Mary Lois Emerson Wilson

Mary "Lois" Emerson Wilson age 90 of Paris, Tennessee passed away Thursday, August 31, 2017 at the Henry County Medical Center. Her funeral service is scheduled 2:00 P.M. Sunday, September 3, 2017 at McEvoy Funeral Home with Bro. Mike Wimberley of Olive Branch United Methodist Church officiating. Pallbearers are Jimmy McClure, Dennis McClure, Tobe Spain, Jessie Wilson, Dale Robertson and Frank Wynn; Honorary Pallbearers: Jim Olive and Jimmy Emerson. Visitation will be held at McEvoy on Saturday, September 2, 2017 from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. and again on Sunday after 1:00 P.M. until service.

Mrs. Wilson was born on November 30, 1926 in Cottage Grove, Tennessee to the late Fleetwood Emerson and Cecil Olive Emerson. She married Gordon Emerson on February 9, 1952 and he preceded her in death on January 6, 1984.

Lois married Guy N. Wilson on January 20, 2001 and he survives in Paris. She is also survived by step daughter: Sherry (Dale) Robertson of Texas; step son: Larry (Connie) Wilson of Paris; step grandchildren: Kenny (Tabitha) Robertson, Jennifer (C.D.) Rhoton, and Amanda Robertson, Amy (Tobe) Spain and Laurie Parrish; step great-grandchildren: Landon Spain; Kaitlyn, Fletcher, and Braden Robertson; Christian, Abby, Emma, and Eli Rhoton; cousins: Jim Olive, Jimmy and Cynthia Tubbs all three of Paris.

Mrs. Wilson is also preceded in death by her cousins: Thomas and Margaret Housden. She was a 1945 graduate of Cottage Grove High School. Lois soon moved to Michigan where she worked as a secretary at Wayne County General Hospital. She retired in that capacity in April of 1983 and moved back to Tennessee in 1985.

Jerry Blazek

Mr. Jerry Blazek age 67 of Paris, Tennessee passed away Sunday, August 27, 2017 at his residence. His body is to be cremated and a "Celebration of Life" will be held for Jerry on Sunday, September 3, 2017 from 11:00 A.M. until 4:00 P.M. at 312 Lee Street in Paris.


Jerry was born in Chicago, Illinois to the late Anton Blazek and Anna Moravac Blazek. He is survived in death by his daughters: Kim Larios of Paris and Tracy (Tony) Katzmarek of Bruceton; his son: Brad (Susan) Blazek of Buchanan; one sister and two brothers; grandchildren: Shane Johnson, Gracie Ortega, Martin Moreno, Alex Katzmarek, Gabby Monroe, Matthew Katzmarek, Amanda Blazek, Sammy Larios, and Karlee Katzmarek; great-grandchildren: Avery and Lillian Monroe.

Ronnie Nash

Ronnie Earl Nash, age 73 of Paris, TN, died Thursday, August 31, 2017, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital in Jackson, TN.

 

He was the owner and operator of Lighthouse Trucking in Paris, TN.  He volunteered his time hauling the Henry County High School Marching Patriots Band equipment to competitions.  He enjoyed trucking and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.  He was member of New Bethel Baptist Church in Paris, TN. 

 

Ronnie was born July 1, 1944, in Murray, KY, to the late James Nash and the late Clara Farris Nash. 

 

He was married January 28, 1996, to Carol Nash, who survives, of Paris, TN.

 

Along with his wife, he is also survived by four children, Ronda (Heath) Shelton of Hazel, KY, Michael Nash of Paris, TN, Jennifer (Mike) Patterson of Dickson, TN, and Amy (Joshuah) Jones of Logansport, LA; two brothers, Gerry (Penny) Nash of Smyrna, TN, and David (Kim) Nash of Houston, TX; eight grandchildren, Austen Shelton, Jesse Shelton, Wyatt Shelton, Sydney Shelton, Loren Jaylye Patterson, Adelyn Patterson, Gary Lane McClain, and Kailey Wylie.

 

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St, Paris, TN.  Visitation will be Saturday, September 2, 2017, from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm, with the funeral service beginning at 2:00 pm at LeDon Chapel of Ridgeway Funeral Home, with Rev. Micheal Barnhart officiating.

 

Pallbearers for the service will be Austen Shelton, Jesse Shelton, Gary Lane McClain, Mike Patterson, Heath Shelton, and Joe Walker.  Serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be Joshuah Jones, James Ward, Gerry Nash, Horace Whitehead, Dwayne Alexander, David Nash, David Stewart, Bobby Nichols, and Josh Sowell.

 

Burial will follow the service in Memorial Cemetery in Paris, TN.

 

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, or, to the Henry County High School Marching Patriots Band. 

Larry Moore

Lawrence “Larry” Moore, age 80, died Friday, August 25, 2017, at the St. Thomas West Hospital in Nashville, TN.

Born April 20, 1937, in Pueblo, Colorado, he was the son of the late Lewqinlus “Quin” Moore and the late Wilhelmina “Winnie” Sindermann Moore. Larry married Sandra Crockett Moore March 29, 1970, who survives and lives in Paris.

He retired from the United States Air Force after serving 20 years. Larry owned and operated Larry Moore and Associates, a consulting firm for business improvement. Larry was a published author of several books and a column writer for the Paris Post Intelligencer for over 10 years. He was a member of the First Christian Church.

Besides his wife, survivors include two daughters: Susan Moore of Denver, CO and Summer Moore and husband Tony Glazer of New York, New York; two brothers: Robert “Bob” Moore of Pueblo, CO and Quinn Moore, Jr. of Westminster, CA and his beloved cat Mini.

Along with his parents, Larry was preceded in death by a sister: Betty Lou Samarin.

The body is to be cremated with a memorial service to be held at a later date.

Dolly Kinsland

Dolly "DA" Kinsland, age 83, died Friday, August 25, 2017, at the Henry County Medical Center ER.

Born April 21, 1934, in Parma, MO, she was the daughter of the late Bryon Grimsley and the late Clara Elizabeth Ramsey Grimsley.

Dolly enjoyed giving gifts and riding four wheelers. She loved to eat out, knit and crochet. She was a member of the Order Eastern Star.

Dolly was married to Fred Hugh Kinsland on October 30, 1965, and he preceded her in death on February 18, 1993.

She is survived by her two sons, Burt Kinsland of Gallatin, TN and Thomas “Tom” (Debbie) Kinsland of Paris; eleven grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren.

Besides her husband and parents, Dolly was also preceded in death by her daughter Theresa Collins.

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St, Paris, TN where visitation will be Wednesday, August 30, 2017, from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. A graveside service will be held Monday, August 30, 2017 at 1:30 p.m. at Shady Grove Cemetery with David Austin officiating. 

Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Burial will follow in Shady Grove Cemetery in Paris, TN.

Kathleen Walsh

Ms. Kathleen “Kat” Fay Walsh, age 60 of Camden, TN passed away Sunday, August 20, 2017 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital. Ms. Walsh was born September 30, 1956 in Salamanca, NY to the late Wallace Calkins.  She was, also preceded in death by her first husband: Michael Yurcic, a brother: Henry Calkins. She loved sewing and spending time with her friends. Ms. Walsh was a former employee at the former Exxon in Camden, TN.

Survived by: Son: Eric Yurcic of Wellsville, NY. Daughters: Nicole (James) Roberts of Georgia, Cassandra Ann Walsh of Paris, TN and Taylor Ann Spicer of Camden, TN.

Grandchildren: Donnie, Leslie, Jasmine, Garrett, Mariah, Bradley, James, David and Addison

Memorial Services will be held on Tuesday, August 29, 2017 at 1 pm at the Oakdale Funeral Home Chapel with Father Anthony Onyekwe officiating.

Visitation with the Walsh family will be on Tuesday, August 29, 2017 from 12:00-1:00 pm.

Pauline Spaulding

Pauline Carter Spaulding, age 98, of Paris, died Saturday, August 26, 2017, at the Paris Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.

Born December 6, 1918, in Paris, she was the daughter of the late William Charlie Carter and the late Ruth Foust Carter.

Pauline was a member of Fairview Baptist Church for 65 years, where she taught children’ Sunday School Classes and was very active in other aspects of her church. She formerly worked at the A.C. variety store in Paris.

Pauline was married to Richard E. “Dick” Spaulding on November 26, 1936, and he preceded her in death on February 14, 2006.

Survivors include her daughter: Dixie Hines of Paris, TN; one niece Janet LaFave of Athens, GA; a great nephew, Trey LaFave of Atlanta, GA; and a special caregiver and friend Andrea Caldwell of Paris, TN.

Besides her husband and parents, Pauline was also preceded in death by her sister, Earline Williams.

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St, Paris, TN where visitation will be Sunday, August 27, 2017 from 4 p.m. – 6 p.m. and continue on Monday, August 28, 2017 from 12 p.m. – 12:30 p.m.  A graveside service will be held Monday, August 28, 2017 at 1 p.m. at Oak Hill Cemetery with Johnathan Smith officiating.

Janice Britton

Janice Dale Britton, age 74 of Gleason, TN, died Thursday, August 24, 2017, at Weakley County Nursing Home in Dresden, TN. 

 

She was a member of Jolley Springs Baptist Church.  She worked as a waitress for several years in Paris, TN, and also formerly worked at H.I.S. in Gleason, TN.  She enjoyed flowers, reading and watching TV.

 

Janice was born October 25, 1942, in Trenton, TN, to the late Zack Grant Harrison and the late Maurine Halbrook Harrison. 

 

She was married to Jerry Moody, who survives, of Gleason, TN.

 

Along with her husband, she is also survived by one daughter, Sherry Lynn (Jimmy) Price of Gleason, TN; two sons, Ben Britton of Jackson, TN, and Christian Ashlar of Martin, TN; one sister, Deloris Love of Buchanan, TN; one brother, John D. Harrison of Buchanan, TN; two grandchildren, Amy Renee (Randy) Mallard, and James Brandon (Danielle) McClanahan III; and two great grandchildren, Kasey Ellis and Eli McClanahan.

 

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by one infant daughter, Teresa Ann Moody; and one brother, Joseph Harrison.

Betty Godfrey

Bettie Compton Godfrey, age 87 of Vestavia Hills, AL and longtime resident of Paris, TN, died Wednesday, August 23, 2017.

Bettie was a member of Vestavia Hills Baptist Church.  She was a former Music teacher in the Paris Special School District.   She taught private piano lessons for many years to countless young people.  She played piano and organ at First Baptist Church, Maplewood Baptist, First Christian and First Presbyterian Church all in Paris.  Bettie enjoyed playing in a trio for several years with Monte VanDyck and Joe Routon. 

Bettie was born October 27, 1929 in Burlington, NC to the late Judson R. Compton and the late Maude Burke Compton. 

Bettie was married to Blake Godfrey, Sr. on June 27, 1953 and he preceded her in death on January 2, 1995.  She is survived by her daughter, Meg (Ray) Hyde of Vestavia Hills, AL; two grandchildren, Marty (Mandi) Waddell, III, and Catie Wolfe; and six great grandchildren, Maddison Waddell, Raven Waddell, Violet Waddell, Wesley Waddell, IV, Amelia Wolfe, and Zoe Wolfe. 

Besides her husband and parents, Bettie was also preceded in death by her son, Blake Godfrey, Jr.

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St, Paris, TN where visitation will be Saturday, August 26, 2017 from 12 – 1 pm.  A graveside service will be Saturday, August 26, 2017 at 1:30 pm at Rose Lawn Memory Garden with Paul Veazey officiating. 

Burial will follow in Rose Lawn Memory Garden in Paris, TN.

Elsie Exner

Elsie Francis Exner, age 90 of Buchanan, TN, died Wednesday, August 23, 2017, at her residence in Buchanan, TN.

She owned and operated Lee’s Dance studio for many years in Downers Grove, IL.  She also lived in Grove City, FL for 40 years.  She enjoyed playing cards, and watching sports, especially soccer and football.  She attended First United Methodist Church in Paris, TN. 

Elsie was born June 30, 1927, in Chicago, IL, to the late Julius Worazek and the late Theresa Burghardt Worazek.

She is survived by one daughter, Bonnie (David) Stiles of Buchanan, TN; two sons, Donnie Exner of Grove City, FL, and Eddie (Debra) Exner of North Port, FL; one sister, Delores (Roger) Colton of North Palm Beach, FL; four grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.

Along with her parents, she was also preceded in death by one brother, Edward Worazek.

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St, Paris, TN.  Arrangements are incomplete at this time and will be announced later.

Further memorial services will be held at Christ Lutheran Church in Englewood, FL, at a later date, with scattering of cremains to follow in the Christ Lutheran Church Memorial Garden.

Johnnie Bickerstaff

Johnnie Ruth Bickerstaff, age 74 of Buchanan, TN, died Tuesday, August 22, 2017, at her residence in Buchanan, TN.

She was a retired paralegal for the former Law Office of Victoria DeBonaventura in Paris, TN.  She loved fishing, working in the yard, and family get-togethers.

Johnnie was born January 9, 1943, in Paris, TN, to the late Johnnie Freeman Davis and the late Margaret Malone Anderson Davis.

She was married June 19, 1982, to Jerry Lloyd Bickerstaff, who survives, of Buchanan, TN.

Along with her husband, she is also survived by one daughter, Tamera Dawn Milam of Granite City, IL; two sons, William Jeff (Mary Ann) Gant of Buchanan, TN, and James Freeman (Paula) Gant of Buchanan, TN; three sisters, Brenda J. Bertschi of Paris, TN, Joy (Greg) Cruse of Hollow Rock, TN, and Carmen (Polo) Benzor of Memphis, TN; one brother-in-law, Bill Reese of Spartanburg, PA; 10 grandchildren; and 20 great grandchildren.

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St, Paris, TN.  The body is to be cremated.   Memorial visitation will be Saturday, August 26, 2017, from 5:00 pm – 6:00 pm at the Bickerstaff Home at 11015 Highway 140 East, Buchanan, TN 38222. A Celebration of Life service will be Saturday, August 26, 2017, at 6:00 pm the Bickerstaff Home in Buchanan, TN, with Chad Kennedy officiating.

Burial of cremains will be in New Beaver Dam Cemetery in Buchanan, TN, at a later date.

Dale Crosno

Dale enjoyed fishing and taking care of his grandchildren.  Before becoming disabled, he had previously worked at Midland Brake.   He was Baptist in faith.

 

Born May 8, 1957, in Chicago, IL, he was the son of Doris Ward, who survives, of Paris, TN.

 

He was married June 20, 1979, to Cynthia Denise “Cindy” Elkins Crosno, who survives, of Paris, TN.  Along with his wife and mother he is also survived by two sons, James Crosno of Paris, TN, and Jonathon Crosno of Paris, TN; two brothers, J.T. (Sherry) Crosno of Paris, TN, and Kerry Neal Crosno of Paris, TN; and seven grandchildren:  Trinity Crosno, Dreyven Crosno, Sophia Crosno, Aubrey Crosno, Korben Crosno, Klover Crosno and Bryson Roberson.  Additional survivors include several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Christina Brown

Christina Brown, age 59 of Paris, TN, died Saturday, August 19, 2017, in Paris, TN.

She enjoyed working with and taking care of flowers and her grandchildren.  She was Catholic by faith.

Christina was born in Raciborz, Poland, to Gerhard Franitza and the late Renate Bialas.

She was married to Seth Thomas Brown III, who preceded her in death in 2003.

She is survived by two daughters, Janice Brown of Paris, TN, and Jasmine Brown and special friend Matthew Frizzell of McKenzie, TN; one son, Seth Thomas Brown IV and special friend Johnna Greene of Paris; three grandchildren, Evalina Frizzell, Karsten Frizzell, and Sean Thomas Brown; and a special friend, Roy Glover of Paris, TN.

Additional survivors include three sisters: Bozena Malyszko, Sabine Malyszko and Irene Malyszko;  and a brother: Karl-Heinz Malyszko.

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St, Paris, TN, where visitation will be Tuesday, August 22, 2017, from 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm, and continue Wednesday August 23, 2017, form 10:00 am – 11:00 am.  The funeral service will be Wednesday, August 23, 2017, at 11:00 am at LeDon Chapel of Ridgeway Funeral Home, with Brian Wimberley officiating.

Brittany Chantal Webb

Ms. Brittany Chantal Webb, 28, of Hollow Rock died Saturday, August 19, 2017, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, August 23, 2017, at Mount Nebo Missionary Baptist Church. Interment will be in Old Pisgah Cemetery in Bruceton.

Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at the church.  

She was born on August 2, 1989, in Jackson to Minister Ronnie and Lisa Milam Webb.

Brittany was a member of Mount Nebo Missionary Baptist Church and a member of Unity Community Choir. She was a student at Central Elementary School in Bruceton and Carroll County Special Learning Center in Huntingdon.
She is survived by her parents, Minister Ronnie and Lisa Webb, Sr., of Hollow Rock; a brother, Ronnie (Tennille) Webb, Jr., of Centerton, AR; maternal grandfather, W.C. Milam of Henry; maternal grandmother, Sarah Anne Johnson Webb of Bruceton; a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Preceding her in death is her maternal grandmother, Betty Williams Milam and paternal grandfather, Rev. J.C. Webb.

Jimmy Harpole

Jimmy Ray Harpole, age 57 of Paris, TN, died Thursday, August 17, 2017, in Paris, TN.

He was self-employed, working in construction for many years.  He enjoyed the game of pool, golfing, fishing, and spending time with his close friends.  He was Baptist in faith.

Jimmy was born September 18, 1959, in Mayfield, KY, to the late Herman Ray Harpole and the late Berlene Diel Harpole.

He was married April 2, 1995, to Vonda Bozarth Harpole, who preceded him in death on December 18, 2014.

He is survived by three sisters, Teresa Reed of Mayfield, KY, Rena (Eric) Young of Sedalia, KY, and Lisa Parrish of Texas; an uncle, James Curtis “Curt” Harpole of Mayfield, KY; and several nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents and wife, he was also preceded in death by one sister, LaDonna James; and one brother, Terry Harpole. 

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St, Paris, TN. 

The body is to be cremated with a graveside memorial service planned for a later date.

Joan Cain

Former Henry Countian, Joan Marie Cain, age 80 of Nashville, TN, died Wednesday, August 16, 2017, at Alive Hospice in Nashville, TN.

Visitation will be next Sunday, August 27, 2017, from 1:00 pm - 1:45 pm at Ridgeway Funeral Home in Paris, TN.

A graveside service will be held next Sunday, August 27, 2017, at 2:00 pm at Maplewood Cemetery in Paris, TN, with burial to follow.

Kenneth Gray

Kenneth Nelson Gray, age 81 of Paris, TN, died Thursday, August 17, 2017, at Henry County Medical Center in Paris, TN.

He worked as a Quality Control Supervisor at Holley Carburetor Plant for 32 years.  He then was employed at Henry County Medical Center where he worked in maintenance until he retired.  He was formerly in the National Guard.  He was a member of Bethesda United Methodist Church, the Springville Masonic Lodge, and the Order of the Eastern Star.  He enjoyed golf, fishing, dove hunting, playing cards and was a life-long blood donor.

Kenneth was born October 22, 1935, in Springville, TN, in the Old 23rd District, to the late Edmond Gray and the late Beulah McDaniel Gray.

He was married November 25, 1958 to Joyce Turner Gray, who preceded him in death on December 3, 2012.

He is survived by one son, Tracy (Debbie) Gray of Paris, TN; five grandchildren, Candi (Gervis) Gallimore, Jason Madden, Riley Gray, Ross Gray, and Lacey (Jordan) Smith; and four great grandchildren, Kaine Gallimore, Kaden Weaver, Kenslee Weaver, and Kolton Smith.

Along with his parents and wife, he was also preceded in death by one son, Mike Gray; and several brothers and sisters.

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St, Paris, TN, where visitation will be Saturday, August 19, 2017, from 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm, with a Masonic Service to begin at 7:00 pm.  Visitation will continue Sunday, August 20, 2017, from 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm at Ridgeway Funeral Home.  The funeral service will be Sunday, August 20, 2017, at 2:00 pm at LeDon Chapel of Ridgeway Funeral Home.

Judy Hibner

Judy Ann Hibner, age 59 of Paris, TN, died Wednesday, August 16, 2017, in Paris, TN.

She was a former caregiver to her mother until her death in September 2016.  She was a great cook, loved her grandchildren, and animals, especially her special dog, Annie.  

Judy was born October 6, 1957, in Lawrence, KS, to the late Donald Robert Hibner, Sr., and the late Anna Mae Weeks Hibner.

She is survived by one daughter, Brandy (Tracy) Powers of Mary Esther, FL; one son, Daniel Robert (Carole) Basel of Lompoc, CA; two sisters, Diana Dillon of Baldwin, KS, and Donna Hibner of Branson, MO; one brother, Donald Robert “Rob” Hibner, Jr.; and five grandchildren, Brittany Powers, Tyler Powers, Jackalyn Powers, Nicholas Basel, and Noah Basel.

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St, Paris, TN.  The body is to be cremated with no public services planned.

Laverne Freeland

Laverne Mildred H. Freeland, age 85 of Herrin IL, died Tuesday, August 15, 2017, at Herrin Hospital in Herrin, IL.

 

She was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy in Paris, TN.  She retired as the manager of Pic N Pay Shoes in both Paris and Clarksville, TN.

 

Laverne was born December 23, 1931, in Caraway, AR, to the late O.R. Hogan and the late Verna Lloyd Hogan.

 

She was married September 15, 1951, to Robert E. Freeland, who preceded her in death on July 22, 2003.

 

She is survived by one son, Dr. B. Steven (Dr. Cynthia) Freeland of Johnson City, IL; one daughter, Sharon (Tommy) Moore of Clarksville, TN; one sister Athelene Virginia Grimes of Albuquerque, NM; one sister-in-law, Juanita Freeland of Paris, TN; five grandchildren, Branden Freeland, Joe Abbott, Jr., Shari Michael, Brea Sherman, and Tiffiney Tabler; 12 great grandchildren, Tyler Abbott, Justin Michael, Matthew Abbott, Landyn Matthews, Wyatt Freeland, Sam Tabler, Branley Sherman, Briana Freeland, Jessica Michael, Madeline Freeland, MacKenzie Tabler, and Lani Sherman; and two great-great grandchildren, Parker Freeland and Oliver Feverston.

 

Along with her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by two sisters, Louise Swensen and Betty Baxter.  

 

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St, Paris, TN, where visitation will be Saturday, August 19, 2017, from 10:00 am – 1:00 pm.  The funeral service will be Saturday, August 19, 2017, at 1:00 pm at LeDon Chapel of Ridgeway Funeral Home with Roger Smith officiating.

 

Pallbearers for the service will be Tyler Abbott, Justin Michael, Branden Freeland, Matthew Abbott, Joe Abbott, Jr., Josh Tabler, Jessica Michael, and Sam Tabler.

Emma Coulter

Ms. Emma Lee Coulter, 73, of Paris died Friday, August 11, 2017, at Centennial Hospital in Nashville.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, August 19, 2017, at Progressive Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.

Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. on Saturday at the church.

Emma Lee Coulter was born December 22, 1943, to Hazel Coulter Bell in Flint, Michigan.

Emma attended Flint Schools in Flint, Michigan. She went back to school to become a LPN with the State of Tennessee. Emma accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior many years ago. She was a member of Progressive Baptist Church. Emma was employed by United Steelworkers of America and Life Care of Bruceton, Tennessee as a LPN. She was an officer of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit #164.

Emma loved crossword puzzles and putting puzzles together when she wasn’t caring for people, which she loved to do. She loved fishing.

Emma was preceded in death by her mother, Hazel Coulter Bell; sisters, Eleanor Coulter and Brenda Chappell; brothers, Willie Coulter, Arthur Boddie and Brian Bell and grandson, Ryan Jones.

Emma leaves behind her son, Travis Coulter of Reno, Nevada; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; five sisters, Winifred Sanders of Saginaw, Michigan, Juanita Golden, Mary Atkins and Yolanda Duke, all of Flint Michigan and Rita Bell of Tulsa, Oklahoma; one brother, Maurice (Vicky) Bell of London, Ohio; best friend and caregiver, George Bass and his sister, Marjorie Sims and entire family; very good friend/sister, Ava Reddick and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Jo Ann Venable

Jo Ann Ables Venable, age 81 of Cottage Grove, TN, died Monday, August 14, 2017, at her daughter’s home in Paris, TN.

 

She was a longtime member of Cottage Grove Church of Christ, and was currently a member of East Wood Church of Christ in Paris, TN.  She formerly worked at Emerson Electric and Salant & Salant in Paris, TN.  She was a hard working woman who loved her family, and enjoyed gardening and fishing.  

 

Jo Ann was born October 9, 1935, in Cottage Grove, TN, to the late Virchel E. Ables and the late Virgie L. Hill Ables.

 

She was married July 23, 1955, to David Franklin “Frank” Venable, who preceded her in death on February 12, 2010.

 

She is survived by her three daughters, Cynthia “Cindy” (Buddy) Barker of Cottage Grove, TN, Rhonda (Ed) Cuthbertson of Paris, TN, and Glenda (Mike) Bryson of Paris, TN; two brothers, Thomas Vethro Ables of Cottage Grove, TN, and Elmo Ables of Martin, TN; two sisters-in-law, Lois Brown of Paris, TN, and Judy Ables of Cottage Grove, TN; seven grandchildren, Traci Barker, Corey Cuthbertson, Adam Cuthbertson, Luke (Kristen) Cuthbertson, Jessica (Michael) McClure, Jennifer Campbell, and Cody Bryson; and eight great grandchildren.

 

Along with her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by one sister, Zelma Bradley; a brother, Clovis Dean Ables, and two brothers in infancy.

 

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St, Paris, TN.  Visitation will be Thursday, August 17, 2017, from 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm at Ridgeway Funeral Home, and continue Friday, August 18, 2017, from 9:00 am – 10:00 am at Cottage Grove Church of Christ in Cottage Grove, TN.  The funeral service will be Friday, August 18, 2017, at 10:00 am at Cottage Grove Church of Christ with John Dale officiating.

 

Pallbearers for the service will be Cody Bryson, Adam Cuthbertson, Luke Cuthbertson, Corey Cuthbertson, Chucky Ables, Ricky Ward, and Nick Bradley.  Honorary Pallbearers will be her great grandchildren.

Emma Coulter

Ms. Emma Lee Coulter, age 73, of Paris died Friday, August 11, 2017, at Centennial Hospital in Nashville.

Funeral services will be conducted at Progressive Baptist Church on Saturday, August 19th at 2pm. Interment will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery .

Friends may call Progressive Baptist Church from 1pm to 2pm on Saturday, August 19th.

Charles Carver

Mr. Charles Roy Carver, age 82 of Paris, passed away Saturday, August 12, 2017 at Henry County Medical Center. His graveside service will be Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Jones Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery with Bro. Randy Stephens officiating.

Visitation will be Tuesday, August 15, 2017 from 4:00-7:00 PM at McEvoy Funeral Home. There will be no visitation on Wednesday. Pallbearers will be Chuck Carver, Jonathan Carver, Christopher Carver, Kendall Sutton, and Tony Hutcherson.

Charles Roy Carver was born on August 23, 1934 in East Lynn, West Virginia to the late Steve R. Carver and the late Otha Adkins Carver. On September 15, 1956 he married June Mills Carver who survives in Paris, Tennessee. He is also survived by a son, Chuck (Kim) Carver of Paris, TN; a sister, Juanita Spurlock of Kenova, WV; three grandchildren: Jonathan Carver, Christopher (Ashley) Carver, and Shelly (Kendall) Sutton; and five great grandchildren: Cooper Carver, Caroline Carver, Madeline Carver, Noah Sutton, and Abigail Sutton.
Besides his parents, he was also preceded in death by a daughter, Teresa C. Arnold; four sisters: Emma Jean Clay, Dorothy Lawson, Evella Webb, and Hester McKean; a brother, Otis Carver; and a grandchild, Jason Arnold.

Mr. Carver was a member of Springhill Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps serving in the Korean War. He retired from TVA as a Public Safety Officer.

Carol Campbell

Carol Butler Campbell, 72, died Friday, August 11, 2017, at the Jackson Madison County General Hospital.

Born June 19, 1945, in Paris, she was the daughter of the late R. K. Butler and the late Jeweldean Haskins Butler.

Carol was Baptist in faith, but attended Vandyke Church of Christ with her sister when her health allowed. She enjoyed reading and feeding the animals in the neighborhood especially cats. She had formerly worked at Mar-kel Lighting and Super D Drug Store.

Survivors include two sisters: Marilyn (Joe) Jackson and Pat Stutzman both of Paris; a niece: Kelley Lassiter of Paris; nephews: Dana Mobley of Williston, MD, and Kyle Dodd of Columbia, TN, a great niece: Hayley Dodd of Columbia, TN ; great nephews:  Clinton Mobley of Paris, Nathan Stephens of Franklin, TN  and Noah Lassiter and one great great nephew: Cameron Mobley.

Along with her parents, Carol was preceded in death by a sister Rita Jean Butler.

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home 201 Dunlap St. Paris, TN 38242, where visitation will be Monday, August 14, 2017, from 11 AM until the funeral time. The funeral service will be held Monday at 1 PM in LeDon Chapel of Ridgeway Funeral Home with Roger Banks officiating.

Burial will follow the service in the Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Cemetery in Buena Vista, TN.

Charlene Carter

Charlene Carter, age 76 of Mansfield, TN, died Thursday August 10, 2017, at her residence in Mansfield, TN.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Paris, TN.  She was the former owner of C & S Wallpaper, and also formerly worked at Paris Florist.  In her earlier years, she was a great seamstress who enjoyed crocheting, knitting, and sewing things of all kinds.  She also enjoyed gardening and was known to have a “green thumb.” 

In her latter years, she developed a love for genealogy, and became very active in the Henry County Archive & Genealogy Library.  She was also the caretaker of Shiloh Cemetery in Mansfield, TN, and was very involved with the cemetery's archives and history.  She was a very caring person, who had a wonderful sense of humor.  She loved and enjoyed her children, grandchildren, and her special puppy dog, Otis.       

She was born in February 17, 1941, in Union City, TN, to the late Thomas Herbert Elmer and the late Edna Walker Elmer. She was married December 19, 1960, to Larry Eulan Carter, who preceded her in death on March 20, 1994.

She is survived by her two sons, Tim Carter of Paris, and Tony (Nancy) Carter of Hopkinsville, KY; one brother, Roy Elmer of Virginia; six grandchildren, Lesley (Brian) McKeon of Clearwater Beach, FL, Sophie Carter of Paris, TN, Will Carter of Paris, TN, Joe (Cora) Carter of Hopkinsville, KY, Jake Carter of Hopkinsville, KY, and Jon Carter of Hopkinsville, KY; and her special puppy dog, Otis.

Tom Sims III

Mr. Tom Sims, III, 67, of Paris died Wednesday, August 9, 2017, at Anna Mae Owens Residential Hospice House in Murray.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, August 12, 2017, at Progressive Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.

Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. on Saturday at the church.

Tom Sims, III was born November 7, 1949, to his late parents, Tom Jr. and Anna Inell Henry Sims, in Paris, Tennessee.

Tom, affectionately known as “Tommy”, was a well outspoken man. Tom attended schools in the Paris-Henry County School System, graduating from Grove High School and attending UT Martin and West Kentucky Vo-Tech. Tom was employed at TVA for thirty-one years as a unit operator and planner. He was a faithful member of Progressive Baptist Church, serving as Chairman of Trustees and former Policy Council Chairman of North West Tennessee Head Start.

Tom left behind to cherish his memories his wife, friend, caregiver and lover, Marjorie Bass Sims, whom he married May 12, 1996; children, Tonya (Boyce) Wilkins, Michael Patrick (Antionette) Jones, Shauna Lynn Sims, Tom (Georgia) Sims IV, Michael (Sheryl) Bush, Kimberly (Phillip) Daniels and adopted daughter, Edith R. Gardner; aunts, Dorothy Cunningham and Brenda Lewis; ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Oma Bass; brother-in-law, George Bass, Jr.; three nieces; two nephews and a host of other relatives, faithful friends and faithful neighbors.

Glenda Ligon

Glenda Fay Ligon age 64 of Paris, Tennessee passed away on Wednesday August 9, 2017 at the Huntingdon Healthcare and Rehab. Her funeral service will be held 2:00 P.M. Saturday August 12, 2017 at McEvoy Funeral Home with Dr. John Smith of Fairview Baptist Church presiding. Burial will follow at Memorial Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled on Saturday after 12:00 P.M. until service time.

Mrs. Ligon was born on June 21, 1953 in Henry County to the late Tuck Younger and Bertha Hamilton Younger. She is survived by her daughter: Lisa Moseley of Paris; two grandchildren: Dustin and Devin Moseley; two sisters: Margaret Ann (Fred) Lingenfelter of Puryear and Linda Younger of Springville; her brother: Jimmy (Sue) Younger, Portage, Indiana; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends. Glenda was formerly married to Don Ligon who also survives. She is also preceded in death by two brothers: Richard and Tommy Younger.

Ms. Ligon was a Baptist by faith who never met a stranger and really enjoyed talking and sharing stories with all she encountered. She had a very enthusiastic personality and always made over any gifts that she received. Glenda also enjoyed music, especially songs from the 70's.

Willis Wynn

Mr. Willis A. Wynn age 94 of Henry, Tennessee formerly of Elkhorn for over 50 years, passed away Wednesday August 9, 2017 at his residence. His funeral service will be held on Friday August 11, 2017, 1:30 P.M. at McEvoy Funeral Home with Gary Collier of First United Methodist Church and Russell Ragsdale of Friendship Baptist Church presiding. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled after 10:00 A.M. on Friday until service time.

Mr. Wynn was born on April 15, 1923 in Henry County to the late Andrew Jackson Wynn and Ivy Alma Lemonds Wynn. He married Ina Mae Franklin Wynn on July 5, 1946 and she survives in Henry.  Willis is also survived by his daughters: Patsy (Phillip) Jackson of Paris and Linda (Ricky D.) Nash of Henry; grandchildren: Lauri Jackson (Mark) Torsak, Cliff Garrett (Nelah) Jackson, Chris Steven Turman, Michael Andrew (Kristin) Turman, Michael Damon (Katie) Nash; great-grandchildren: seven; sisters: Modena Wheatley, Flossie York, Shirley Evans, Lottie Hopper, Margie Nanney, Velma Bolding; former neighbors, church members and special friends: Danny and Katie Williams.  He is also preceded by several sisters and brothers.

Mr. Wynn was a longtime member and Deacon of Friendship Baptist Church. He enjoyed farming, working cattle and coon hunting. Willis was also talented in woodworking and welding, making many dough bowls and yard art for family and friends. A family member said he also really loved playing with his grandchildren.

Emma Jean Turner

Emma Jean Turner, age 83 of Palmersville, TN, died Tuesday, August 8, 2017, at Tennova Healthcare-Regional Hospital in Jackson, TN.

 

She was a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church in Dukedom, TN.  She formerly worked at Walgreens and enjoyed reading.

 

Emma Jean was born May 8, 1934, in Traskwood, AR, to the late Sham Davis and the late Myrtle Doles Davis.

 

She was married August 21, 1972, to Billy Wayne Turner, who survives, of Palmersville, TN.

 

Along with her husband, she is also survived by two daughters, Betty (Thomas) Gilliland of Dukedom, TN, and Dorothy (Leo) Manuel of Montgomery, LA; seven grandchildren; and numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

 

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by one daughter, Debra Green; and one brother, Johnny Davis.

Carlene Norton

Former Henry Countian Mary Carlene Atwood Norton, age 76 of Stone Mountain, GA, died Tuesday, August 8, 2017, at her home in Stone Mountain, GA. 

 

She was born October 25, 1940 in Paris, TN, to the late Carl Atwood and the late Bernice Stewart Atwood Byrd.

 

Carlene was a beautician, worked as a medical assistant, kept birds, and cats, and loved all animals.  She enjoyed cooking and being at home, and was a strong, tough woman.

 

She was married June 11, 1977, to her husband of 40 years, Robert Kent Norton of Stone Mountain, GA.

 

Along with her husband, she is also survived by one daughter, Lori Ann Page of Snellville, GA; two sons, Stephen (Teresa) Page of Puryear, TN, and Michael (Tracey Jackson) Page of Paris, TN; two sisters, Shirley Evans of Paris, TN, and Linda (Robert) Ball of Paris, TN; one brother Robert Eldridge (Tamara Nanney) of Paris, TN; two grandsons, Joshua (Tara) Page of Camden, TN, and Christopher Page of Paris, TN; three great grandchildren, Spencer Page, Xoey Page and Cooper Page; many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

 

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by one great grandson, Gunner Page.

Hollis Thompson

Mr. Hollis W. "Wayne" Thompson age 72 of Paris, Tennessee passed away on Sunday August 6, 2017 at the Henry County Medical Center. His funeral will be 2:00 P.M. Monday August 14, 2017 at McEvoy Funeral Home, conducted by Dr. John Smith of Fairview Baptist Church. Family members and friends will serve as pallbearers. Visitation is scheduled on Monday, after 10:00 A.M. until service time.

Mr. Thompson was born December 7, 1944 in Duncan, Mississippi to the late William Thompson and Lillie Mae Hollis Thompson. He married Deborah G. Marcus Thompson (who survives in Paris) on August 27, 1977. Wayne is survived by three daughters: Tracy Thompson of Jacksonville, Florida, Tanya Thompson (Bruce) Mullins of Chicago, Illinois, and Dawn Thompson Roman of Paris; grandchildren: Alex (Amanda) Thompson, Jared Franklin, Kalynn Mullins, Jessica Roman and Julissa Roman; sisters: Elizabeth Dickerson of Hohenwald, Tennessee and Carol Ann (Bobby) Morgan of Greenville, Kentucky; brothers: Terry Joe (Patty) Thompson of Round Lake Beach, Illinois, Tommy Thompson of Illinois and Steve Thompson of Greenville, Kentucky. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends. He is also preceded in death by his sister: Linda Morales and two brothers: Buddy Thompson and Richard Poer.

Mr. Thompson worked for Rustic Wood Fence Company in Niles, Illinois for 30 years. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. Wayne was all about family, he loved his children, grandchildren and even the neighbor's children. A family member said that no child was ever turned away.

Patsy Peach

Patsy Warren Peach, age 63 of Paris, died Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at her home in Paris.

Patsy was a member of Christ Gospel Church in Camden, TN.  She was a homemaker and formerly worked at Knott’s Landing Resturant in Paris.  She enjoyed fishing and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was born June 16, 1954 in Camden, TN to the late Egbert Vonell “Pat” Warren and the late Dorothy Bell Lewis Warren.

Patsy was married to Charles Ray Peach in 1972 and he survives of Paris, TN.

She is also survived by one daughter, Christina (Isaiah) Ulloa of Puryear, TN; one son, Michael (Carrie) Peach of Paris, TN; three sisters, Judy Yates of Portland, TN, Dell (Deon) Crosser of Paris, TN, and Jane (L.C.) Hollingsworth of Camden, TN; one brother, J.C. (Jennifer) Warren of Camden, TN; two grandchildren, Christian Peach and April Webb both of Paris, TN; and two great grandchildren, Lacy Reed and Leanna Reed.

Besides her parents, she was also preceded in death by one sister, Barbara Woods; and one brother, Phillip Warren.

Kenneth Wright

Kenneth Owen Wright, age 90 of Paris, died Monday, August 7, 2017, at Henry County Medical Center.

He was a retired foreman from Holley Carburetor Plant, farmed for many years and was a member of Palestine United Methodist Church.  Kenneth was a veteran of the US Army, former Captain of the Henry County Rescue Squad and member of the Good Sam’s Camping Club.  He enjoyed camping, fishing and attending dance events.

Born March 17, 1927, in Mansfield, TN, he was the son of the late William Fleetwood Wright and the late Delmar Yarbrough Wright.  He married Cornelia Smith Wright on December 25, 1949 and she preceded in death on May 12, 1997.

Survivors include his two daughters, Brenda Amburgey of Henry, TN, and Bonnie (Steve) Miles of Mission, TX; one son, Roy E. (Janice) Wright of Paris;  two sisters, Peggy Summers and Betty (Wayne) Roberts both of Hollow Rock, TN; and one brother,  Tommy (Patricia) Wright of Scottsboro, AL. 

Additional survivors include ten grandchildren, Amanda (Shane) Flood, Kevin (Beth) Wright, Ken (Donna) Wright, Misty (Billy) Bishop, Deanna (Chris) Carr, Chris (Kelly) Miles, Monique Amburgey, Jennifer Amburgey and special friend Jeremy Clark, Megan Amburgey and Fiance’ Shane Gordon, and Dustin Amburgey;  ten great grandchildren; and 3 great-great grandchildren.

Jimmy Wainscott

Services for Jimmy Dean Wainscott, 74 of Henry, will be held Wednesday, August 9, 2017 at 2:00 pm at Brummitt-McKenzie Funeral Home with Brother Gene Price officiating.  Interment will follow at Tumbling Creek Cemetery near Gleason with U.S. Navy Military Honors. 

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 9, 2017 from 10:30 am until service time.  Mr. Wainscott, retired from the U.S. Navy, died Monday, August 7, 2017 at Henry County Healthcare in Paris.  He was born on May 28, 1943 in Memphis, TN to James L. and Raydeane Brown Wainscott. He attended Tumbling Creek Baptist Church and served in the U.S. Navy with almost 21 years during the Vietnam War.  He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Rick Wainscott. 

Survivors include a daughter Lindsey Leanne Wainscott of Camden, TN, three brothers Jerry Wainscott of McKenzie, Ben Wainscott of Paris, TN, Tom Wainscott of Iowa, and three grandchildren.

Emily Webb, age 20 of Paris, died on Tuesday, July 11th. There will be a memorial service for Emily Webb on Saturday, August 12th at 11am at Jones Chapel Baptist Church, located at 2200 India Road in Paris.

Ida Mae Price

Ida Mae Price, age 78 of Springville, TN, died Friday, August 4, 2017, at Huntingdon Health & Rehab Center in Huntingdon, TN.

She retired from General Electric in Morrison, IL after 28 years of employment.  She enjoyed fishing, NASCAR racing, and sitting on her front porch watching traffic.  She loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Ida was born May 13, 1939, in Sheridan, IN, to the late James Elmer Johnson and the late Hazel Deckert Warburton.

She was married June 2, 1957, to Ronald Paul Price, Sr., who survives, of Springville, TN.

Along with her husband, she is also survived by one daughter, Penny Kennedy of Springville, TN; three sons, Michael (Brenda) Price of Hillsdale, IL, Ronald Price, Jr. of Springville, TN, and James Price of Hillsdale, IL; eight grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by one sister, Leona Ford; and two brothers, Verlin Johnson and Rex Johnson.

Ruth Marie Scott

Ruth Marie Scott, age 71 of Paris, TN, died Tuesday, August 1, 2017, at St. Thomas West Hospital in Nashville, TN.

 

She was a member of Mansfield Baptist Church.  She loved yard sales, flea markets, and enjoyed visiting with people.

 

Ruth was born March 23, 1946, in Paris, TN to the late Edward Lewis and the late Nettie Lewis.

 

She was married April 1, 2015, to John T. Scott, who survives, of Paris, TN.

 

Along with her husband, she is also survived by one daughter, Debbie (Tony) Patterson of Camden, TN; two sons, Bill Baxley of Paris, TN, and Chris Baxley of Paris, TN; two grandchildren, Amber (Josh) Sowell of Camden, TN, and Tyler Patterson of Camden, TN; four great grandchildren, Dacoda Sowell, Dillon Sowell, Haylee Sowell, and Weston Patterson.

 

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by four sisters and one brother.

Marcia Ann Raymer Chilton

Marcia Ann Raymer Chilton, age 42 died Saturday, July 29, 2017, in Springville, TN.

Born August 30, 1974, in Paris, TN,  she was the daughter of Larry and Linda Sue Adkins Raymer of Buchanan.

Marcia enjoyed gardening, animals and being outdoors. She was a homemaker who was a non- denominational  Christian in her faith.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband: Jerry Lee Chilton of Springville, a son:  Jacob Logan Chilton of Springville; three sisters: Ruth (Steve) Goodroe of Jacksonville, FL, Teresa (Dennis) Cherry of Leesville, LA, Tina (Bryon) Raymer-Hall of Springville, TN and a brother : Larry (Daphne) Raymer II of Drummonds, TN.

Additional survivors include a grandmother: Reba Adkins of Lexington, TN and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Pallbearers for the service will be Jerry Chilton, Dennis Cherry, Teresa Cherry, Tina Raymer-Hall, Larry Raymer II, Larry Raymer, Sr.  and Jacob Logan Chilton.

Carolyn Guinn Cagle

Carolyn Guinn Cagle, age 77 of Paris, TN, died Sunday, July 30, 2017 at Henry County Medical Center in Paris. 

She was a graduate of Bethel College in McKenzie, TN and attended First United Methodist Church in Paris.  She was a former manager of Golden Corral and Long John Silver’s restaurants and was a long time team member at Gary’s Discount in Paris. 

Carolyn was born in Paris, TN on May 1, 1940 to the late James “Ham” Guinn and the late Willie Kyle Guinn. 

She was married to Lloyd Cagle in 1969 and he preceded in death in 1978. 

Carolyn is survived by one daughter, Barbara Lynn Cagle of Puryear, TN;  two sons, Grady Cagle of Paris, TN, and Lloyd Cagle of Paris, TN;  two sisters, Barbara Guinn Trexler of North Carolina and Elizabeth Guinn Norwood of Paris, TN;  one grandchild, Samantha Cagle; and her beloved fury friend, Winston.

Donald Bruce Ziegler Sr.

Donald Bruce Ziegler Sr., age 87 of Paris, TN, died Monday, July 31, 2017 at Huntingdon Health and Rehab Center in Huntingdon, TN.

He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Paris, TN, and member of American Legion Ferris Goodridge Post 330 in Spencerport, NY.  He work construction for many years and enjoyed Hunting and fishing.

Donald was born June 16, 1930, in Spencerport, NY, to the late Donald T. Ziegler and the late Dorothy Josephine Diehl Ziegler.

He was married on March 3, 1951 to Lois Jane Yount Ziegler, who preceded him in death on April 1, 2016.

He is survived by one son, Donald Bruce Ziegler, Jr. and life partner Derrick Balsam of East Rochester, NY; two brothers, Gary Robert Ziegler and friend Diane Sealy of Paris, TN, and Richard Lee (Judy) Ziegler of Spencerport, NY; and fifteen nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents and wife, he is preceded in death by two sisters, Joyce Hills and Shirley Vancott.

The body is to be cremated, with a memorial service to be announced as soon as possible.

Brigette Dean

Ms. Brigitte Dean, age 81 of Paris passed away Friday, July 28, 2017 at her daughter's residence. Her body is to be cremated and her memorial service will be Wednesday, August 2, 2017 at McEvoy Funeral Home with Chad Kennedy officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 12:00 noon Wednesday prior to the service.

Brigitte Dean was born February 26, 1936 in Fuerth, Germany to the late Ernst Kreisselmeier and the late Betti Laegel Kreisselmeier. On December 3, 1955 she married Leo G. Dean who preceded her in death on April 2, 1994. She was also preceded in death by a son, Harold Dean on March 29, 2017.

Ms. Dean is survived by a daughter, Cynthia (Bobby) Eaton of Puryear, TN; a son, David (Camy) Dean of Puryear, TN; a daughter-in-law, Rebecca Dean of Poplarville, MS; seven grandchildren: Mick Eaton, Steve Eaton, Keith Eaton, Kyle Eaton, Jennifer Dean, Lindsay Dean, and Olivia Rice; ten great grandchildren: Cody Eaton, Wesley Eaton, Annsley Eaton, Eva Eaton, Lillian Eaton, Jack Eaton, Londyn Rice, Bianca Adams, Bradley Adams, and Jacob Adams.

Ms. Dean was a member of Fairview Baptist Church. She formerly worked at Holley Carburetor and PML in Paris.

Rufus Weatherford

Rufus Lee Weatherford, age 81 of Buchanan, TN, died Thursday, July 27, 2017, at his residence in Buchanan, TN.

 

He worked for Sears as a service repairman for 17 years and at Holly Carburetor Plant until it closed.  He retired after 25 years of service as a maintenance supervisor for Paris Healthcare.  He was a member of Blood River Church of Christ.

 

Rufus was born May 31, 1936, in Buchanan, TN, to the late Will Weatherford and the late Thelma Wilson Weatherford.

 

He was married October 31, 1953, to Fayetta Dodson Weatherford, who survives, of Buchanan, TN.

 

Along with his wife, he is also survived three daughters, Rhonda (Mickey) Thurmond of Buchanan, TN, Kim (Roy) Vassal of Buchanan, TN, and Felicia Weatherford of Paris, TN; two sons, Ricky (Beth) Weatherford of Buchanan, TN, and Kevin Weatherford of Buchanan, TN; eight grandchildren, Summer (Jason) Lampkins, Justin (Leslie) Thurmond, Britnie Vassal and friend Gary Bond, Randi Vassal, Levi (Mindy) Weatherford, Amy (Chris) Davis, Whitney Weatherford, and Amanda Weatherford and friend Patrick Connelly; 15 great grandchildren, Blake Terry, Colter Thurmond, Jack Lampkins, Adelyn Bond, Jensen Pewitt, Eli Webb, Ali Taylor, Ava Taylor, Austin Weatherford, Peyton Weatherford, Jacob Davis, Owen Davis, Alyssa Hudgins, Cameron Connelly, and Jackson Connelly.

 

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by one sister, Uldine Moody; and one brother, Donald Weatherford.

Dorothy B. Hicks

Dorothy B. Hicks, 97, passed away on July 25, 2017. She was the last of thirteen children, born on December 21, 1919 in Dresden, TN and lived the majority of her life in Henry County where she was currently a resident of Paris Health Care Nursing Home and a member of the First United Methodist Church.

Dorothy was a retired CNA and continued working as an in home sitter for the elderly for many years after her retirement.  She loved antiques and older homes. Her favorite television show was “Property Brothers” on HGTV.  More than anything, Dorothy enjoyed a good meal and spending time with friends and family.

Dorothy was predeceased by her parents; James and Lola Gore Hicks; brothers, James Jr., Guy, Carlos and Harold Hicks; sisters, Minnie Alexander, Lexie Grubbs, Aubrey Adams, Ivie Wilson, May Adams, Lubie Prather, Ottie Bell Tilley and Helen Anderson.  She is survived by her loving friends, Geraldean Stevens, Peggy Sims, Meggen, Alden, Collin and Alexander Strickland who all were a blessing to her in her final years; and many nieces and nephews.

The family would also like to thank the staff of Paris Health Care Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for the many years of exceptional care, support and love given to Dorothy over the years.

A Graveside Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 29, 2017 at Sunset Cemetery in Dresden.

Johnathan Fanning

Jonathan Lee “Johnny” Fanning, age 57 of Paris, TN, died Monday, July 24, 2017.

He attended Palestine United Methodist Church. He formerly worked at B & G Equipment in Paris, TN for several years. He was a “jack of all trades” and an avid hunter.

Johnny was born on December 12, 1959, in Jacksonville, FL, to the late James Edward Fanning and the late Sylvia Roney Fanning Dobbs.

He was married June 14, 1994, to Edythe Kathryn Grischbowsky Fanning, who survives, of Paris, TN.

Along with his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Jennifer Lynn (Daniel) Houtari of Michigan, and Jessica Lee (Miguel) Caraballo of Colorado; one son, Jonathan Levi Fanning of Paris, TN; three brothers, James Edward Fanning of Paris, TN, William Joel (Lola) Fanning of San Antonio, TX, and Steven Dobbs of Tyler, TX; three grandchildren; and step-father, Randy Dobbs of Tyler, TX.

Pamela “Pam” Sue Lewis, age 61, died Saturday. July 22, 2017, at her residence in Stewart, TN.

Born August 15, 1955, in Defiance, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Eli Carl Font and the late Geraldine Willitzer Font. She was formerly a LPN at the Manor House in Dover, TN.

Pam attended the Leatherwood Church, where she sang in the choir and attended a bible study/craft group on Thursdays.  She enjoyed crocheting, hunting and fishing.  She loved her dog Gidget, the Christmas holiday, cooking cookies, fudge and peanut brittle at Christmas.

She was married October 4, 1979 to Arthur Duane Lewis, Sr., who preceded her in death on August 13, 2016.

She is survived by two daughters, Sonia (Merl) Ensing of Clarksville, TN, and Kathy (Al) Flores of Ottawa, OH; one son, Arthur D. (Heather) Lewis, Jr., of Cloverdale, OH; two sisters, Mary Ankney of Defiance, OH, and Shirley (Joe) Cramer of Defiance, OH; one brother, Larry (Marie) Font of Angola, IN; ten​ grandchildren, Joshua Ramon, Devan Lewis, Mikey Sims, Dusty Ensing, Amanda Ramon, Courtney (Zach) Payne, Daley Lewis Dara Lewis, Taron Butler and Cami Butler; and three great grandchildren.

Evalyn "Evie" Fitzsimmons

Evalyn H. “Evie” Fitzsimmons, age 100, of McKenzie, TN, died Wednesday, April 20, 2017, at McKenzie Regional Hospital in McKenzie, TN. 

Evie retired from C-R Industries in Elgin, IL.  She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Paris.  She was an avid reader, loved flowers, and enjoyed traveling in her younger years.

Evie was born February 25, 1917, in Erdahl, MN, to the late Arthur Gilbertson and the late Blenda Markegard Gilbertson.

She was married in 1976 to Alan Fitzsimmons, who preceded her in death on October 10, 1983.

She is survived by one daughter, Karin Bain of Paris, TN; one son, Raymond Donnie (Stella) Krumrey of Old Harbor, AK; one sister, Lou Anne (Myron) Earsley of Arizona; four grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.

Along with her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by one sister, Helen Schumaker; and one brother, Glen Gilbertson.

Helen Doris Sykes, age 90 of Paris, TN, died Friday, July 21, 2017, at Towne Square Care in Puryear, TN. 

She was a long-time member of Maplewood Baptist Church.  She enjoyed cooking, reading, music, and spending time with family and friends.  She also enjoyed fishing and being outdoors in her younger years.

Helen was born on June 19, 1927, in McAlester, OK, to the late Walter Claude Hogan and the late Mattie Lowry Hogan.

She was married June 8, 1946, to John Webber Sykes, Jr., who preceded her in death on January 10, 2017.

She is survived by one daughter, Sylvia (Howard) Goldberg of Louisville, KY; and one son, Johnny W. Sykes III of Paris, TN.

Along with her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by one sister, Norma Elaine Arnold; and one brother, Walter Hogan.

Tom Merrell

Tom “Cowboy” Merrell, age 82 of Paris, TN, died Friday, July 21, 2017 in Paris, TN.

He retired after many years as a construction worker for Dye & Stephens Construction Company in Paris, TN.  He also enjoyed helping at Houston Trucking Company.  He loved fishing, hunting, and riding four wheelers.

Tom was born November 26, 1934, in Springville, TN, to the late Carl Merrell and the late Lilly Johnson Merrell.

He is survived by two daughters, Sheryl (P.D.) Clendenin of Springville, TN, and Anita Merrell of Carthage, MS; he helped raise Donna Snow of Puryear, TN, and Roger (Norma) Carroll of Puryear, TN; two step-daughters, Gail Vickery of Paris, TN, and Joni Keesee of Paris, TN; two sisters, Lynn Tillman of Paris, TN, and Joy Dowdy of Paris, TN; two brothers, Bobby Merrell of Paris, TN, and Joe Merrell of Big Sandy, TN; four grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents, he was also preceded in death by two sisters, Marty Johnson and Margaret Rick; and two brothers, Jimmy Merrell and Kenneth Merrell.

Jonathan Barron

Jonathan Robert “Jon” Barron, age 31 of Paris, TN, died Thursday, July 20, 2017, in Paris, TN.

He worked as a farm manager at Chuck Hayes’s Farm in Paris, TN.  He was a United States Navy Veteran with several accommodations.  He was an Assistant Fire Chief of the Oakland Volunteer Fire Department, and a member of the Henry County Rescue Squad.

Jon was born on December 3, 1985, in Ft. Wayne, IN.  He is survived by his father, Jamie (Connie) Barron of Paris, TN, and his mother Jo Ann (Todd) Stetzel of Churubusco, IN.

Along with his parents, his is also survived by two sons, Eli Barron and Hunter Barron, both of Paris, TN; the mother of his children, Tosha Barron of Paris, TN; three sisters, Amanda (Tony) Troendly of Churubusco, IN, Amber (Phil) Fink of Warsaw, IN, and Jacci Baxter of Paris, TN; two brothers, Chip Barron of Paris, TN, and Jason (Shelly) Barron of LaOtto, IN; three nieces, Macy Barron, Morgan Barron, and Caroline Barron; three nephews, Sam Troendly, Joey Troendly, and Jameson Barron; and his fiancée Cindy Lawton and her son, Conner Lawton.

James H. Miller

Mr. James H. "Hardy" Miller, age 78 of Paris, passed away Thursday, July 20, 2017 at Murray Calloway County Hospital. James "Hardy" Miller was born May 9, 1939 in Paris, Tennessee to the late James L. Miller and the late Beulah Hardin Miller. On December 6, 1969 he married Nora "Jo" Austin Miller who preceded him in death on November 10, 2003.

Mr. Miller is survived by three daughters: Patricia Miller of California, Phyllis (Tom) Lowry of Lavonia, GA, and Tina (Michael) Salmon of Paris, TN; a sister, Edna Ann (Doyle) Shepard of Morristown, TN; a brother, Robert Dale "Scooter" Miller of Paris, TN; one grandchild, Erica (Blake) Triplett; one great grandchild, Mallory Jo Triplett; and a very special friend, Clara Dowdy of Paris, TN.

Mr. Hardy Miller was a United States Army Veteran serving two tours in Vietnam. He was a lifetime member of the VFW (past Commander) and AMVETS, also a member of the American Legion. He worked and retired from the City of Paris for close to 20 years. He was the Animal Control Officer for most of this time. Mr. Miller enjoyed fishing and Texas Holdem poker.

Tina Hilt

Ms. Tina Hilt, age 54 of New Concord, Kentucky passed away Sunday, July 16, 2017 at Murray Calloway County Hospital.

Visitation will be from 12:00-2:00 PM Sunday, July 23, 2017 at McEvoy Funeral Home in Paris, with funeral services to follow at 2:00 PM on Sunday at McEvoy Funeral Home. Tammy Blakenship will officiate.  Burial will be at Memorial Cemetery in Paris. Pallbearers will be Adam Brockwell, Doug Brockwell Jr., Doug Brockwell Sr., Stephen Hilt Jr., Jason Johnson, and "Tattoo" Dave Harms.

Tina Marie Hilt was born December 11, 1962 to the late Charles Edward Hilt and the late Violet Kathryn Calhoun Hilt. She was formerly married to Doug Brockwell Sr., of Eva, TN.

Ms. Hilt is also survived by two sons: Doug (Ashley) Brockwell Jr. of New Concord, KY and Adam (Christian) Brockwell of Paris, TN; two sisters: Kathie Hilt of Paris, TN and Toni (Danny) Brockwell of McKenzie, TN; a brother, Steve (Sarah) Hilt of Puryear, TN; and five grandchildren: Chloe, Aiden, and Aubrey Brockwell, Isabel Williams, and Daisy Brockwell.

Besides her parents, she was also preceded in death by two brothers: Danny Hilt and Chuck Hilt.

Tina Hilt formerly worked at Carey Counseling Center in Paris and the Department of Children's Services in Murray, KY.
