt Family, in care of Ridgeway Funeral Home, PO Box 788, Paris.

Robert Kirstein

Robert Kirstein, 34, Paris, was dead on arrival June 30 at Henry County Medical Center following a car accident in Paris. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Ridgeway Funeral Home, with burial at RoseLawn Memory Gardens.

He was employed for 16 years at KenLake Foods, Murray.

He is survived by his wife, Terri Knott Kirstein, father, David of Illinois; two daughters Jordan and Brooklyn Kirstein, both of Paris; son Tyler Kirstein, Paris; two step-sons, Skyler Chandler and Colton Witherspoon, both of Paris; and three brothers, who live in Illinois.


Jerry Bruce Collins

Jerry Bruce Collins lived a wonderful life and departed on June 26, 2013 at his home with his wife and two daughters always at his bedside loving and caring for him through this journey. He was a precious husband and father who will be sadly missed and he never let the disease of cancer conquer his spirit.

Jerry Bruce Collins served 42 years with the National Guard, 34 of those years were full time service. He was dedicated and proud to serve our country and honored to be associated with the other guardsman and their families. He will be missed but like a ship going out to sea, he is leaving one place to go to another. He will be patiently waiting with his late son Jerry Ward Collins for all of his loved ones to join him.

Funeral Services will be 2:00 PM Sunday, June 30, 2013 at McEvoy Funeral Home with visitation on Saturday, June 29, 2013, from 4:00 – 7:00PM and after 12:00 noon on Sunday. Burial will be in the Poplar Grove Cemetery.

Bro. Randy Turner, Cedar Grove Church of Christ will officiate, serving as pallbearers are Cecil Garner, Charlie Brown, Paul Carney, Teddy Wade, David McAlpin and Eddie Kent.

Jerry Bruce leaves behind his wife Cookie Collins of Palmersville, Tennessee, two daughters Lisa (Mike) Hubbard of Camden, Tennessee and Christie (Mike) Suratt of Gleason, Tennessee. He also leaves his beloved companion, his little dog Jenna and special neighbors Cecil and Lynda Garner and Robbie Hodges. He also leaves two sisters, Judy Harper of Florida and Betty Jean (Pat) Sullivan of New Mexico.

Mr. Collins has 6 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded by his parents E.B. “Buck” and Jessie Collins, his son Jerry Ward Collins and granddaughter Charley Canady.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to: Carroll County Humane Society, P.O. Box 384, 396 Euclid Avenue, McKenzie, Tennessee 38201 for their building fund in memory of Jerry Bruce Collins.

Avary Noelle Byars

Avary Byars, 13, Murray, died June 23 at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Union Grove Missionary Church, Puryear, with burial at the church. Trinity Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

She was a student at Murray High School.

Survivors are her parents, Marceralle Byars, Puryear and Rebecca Carter, Murray; stepparents Chrystal Byars, Puryear and Grady Carter, Murray; and local grandfather Joseph Williams of Paris.


Ronald Kennedy

Ronald Kenndy, 65, Paris, died at his residence June 24. McEvoy Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. The body will be cremated, with no services at this time.

Survivors include his parents Douglas and Rose Kennedy; his wife, Margaret; daughters Tina Brussell and Kim Adams of Michigan; sons Ronnie and Brian of Michigan and his brother, Terry, S.C.

He worked at GM in Detroit for many years.

Mike Hartsfield

Mike Hartsfield, 48, Paris, died June 25 at Vanderbilt Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at McEvoy Funeral Home, with burial in Shady Grove Cemetery.

Survivors include his parents, Don Hartsfield, Nashville; and Sue Carter, Paris; his wife, Christi; daughter Brandi of Fort Benning, Ga.; son Jordan, Paris.

He worked at Three Rivers Trucking.


Andrew "Andy" Bass

Andy Bass of Paris, died Monday, June 24, at Henry County Medical Center. Bass worked for both the Henry County Sheriff's Office and Paris Police Department, retiring from the police department in 2012 as evidence officer.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at Ridgeway Funeral Home, with cremation to follow.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce; parents Harold and Allie Bass, Sr., Paris; daughter Lisa Ashley, Paris; sons Dennis, Oakland; and Donnie, Paris; sister Melody Long, Paris; brothers Harold Bass Jr., Henry; and Bobby Bass, Henderson.

He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. He was an avid gas station and Coke memorabilia collector. He was the subject of a Paris! magazine profile.

Anna Wengerd

Anna Wengerd, 85, Cottage Grove, died at her residence June 25. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Calvary Christian Fellowship, Jones Bend Rd., with burial in New Boston Cemetery.

Her husband, Noah, preceded her in death.

Survivors include her daughters Sarah Hostetler, Cottage Grove; Martha Esh, Charlotte; sons David, Lamar, Mo.; Andy, Paris; Daniel, Greensburg, Ky.; and Paul, Paris.

She was a member of Bethel Fellowship Church, Cottage Grove.

Darwin Werz

Darwin Werz, 66, Buchanan, died Saturday, June 22, at Paris Healthcare. A Celebration of Life will be held at Paris Landing Senior Citizen Center from 1-4 p.m. Saturday, with cremation to follow.

He married Margaret Manley Werz, who survives with a daughter, Cynthia Jones, Speedway, Ind.; sister Deborah Reese, Roanoke; and two grandchildren.
