Samuel N. Seawright

Samuel N. Seawright, age 88, of Paris, TN passed away Wednesday November 11, 2015 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital in Jackson, TN.

Funeral service 2:00PM Sunday November 15, 2015 at McEvoy Funeral Home with Bro. Otis Hinton officiating, burial will follow at Palestine Cemetery.

Visitation 12:00 Noon until service time Sunday.

He was born January 19, 1927 in Henry County, TN to the late John Henry "J.H." and Willie Ava Hill Seawright.  On April 27, 1946 he married Olena Wimberly Seawright, she preceded August 19, 1994.

Survived by daughters: Peggy Chapman, Germantown, TN, Donna (Joe) Sharpe, Norman, OK; son: Mike (Shelia) Seawright, Huntingdon, TN; grandchildren: Travis (Andrea Martin) Chapman, Derek (Kellie) Chapman, Brian (Courtney) Sharpe, Emily Sharpe, Samanta (Mark) Pinson, DeAnn (Michael) Spellings; great-grandchildren: Mason Pinson, McCauley Spellings, McKinley Spellings, Gracie Chapman; nieces: Molly Moultrie, Sheffield, AL, Sandra Gamlin, Paris, TN; nephew: Jimmy H. Kennamer, Mobile, AL.

Preceded by a son-in-law: Mike Chapman; sisters: Christine Hopkins, Anne Kennamer, Margaret Seawright, preceded 1918; brother: J.C. Seawright, preceded 1925.

Sam was a Methodist and attended Oak Hill Church in Osage.  He was a retired pattern maker for clothing manufacturing plants including Salant and Salant until they closed an then he continued working at other local factories.  Mr. Seawright was a member of Paris Masonic Lodge No. 108 for over 50 years.

Luzvisminda  "Lucy" Ferrer Bucy

Luzvisminda "Lucy" Ferrer Bucy, age 80, of Puryear, Tenn., died Sunday, November  8, 2015, at Murray Calloway Co. Hospital in Murray, Ky.

She was a member of St. Leo Catholic Church in Murray, KY and was a house cleaner and seamstress for many years.   She also enjoyed cooking and crocheting.

She was born March 23, 1935 in the  Nueva Vizcaya, Philippines to the late Blas H. Ferrer and the late Valeria Mangaccot Ferrer.

Lucy was married to William D. Bucy and he survives.   She is also survived by her  One Daughter,  Lolita Soriano of SanDiego, Calif;  Two Sons,  Deo (Melly) Soriano of SanDiego, Calif,  Billy Bucy of Puryear, Tenn;  Two Sisters,  Virginia (Richard) Plamondon of Vancouver, Wash,  Epifania F. Villanueva of the Philippines;  One Brother,  Claro M. (Lydia) Ferrer of New York, N.Y.;   Grandchildren, Lorraine Palmeda, Deomel Soriano,  Jericho Soriano, and Jade Bucy. 

Lucy was also preceded in death by 4 Brothers and Sisters.       

She is to be cremated with arrangements being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St., Paris, Tenn.

There will be a Memorial Service at East Wood Church of Christ at 11:00 am Saturday, November 14, 2015.


Linda Fay Carroll

Linda Fay Carroll, age 69, of Dresden, Tenn., died Sunday, November  8, 2015, at Clinton Place in Clinton, Ky. 

She was a member of Maplewood Baptist Church and a former secretary at Northwest TN Resource Agency.    She enjoyed horseback riding, animals and seamstress work.

Linda was born December 16, 1945 in Paris, TN to the late Robert Lee Carroll and the late Marie Thompson Carroll.

She is survived by her  Two Sons,  Clint (Vicky) Todd of Camden, Tenn,  Jody (Tara) Todd of Paris, Tenn;  Two Nieces,  Paula (Ricky) Nance of Paris, TN, and Cindy Carroll of Cottage Grove, TN;  3 Grandchildren; and 6 Great Grandchildren.           

She was also preceded in death by a Brother, Carl David Carroll.

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St., Paris, Tenn where the visitation will be Thursday November 12, 2015 from 11 am – 12:30 pm.   The Graveside Service will be at Olive Branch Cemetery at 1:00 pm Thursday, November 12, 2015 with Corey Cain officiating.


Ronald "Ronnie" Anderson Madding

Ronald “Ronnie” Anderson Madding, age 63, of Paris, Tenn., died Tuesday, November 10, 2015, at Henry County Medical Center in Paris, Tenn. 

He formerly worked at Diverco in Dyersburg, TN.   He was also a former truck driver and a carpenter and was a Baptist.

He was born June 7, 1952 in Fulton, KY to the late Billy Wayne Madding and the late Gladys Pearl Childers Birmingham.

He is survived by his  One Daughter,  Rhonda Anderson of California;  One Son,  Pete (Amanda) Anderson of Dyersburg, Tenn;  Three Sisters,  Pat Haynes of Paris, Tenn,  Rita (Scott) Evans of Paris, Tenn,  Sondra Saueressig of Paris, Tenn;  Grandchildren,  Fariah Gregory, MeKenzi Anderson, Josh Anderson, Tyler Anderson, Cinnamon Gregory, Ethan Anderson and Braelin Ware.

Besides his parents, he was also preceded in death by a Sister, Betty Sue Madding; and Brother, Lyndell Mike Anderson.          

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St., Paris, Tenn.

There will be a Graveside Service at Rose Lawn Memory Garden at 10:00 am Thursday, November 12, 2015 with Johnny Farmer officiating. 


Miller Kennon

Miller Kennon, age 78, of Lexington, TN formerly of Paris, TN, passed away Wednesday November 11, 2015 at Bells Nursing Home, Bells, TN.

Memorial service 11:00AM Friday, November 13, 2015 at McEvoy Funeral Home with Don Williams officiating.

Visitation 5:00 - 7:00PM Thursday and after 10:00AM Friday at McEvoy Funeral Home.

He was born September 30, 1937 in Mansfield, TN to the late Allen Miller Kennon and Eunice Hall Kennon, both preceded.

Survived by daughters: Traci (Tim) Cooper, White Bluff, TN, Mandy (Jeff) Fox, Alamo, TN; son: Paul Miller (Michelle) Kennon, Jackson, TN; sisters: Martha Alvarez, Paris, TN, Judy (Tom) Ragsdale, McMinnville, TN; brothers: Lee "L.H." (Donna) Kennon, Paris, TN, Noel Kennon, Paris, TN; grandchildren: Meagan (Grayson) Holt, Margaret Ellen (Joel) Harper, Kristin (Andrew) Robinson, Landon Cooper, McKenzie Fox, Aly Grace Cooper, Ava Kennon; great-grandchildren: Owen Harper, Ellis Harper and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and cousins.

He graduated from Grove High School in 1956 and played football at Murray State University.  He married Nancy William Kennon in 1964 and later moved to Jackson, TN where he worked for Conalco Aluminum for 32 years before retiring.  Mr. Kennon was an avid outdoorsman and after retiring he enjoyed going to auctions and collecting stamps and coins.  He passed  away with his children by his side.


Norman Lane

Norman Lane, age 80 of Paris, died Monday November 9th at Paris Healthcare Center.

Visitation will be 11am to 1pm on Sat. Nov. 14th at McEvoy Funeral home with service at 1pm. Burial will follow at Lane Cemetery in Stewart County.

Burl Mahan

Burl Donald Mahan, age 85, of Paris, Tenn., died Monday, November  9, 2015, at his residence in Paris, Tenn. 

Burl was a 1949 Graduate of Burdette High School in Burdette, AR and served as the Class President.  He served in the US Army from 1954-1956 during the Korean War.     He lived in Tunica, MS for several years where he formerly owned and operated the Mahan Grocery.   He was a Member of Buchanan United Methodist Church and was a Lifelong farmer who enjoyed fishing, being outdoors, farming and spending time with his family and drinking coffee in the mornings with friends.

He was born in Cotton Plant, AR October 3, 1930 to the late David Ralph Mahan and the late Katie Maloy  Mahan.

Burl was married on March 10, 1951 to Vivian Jones Mahan and she survives.   He is also survived by his Two Sons,  Carter Mahan of Buchanan, Tenn and  David Mahan of Buchanan, Tenn.

Besides his parents, Burl was also preceded in death by a Son, Kevin Mahan;  Twin Brother, Jearl Mahan and Two other Brothers, Billy Carol Mahan and Jerry Mahan         

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St., Paris, Tenn.

Visitation will be at Buchanan United Methodist Church from 10 – 11 am Wednesday, November 11, 2015 with the Funeral Service at 11:00 am Wednesday at the Church.

Rev. Latricia Trull and Rev. Bennie Akers will officiate.   Pallbearers will be Joel Wyatt, Thomas Thompson, Phillip Walker, Victor Zakrajsek, Patrick Mahan and Todd Mahan.

Burial will follow in Walker Cemetery in Paris, Tenn.

Shirley York

Shirley York, age 79 of Paris, TN, passed away Sunday November 8, 2015 at Paris Healthcare Center in Paris.

There will be a graveside memorial service at 11:00AM Saturday November 14, 2015 at Hillcrest Memorial Park with Gary Collier and Alan Trull officiating.

No visitation is scheduled.

She was born in Henry County, TN to the late William H. "Jerry" and Kennie Mae Sykes Bucy.  On May 9, 1981 she married Monte York, he survives, Paris, TN.

Survived by daughters: Kelly Buffington (Shannon) Gardner, Ashland, MO, Melody (Shane) Heath, Paris, TN; sister: Bobbie Brown, Paris; brother: Lyle Bucy, Paris, TN; grandchildren: Logan Gardner, Brady Heath, Sidney Heath and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Preceded by a son: Jerry Buffington; brothers: Len Bucy, Leon Bucy, Milton Bucy, Billy Bucy and James Bucy.

Mrs. York retired from Atlantic Homes after more than 25 years of service.  She was a member of Henry Church of Christ.

Linda Walker

Linda S. Williams Walker, age 66, of Paris, Tenn., died Friday, November 6, 2015, at Henry County Medical Center in Paris, Tenn.  

Linda was employed by West TN Human Resources as a housekeeper and aide to the eldery.   She was a member of the Paris Christian Center and she enjoyed playing cards, dominos,  and cooking and sewing.

She was born September 25, 1949 in Paris, TN to the late J. C. Williams and the late Martha Hughes Williams.

She is survived by her One Daughter,  Charity (Jayson) Pierce of Paris, Tenn;   One Son,  Timothy (Dana) Walker  Paris, Tenn;   Three Sisters,   Phyllis Ann (Larry) Craig of Springville, Tenn,   Betty June (George) Shankle of Springville, Tenn;   Brenda Nell Williams of Springville, Tenn;   Grandchildren,  Walker Pierce, Olivia Pierce,  Kieth Jones,  Courtney Jones,  Lacey Walker,  Navy Walker,  and Kaitlin Walker;  Great Grandchildren,  Brent Pullen,  Rylee Jones,  Alyna Broadway, and  Presley Jones.

Besides her parents, Linda was also preceded in death by Two Brothers,  Jackie Lee Williams and Randy Dale Williams. 

She is to be cremated with a Celebration of Life service to be held at Paris Christian Center, 417 Wynn St., Paris, TN  38242,  Sunday, November 15, 2015 at 2:00 pm with Brenda Adamson officiating.

Jim Cutherbertson

Mr. James R. "Jim" Cuthbertson of Paris, TN passed away at the age of 88, Friday, November 6, 2015. His Funeral Service will be held at McEvoy Funeral Home Tuesday, November 10, 2015 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Roger Smith of Church of God of Prophecy officiating. Burial will follow in Benton Memory Gardens in Camden, TN. Visiation will be held at McEvoy 4:00-7:00 PM Monday, November 9, 2015 and after 9:00 AM Tuesday prior to service time at 11:00 AM.

Named as Pallbearers: Larry Mayton, Cameron Mayton, Rory Judd, Ed Cuthbertson, Charlie Cuthbertson, John Fitzgerald

Mr. Jim was born July 16, 1927 in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Clenty Cuthbertson and Lola Belyew Cuthbertson.

He is survived by wife; Billie J. Allen Cuthbertson of Paris, TN; daughter; Brenda (Larry) Mayton of St Louis, MO.; sister; June Lassandrello of Oak Lawn, IL; brother; Charlie Cuthbertson of Paris, TN; grandchildren; Cameron Mayton and Courtney Mayton (Rory) Judd; great-grandchildren; Madelyn Judd and Ellie Judd.

Mr. Cuthbertson was preceded in death by daughter; Wanda Cuthbertson; brothers; Joe Cuthbertson and Eugene Cuthbertson.

He was a member of First Assembly of God Church in Camden, TN. Mr. Jim was a retired iron worker and a member of the Iron Workers Union Local 63 for 65 years.

Thelma Lamb

Thelma Irene Lamb, age 84, of Paris, Tenn., died Saturday, November  7, 2015, at Henry County Healthcare Center in Paris, Tenn.  She was a retired LPN from Chesmore Clinic. She was a member of Jesus Saves Baptist Church who enjoyed working outdoors and loved her family.

She was the daughter of the late Otis Chester Smith and the late Winnie Mae Patterson Smith.

She is  survived by her Seven Daughters: Cathey (James) Stambaugh of McKenzie, Tenn., Brenda (Teddy) Hill of Paris, Tenn., Donna (Bobby) Beasley of Murfreesboro, Tenn. Jennifer King of Paris, Tenn., Jackie Turner of Eddyville, Ky., Kathy Lamb of Tennessee, Jennie (Chris) Dyer of Camden, Tenn;Son-Charles (Debi) Colley of Springville, Tenn.; Two brothers:Billy (Betty) Smith of Puryear, Tenn., Johnny (Evelyn) Smith of Dresden, Tenn.       

Ms. Lamb leaves 25 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren & 4 great great grandchildren.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons: Ronald David Sager and W.C. Colley, Jr., two sisters: Doris Clement & Elizabeth Snow and two brothers: Leon Smith & O.C. Smith, Jr.

Grandsons will serve as Pallbearers.

Grace Underwood

Grace Nelle Underwood, age 94, of Paris, Tenn., died Thursday, November 5, 2015, at Morningside of Paris.

Grace was a member of Palestine United Methodist Church.    She was a retired teacher that taught in Henry County and Tipton County Schools.    She was also an avid artist, promoting arts in Henry County and she loved bird watching, nature, and flower gardening.   She was an antique collector and a frame restorator.

She was born April 10, 1921 in Puryear, TN to the late Tobe West and the late Steely Belle White West.

Grace was married July 15, 1942 to John Riley Underwood and he preceded in death May 27, 2013.

She is survived by her  Four Daughters,  Judy (George Perry) Tyree of Ripley, Tenn,  Linda (John) Jenkins of Gainesville, Fla,  Mary Jane (Redgy) Ross of Paris, Tenn,  Amy (Stan) Veazey of Paris, Tenn; Seven Grandchildren,   Georgianne Tyree, Mary Grace Reed, Martha Parker, John Dale Ross, Emily Gamble, Nolan Poteete, and Greg Poteete;  And Eight Great Grandchildren.

Besides her Husband and Parents, Grace was also preceded in death by a Sister, Mary Virginia Snow.           

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St., Paris, Tenn., where the visitation will be from 12 – 2 pm Sunday, November  8, 2015.    The Funeral Service will be at LeDon Chapel of Ridgeway Funeral Home at 2:00 pm Sunday, November  8, 2015.

Dr. Joe Culumber will officiate.    Pallbearers will be John Dale Ross, Derek Parker, Tyler Gamble, Kevin Reed, Nolan Poteete, and Greg Poteete. 

Interment will be at Puryear City Cemetery in Puryear, Tenn.

Baby Blake Lambert

Arrangements are incomplete for Baby Blake Cooper Lambert, age 3 months of Paris, TN, he passed away Wednesday, November 4, 2015 at LeBonheur Children's Hospital in Memphis, TN following an automobile accident.

Baby Blake is survived by his parents: Brandie Phillips and Robert Lambert both of Paris, TN; grandfather: Kenneth Phillips, Springville, TN; sisters: Savannah Bradley, Ashley Richardson, Lexus Farris, Courtney Lambert; brothers: Gage Conger, Skyler Farris, Eli Farris and numerous other relatives and special friends.

Preceded by grandparents: Jackie and Laura Lambert; grandmother: Teresa Mangrum and a brother: Tyler Bradley.

Fred Zinn

Fred Zinn, age 74 of Springville, died Wednesday at the Henry County Medical Center. Fred was retired from General Motors and was a member of Fairview Baptist Church.

Services will be held at Ross Frash Funeral Home in Crossville Ohio.

Katherine Phelps

Katherine Phelps, age 73 of Jackson, TN passed away Tuesday November 3, 2015 at Maplewood Healthcare in Jackson.

Funeral service 1:00PM Thursday November 5, 2015 at McEvoy Funeral Home with Gary Collier officiating, burial will follow at Memorial Cemetery.

Named as pallbearers are David Allen, James Taylor, Tim Wehner, Ryan Bramlett, Lucas Rogers and Bob Rogers.

Visitation 4:00 - 7:00PM Wednesday and after 11:00AM Thursday.

Mrs. Phelps was born November 25, 1941 in Murray, KY to the late Porter and Marie Patterson Bramlett.

She is survived by a daughter: Tonya Phelps (Patrick) Rogers, Jackson, TN; sisters: Patsy Bramlett, Hazel, KY, Sandra Bramlett, Hazel, KY; brother: Robert Bramlett, Hazel, KY; grandchildren: Lucas Rogers, Addie Rogers and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Preceded by a sister: Peggy Castleman; brothers: Porter Bramlett, Jr. and James Thomas Bramlett.

Ann Brewster

Dorothy Ann Brewster, age 72, of Paris, Tenn., died Saturday, October 31, 2015, at Vanderbilt Univ. Med. Center in Nashville, Tenn. 

Ann was a Graduate of Grove High School Class of 1961 and was a member of First United Methodist Church.    She worked at Holley Carburetor Plant for several years and then retired from Joe Mahan Ford Co. as the office manager where she worked for over 20 years.    She was a Member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and formerly served on the Board of Lee Academy for the Arts.   Ann enjoyed traveling extensively and was also an avid scuba diver.

She was born August 8, 1943 in Shreveport, LA to the late Walter A. Brewster and the late Dorothy Daniel   Brewster.

She was married November 11, 1995 to James S. "Jim" Burrall and he survives.   She is also survived by her  Two Sons,  Patrick (Fiona) Peppel of Virginia Beach, Va,  James Peppel of Paris, Tenn;  Grandchild, Austin Peppel;  One Nephew, Alan (Kay) Brewster of Springfield, TN;  Sister-in-law, Jean Brewster of Buchanan, TN and her daughters, Valerie Guthrie and Lisa Cole and grandsons, Josh Davis and Bill Tinsley;  and  2 Step Children and Several Step Grandchildren. 

Besides her Parents, she was also preceded in death by her Brother, Walter A. Brewster;  Step Father, James VanDyke;  and Step Sister, Dianne VanDyke.     

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St., Paris, Tenn., where the visitation will be from 11 am – 1 pm Thursday, November  5, 2015.    The Funeral Service will be at LeDon Chapel of Ridgeway Funeral Home at 1:00 pm Thursday, November  5, 2015.

Dr. Robert D. Martin will officiate and he will be assisted by Lelan McReynolds.    Pallbearers will be Josh Davis, Dan Bundy, Brown Hawley, Jack Veazey, Joe Wells and Jay Burrall.    Honorary Pallbearers will be The Slumber Party Girls from the Grove Class of 1961. 

Interment will follow in Maplewood Cemetery in Paris, Tenn.

Bobby Webb

Bobby Gene “Bob” Webb, age 84, of Cottage Grove, Tenn., died Sunday, November  1, 2015, at his Residence in Cottage Grove, Tenn. 

Bob was born March 6, 1931 in Cottage Grove, TN to the late Jewell Thomas Webb and the late Joy Mae Cravens Webb.

He was a Member of Palmersville Baptist Church and was a Mason.

He was married November 22, 1956 to Mary Caldwell Webb and she survives.   He is also survived by his  One Daughter,  Sandi (Larry) Wilkinson of Martin, Tenn;  Two Grandchildren,  Adam (Ashley) Wilkinson of Medina, TN and Rachel Wilkinson of Memphis, TN; and One Great Grandchild, Ava Wilkinson.

Bob was also preceded in death by a Brother, Bill Webb.          

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St., Paris, Tenn., where the visitation will be from 4 – 7 pm Tuesday, November  3, 2015 and from 9 – 11 am Wednesday, November  4, 2015.    The Funeral Service will be at LeDon Chapel of Ridgeway Funeral Home at 11:00 am Wednesday, November  4, 2015.

Kieth Dublin and Bob Copeland will officiate.   Pallbearers will be Dewey McClure, Bob Rudy, Joe David Laws, Kerry Harris, Linnie Jones, and Tom Webb.

Interment will be at Bethany Cemetery in Cottage Grove, Tenn.

J.D. Gooch

James David “J.D.” Gooch, age 98, of Puryear, Tenn., died Friday, October 30, 2015, at his residence in Puryear, Tenn. 

J.D. was a member of First United Methodist Church and the Ambassador Sunday School Class.  He was the oldest member of Paris Masonic Lodge #108 having joined in 1945 and he was a Longtime member of the Paris Rotary Club serving over 50 years.  J.D. was a Lumber Inspector for many years and was the former owner and operator of Gooch Lumber Co. in Paris.    He enjoyed traveling with his wife Betty and they had visited all 50 States..  .

He was born April 26, 1917 in Annis, TN to the late Thomas David Gooch and the late Lacy Simmons Gooch.

J.D. was first married to Jean Harris Gooch who died in a wreck in 1948 with their sons Jerry and Johnny Gooch.   He then married Betty Hagler Gooch September 17, 1950 and she preceded him in death June 24, 2015.

He is survived by his  One Daughter,  Jan (David) Foy of Puryear, Tenn;  One Son,  Jim (Tammy) Gooch of Paris, Tenn;  Seven Grandchildren,  Blake (Brianna) Gooch, Hunter Gooch, Staci Foy, Bryan Mullins, Breyanne (Justin) Sperry,  Jeremy Perkins, and Brittany (Will) Vaughan;  Eight Great Grandchildren,  Stefani Gooch,  Aiden Gooch, Liam Gooch, Dawson Sperry, Dalyliah Sperry, Brayden Vaughan, Addyson Vaughan, and Emerson Perkins;  and Several Nieces and Nephews.

J.D. was also preceded in death by a Son,  Dan Gooch;  Two Sisters,  Estelle Hailey,  and Helen Azbill; and Brother,  Tommy Gooch.

Steve King

Steven Smyth "Steve" King, age 52 of Paris, TN, passed away Wednesday October 21, 2015 at Stormont-Vail Healthcare in Topeka, KS.

A memorial service  will be held at 4:00PM Sunday November 1, 2015 at McEvoy Funeral Home with Wilbur Farmer officiating.

Visitation for Mr. King will be from 1:00PM Sunday until service time 4:00PM.

Steve was born December 16, 1962 in Paris, TN to the late Morris and Mary Lyn Smyth King.

He is survived by a special friend: Carrie Fletcher, Paris, TN; daughter: Patsy Lyn (Ralph) Russell, Paris, TN; sons: Derek (Katie) King, Sioux City, IA, Joey (Lori) King, Paris, TN; brother: Ronnie King, Nashville, TN; grandchildren: Camryn, Jasmyn, Lauryn and Damien Russell, Delaney King;  nieces: Kristi King, Puryear, TN, Brandi (T.K.) Russell, Paris, TN; aunts: Retta Jane Pool, Betty Holcomb; uncles: Bobby (Nancy) King, Wayne King; local cousins: Sherry (Donald) Mummert, Tracy Kilpatrick, Joby Bullen and Jill Ball.

He is preceded by a brother: Richard "Dickie" King; grandparents: Lawrence and Pearl King and C.D. and Loretta Smyth.

Steve retired from Tecumseh Products after 18 years of service.  He later began working with his sons traveling around the country working construction.  He also enjoyed watching and coaching his children in all their sporting events.

Phillip McMurray

Philip A. McMurray, age 51 of McKenzie, TN passed away Sunday October 25, 2015 at the McKenzie Regional Hospital in McKenzie, TN.

He was born October 16, 1964 in Sarasota, FL to the late Leon A. and Carma Louise Dunnavan McMurray and was formerly married to Tonia Houston Atkinson, Paris, TN.

Survived by a daughter: Shelby McMurray, Paris, TN; son: Brandon McMurray, Paris, TN; sisters: Leone (Quin) Winburn, Bradington, FL, Melody McMurray, Bradington, FL; brothers: Richard (Frances) McMurray, Bradington, FL, Joe (Patricia Rittmanic) McMurray, Henry, TN and several nieces and nephews.

Philip was a 1982 graduate of Stewart County High School.  He worked with Dana of Paris, was a volunteer fireman and did automotive mechanic work for years in this area.  Philip enjoyed music, playing his banjo, horseback riding and animals.  A family member said that he was always willing to help someone in need anytime.

Mattie Drew

Mattie Singleton Drew, age 87, of Paris, Tenn., died Monday, October 26, 2015, at Paris Healthcare & Rehab Center in Paris, Tenn. 

Mattie was born December 25, 1927 in Mansfield, TN to the late James Beacher Hoofman and the late Lola Bell McMean Hoofman.

She was first married to Howard Singleton Jan. 14, 1946 who died in March 1991 then she married Harry Drew who died in September 2001

She retired from Henry County Nursing Home and Henry County Medical Center after many years.  She was a member of Spring Creek Baptist Church and she loved her family very much. 

She is survived by her  Three Daughters,  Gail Singleton of Paris, Tenn,  Sherry (Frank) Wynn of South Fulton, Tenn,  Charlotte (Donald) Singleton Milam of Paris, Tenn;  Three Sons,  Harold Singleton & friend Jackie McIntire of Paris, Tenn,  Ronnie (Sue) Singleton of Paris, Tenn,  Dale Singleton of Paris, Tenn;  Two Sisters,  Margaret Flood of Whitlock, Tenn,  Lula Reeves of Portland, Tenn;  Grandchildren,  Michael (Sharon) Singleton, Jacky (Tasha) Melton, Ron Singleton, Chris (Laurie) Pierpoint,  Suzanna "Susan" (James) Meadows,  Lexi Singleton,  Brian (Krystal) Singleton, Matthew Milam, and Jared (Hannah Choate) Milam;   Great Grandchildren,  Analyn Singleton, Jenia Singleton, Branson Singleton, Andrew Reed, Kaylee Duncan, Carlee Meadows, Brody Singleton, Fairren Kay Milam,  and Josh Wyatt;  and Several Great-Great Grandchildren.

JW Carter

J.W. Carter, age 67 of Mansfield, TN passed away Monday October 26, 2015 at Henry County Medical Center in Paris, TN.

Funeral service 12:00PM Thursday October 29, 2015 at McEvoy Funeral Home with Bro. Randy Stephens of Sulphur Well Church of Christ officiating, burial will follow at Key Cemetery.

Named as pallbearers are Seth Gibbs, Jaron Gibbs, Bobby Key, Benji Gregson, Shannon Forrest and Jake Wortham.

Visitation 4:00 - 8:00PM Wednesday and after 9:00AM Thursday.

He was born in Henry County, TN to the late Earnest and Mildred Walters Carter.

Survived by a daughter: Chasity (Shannon) Overall, Huntingdon, TN; son: Jason (Melissa) Carter, Mansfield, TN; grandchildren: Bethany and Kaela Carter, Chloe and Taylee Overall; step-grandchildren: Seth and Jaron Gibbs.

Mr. Carter formerly worked as a mechanic with Joe Mahan Ford and later ran his own shop in the Mansfield community.  J.W. was a member of the Mansfield Volunteer Fire Department, he enjoyed collecting antiques and attended many sales and auctions.  A family member said that his best friend and companion was his dog Tator.

Jesse Dean

Jesse Wayne Dean, age 47 of Buchanan, TN, died Monday October 26, 2015 at his residence in Buchanan, TN.

Jesse was married July 4, 2004 to Debra Enoch Dean and she survives.  
He was a member of Fairview Baptist Church and worked 26 years as a press Operator at Dana Corporation.   He loved riding his Harley Davidson and spending time with his family.

Jesse was born May 12, 1968 in Paris, TN to the late Jesse Granville Dean and Carolyn Ann Dillon Dean of Paris, TN.

Besides his Wife Debra and Mother Carolyn, he is also survived by Three Sons, Michael Dean of Paris, TN,  Nathan Dodd of Paris, TN,  Greg Dodd of Fayetteville, NC;  Two Daughters, Demina (Clint) Rogers of Nashville, TN,  Stephanie Dodd of Benton, KY;  Two Sisters, Edna (Dale) Coulter of Hendersonville, TN,  JoAnn Pallay of Paris, TN;  and 14 Grandchildren.

Margaret Owen

Margaret Ball Owen, age 64, of Paris, Tenn., died Sunday, October 25, 2015, at Henry County Healthcare Center in Paris, Tenn.  

She was married in 2005 to Willie Gerald Owen and he preceded in death October 6, 2009.  

Margaret was a member of Open Doors Community Church and she formerly worked at Salant & Salant Co. and Redmons BBQ in Paris.
She was born May 30, 1951 in Paris, TN to the late William Ball and the late Mattie Pearl Miller Ball.

She is survived by her  Two Daughters,  Tammy Alexander Thompson of Paris, Tenn,  Melissa Alexander & friend Chester Somerville of Mansfield, Tenn;  One Son,  James (Missy) Alexander of Lenox, Tenn;  Three Sisters,  Shirley Cole of Paris, Tenn,  Elizabeth Strickland of Paris, Tenn,  Vernie (Jerry) Barnhill of Puryear, Tenn;  Grandchildren, Leslie Dale Bright, Candice Garner, April Hitzeman, Jeremy Alexander, Jacobey Martin Phillips-Zee, and Bethany Alexander;  And 6 Great Grandchildren.

Besides her Husband and Parents, Margaret was also preceded in death by a Sister, Lou Chamness.

Marian Fox

Marian Fox, age 91 of Paris, passed away Sunday October 25, 2015 at Henry County Healthcare Center.

She was born in Cottonwood Falls, Kansas to the late Thomas  and Sue Chapman Deivert.

Survived by a daughter: Laurie (Richard) Kuehmichel, Paris, TN; son: Rick Cooper, Salem, OR; grandchildren: Jessica Schenk, Rebecca Cooper, Kim (Elijah) Eiler, Matt Paden; great-grandchildren: Skyler, Nicole, Jacob and Bailey Schenk, Kailey, Austin, Issac and Will Eiler.

Martha Hobby

Martha Jane Conger Hobby, age 85, of Paris, Tenn., died Sunday, October 25, 2015, at St. Thomas West Hospital in Nashville, Tenn. 

Martha married Henry Willis Hobby June 24, 1965 and he preceded in death April 9, 2013.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church and was an L.P.N. at Henry County Medical Center for over 30 years.  She formerly worked at Salant & Salant and Woolworth  in Paris, TN.    She also enjoyed traveling, shopping and reading.

She was born March 1, 1930  in Paris, TN to the late Josiah Conger and the late Nellie Ruth Green Conger.

Martha is survived by her  One Daughter,  Jane (Abe) Ewing of Monroe, Ga;  Three Sons,  Mitch (Tammy) Hobby of Paris, Tenn,  Donald (Kathy) Redden of Paris, Tenn,  Kelley (Teresa) Redden of Springville, Tenn;  Four Grandchildren,  Staci (Jason) Beecham, Tim Boone, Christina McNally, and Steven (Sam) Lexa;  Five Great Grandchildren,  Brandon Redden,  Dawson Charles, Malia Boone,  Taylor Boone, and James Henry Lexa;  and Special Niece,  Patsy (Jerry) Evans.

Besides her Husband and Parents, she was also preceded in death by a Sister, Lucille Parrish; and Brothers, James Robert Conger and William Joseph Conger.

Brooke Webb

Brooke Nicole Webb, age 32 of Henry, TN died Saturday, October 24, 2015, at Paris Healthcare and Rehab Center in Paris, TN, from complications of a life long illness.

Brooke was born September 6, 1983 in Jackson, TN.  She was a Baptist who enjoyed reading her Bible, listening to music and talking to people.  Brooke never met a stranger.

Brooke is survived by her parents, Mike and Kim Murray Butler of Henry, TN. Additional survivors include her Two Brothers, Griffin Butler and fiancée Valarie Miller and Corbin Butler both of Henry, TN;  Five Aunts,  Linda (Kevin) Wanamaker of Henry, TN, Jenie (Brad) Melton of Henry, TN,  Kathy (Earl) Grissom of Henry, TN,  Cherry (Steven) Russell of McKenzie, TN,  Jennifer (Jerry) Drye of Dalton, GA;  One Uncle, Timmy (Donna) Murray of Paris, TN;  Grandmother, Nancy Butler of Henry, TN;   Her Father, Lawrence Keith Webb of McKenzie, TN and his parents Larry and Ida Webb of Gleason, TN;   Along with two half-sisters,  Taylor Webb of Florida and Jordan Webb of Jackson, TN and several cousins and numerous friends.

She was preceded in death by Grandparents Finis and Frances Murray and Bobby Butler.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Tuesday October 27, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. at LeDon Chapel of Ridgeway Funeral Home.  Paul “Bud” Merwin will officiate.    Friends may visit with the family at the funeral home on Tuesday from 5:00 to 7:00 pm.

A private family Burial will be held later with John Sutton officiating and Family members will serving as pallbearers

Chester Robbins

Chester Lee Robbins, age 88, of Paris, TN., died Tuesday, October 20, 2015, at Eiffel Gardens Assisted Living in Paris, TN.  He was married on January 30, 1949 to Bobbie Sue Groom Robbins, who preceded him in death on December 31, 2011. He was a member of Southern Baptist Church in El Centro, CA. He retired from Central Union High School Bus Department as supervisor in California. He enjoyed playing music since he was 5 years old, and this was his love.

He was the son of the late Henry Robbins and the late Nelly Henchey  Robbins.

He is survived by his daughter, Cathi (Richard) Peck of Holly Hill, SC; two sisters, Ruby Adam of Imperial, CA.; and June Henderson of El Centro, CA.

Evelyn Hastings

Evelyn Hastings, age 94, of Paris, passed away Tuesday October 20, 2015 at Henry County Healthcare Center.

Funeral service 11:00AM Saturday, October 24, 2015 at McEvoy Funeral Home with Gary Collier officiating, burial will follow at Olive Branch Cemetery.

Named as pallbearers are Bobby Smith, Randy Hendrix, Adam Smith, Chris Smith, Dave Smith, Luke Crawford, Will Carlton and Walker Carlton.

Visitation 4:00 - 7:00PM Friday October 23, 2015 and after 9:00AM Saturday.

Mrs. Hastings was born in Henry County, TN to the late Gilbert Horace and Bessie Bennett Charles Tucker.  On April 12, 1953 she married James Franklin Hastings, he preceded March 12, 1988.

Survived by daughters: Helen (Graziano) Gandini, Las Vegas, NV, Dorothy Lindsey, Chicago, IL; sons: Dale (Pam) Hastings, Paris, TN,  Larry (Beverly) Hastings, Camden, TN, Bill Smith, Paris, TN, Bobby (Vicki) Smith, Paris, TN; sisters: Velma Callins, Tampa, FL; thirty six grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren; daughters-in-law: Delores Hastings, Camden, TN and Pauline Smith, Nashville, TN.

Preceded by a daughter: Mary Sue Payne; sons: Gilbert Hastings, George Hastings, David Hastings, Gene Smith; sister: Bobbie Highfill and a brother: William Henry Tucker.

Evelyn was a member of Springhill Baptist Church and a homemaker.  She worked many years at the Sewanee Castle, Henry County Nursing Home along with other restaurants located in Henry County.  She was a member of the VFW Post 1889 Ladies Auxiliary, an avid gardener and cook.

Joe Scott Green

Joe Scott Green, age 60, of Paris, Tenn., died Sunday, October 18, 2015, at his residence in Paris, Tenn.  He married August 19, 1978, to Reva Buie Green, who survives. He was a retired mechanic for the Henry Co. Highway Department, a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church and he enjoyed motorcycles, yard work, being outdoors & traveling.

He was the son of the late Bennie Green and Carolyn Greenup Green of Paris, Tenn.

Besides his wife and mother, Mr. Green is also survived by a daughter: Keri Ann (Jacob) Robinson of Paris, Tenn.; a grandchild, Decker Robinson of Paris, Tenn., several aunts, uncles, a nephew and several cousins.         

Pallbearers for the service are Terry Flanagan, William Clary, Howard Greenup, Timmy Barnhill, Barry Williams and Larry Greenup. Ellis Greenup and Delmas Greenup will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.

Jill Erin Hayes-Frye

Jill Erin Hayes-Frye, age 44, of Paris, Tenn., died Sunday, October 18, 2015, in Henry, Tenn.  She was a former administrator of elections for Henry County, and a past member of the Quota Club.  A member of the 1989 Henry County High School graduating class, she attended the University of Tennessee at Martin, and was a former Governor for State 4-H Congress.

She is survived by her parents Jerry and Debbie Hayes, of Henry, Daughter, Shelby Frye of Paris, Tenn.; Son, Hayes Frye of Paris, Tenn.; Sister, Susan Hayes (Brian) Tusa of Henry, Tenn.; and Brother, Matt (Stacy) Hayes of Paris, Tenn.

James "Jim" Millard Riley

James "Jim" Millard Riley, age 77, of Paris, Tenn., died Friday, October 16, 2015, at his residence in Paris, Tenn. 

Jim married Nancy Jean Pickard-Riley June 16, 1986 and she preceded in death February 24, 2011. 

He was a member of West Paris Baptist Church, retired from the Army National Guard, and formerly served in the Navy.    Jim formerly worked as a security Guard with Holley Carburetor Plant and was a member of the Paris Moose Lodge.   He was an Avid Sportsman who enjoyed fishing and hunting, but his real love was umpiring for many years for Little League, Softball, College Baseball and Softball games, traveling statewide for tournaments and world series events.

He was born December 19, 1937 in Springville, Tenn., to the late Roy Riley and the late Ruby Thelma Clendenin Riley.

He is survived by his Daughter, Dorra Ann Riley; a Son, Bobby Joe Riley; a Sister-in-law, Kathy (Don) Austin of Humboldt, TN; Sister-in-law, Jackie (Terry) Witherspoon of Paris, TN; Niece, Charity (Josh) Butler of Jackson, TN; Sister-in-law, Helen (Stephen) Prinz of Knoxville, TN; Brother-In-Law, John R. Dunlap, Jr. of Hendersonville, TN; Brother-In-Law, Freddie (LeAnn) Dunlap of North Bend, OR; Step Daughter, Theresa (Chris) Oman of Ft. Wayne, IN; Step Daughter, Melissa (Michael) Wever of Ft. Wayne, IN; Close Friends, Wilbur Farmer and Jack King; Several Grandchildren, Nieces, Nephews and Cousins.
