Mayme Clayton

Mayme Margaret Clayton, age 89 of Paris, TN, passed away Saturday, July 16, 2016 and Henry County Healthcare.

Funeral service 12:00PM Thursday July 21, 2016 at McEvoy Funeral Home with Bro. Mike Wimberley of Olive Branch United Methodist Church and Bro. Gary Collier of First United Methodist Church officiating, burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Her family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation 10:00AM until service time Thursday.

Margaret was born April 18, 1927 in Henry County, TN to the late Henry Elmore Sutton and Nelle Hopkins Sutton.  On December 12, 1942 she married Telous William Clayton, he preceded May 2, 1995.  She was also preceded by both of her sons: William Larry Clayton, February 25, 2003 and Johnny Mason Clayton, November 8, 2010.

Survived by her daughter-in-law: Angela Morris Clayton, Paris, TN; grandchildren: Gary (Madonna) Clayton, Adamsville, AL, Chad (fiance' Audrey Johnson) Clayton, Clarksville, TN; great-grandson: Bryan Clayton, Puryear, TN and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and cousins.

Preceded by sisters: Maxine Latimer, Ruby Moody; brothers: J.W. Sutton, Pete Sutton, Sam Sutton and Wesley Sutton.

Margaret was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. She retired from Holley Carburetor Plant formerly of Paris, TN and was a homemaker.

Sherry Johnson

Sherry Hatcher Johnson, age 65, of Paris, Tenn., died Saturday, July 16, 2016 , in Paris.

She married W. A. “Bill” "Creekwater” Johnson November 11, 1970, who survives.

Sherry was a member of the West Paris Baptist Church, an avid reader and enjoyed dogs.

Born in Paris, TN, she was the daughter of the late Thomas E. Hatcher and Rosa Collins Hatcher, who resides in Paris.

She is also survived by her daughter: Heather (Randal) Presson of Paris, Tenn; a son:Thomas (Nicole) Johnson of Paris, Tenn. and a foster son: Michael Holderfield of Colorado; one brother: Keith (Sandra) Hatcher of Paris, Tenn.  Additional survivors include her four grandchildren: Rachel Presson, Christian Johnson, Aliyah Johnson and Zaiden Rogers.   

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St. - P.O. Box 788, Paris, Tenn., where the family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM Monday, July 18, 2016, and Tuesday, July 19, 2016 after 9 :00 am. The Funeral service will be at LeDon Chapel of Ridgeway Funeral Home at 11:00 AM Tuesday, July 19, 2016, with Cliff Evans and Johnny Dale officiating.

Family and Friends will serve as Pallbearers.

Interment will be at Memorial Cemetery in Paris, Tenn.

Bill Smith

William Edward “Bill” Smith, age 72, of Paris, Tenn., died Wednesday, July 13, 2016, at his residence in Paris, Tenn. 

He was a carpet layer with Morgan Funiture Company for 30 years, then was self-employed and worked in the construction business for several years.  He was also a US Army Vietnam Veteran and lifetime member of the V.F.W.

Bill was born May 31, 1944 in Paris, TN to the late James Edward Smith and the late Evelyn Ruth Tucker Hastings.

He is survived by his  three Daughters, Marsha Carlton and special friend Dave Smith of Paris, Tenn,  Darla (Mark) Morgan of Murray, Ky, and Teresa (Brian) Atkins of Paris, Tenn;  two Sisters, Helen (Graziano) Gandini of Las Vegas, Nev, Dorothy Lindsey of Chicago, Ill;  three Brothers, Bobby (Vickie) Smith of Paris, Tenn, Dale (Pam) Hastings of Paris, Tenn, and Larry (Beverly) Hastings of Camden, Tenn;  four Grandchildren, William Carlton, Walker Carlton, Kayla Pagan, and Kelsy Light.  

Besides his parents, He was also preceded in death by a Sister, Mary Sue Payne;  Brothers, Gene Smith, Gilbert Hastings, David Hastings, and George Hastings.         

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St., Paris, Tenn., where the visitation will be from 4 – 8 pm Friday, July 15, 2016 and from 10 am – 1 pm Saturday, July 16, 2016.   The Funeral Service will be at LeDon Chapel of Ridgeway Funeral Home at 1:00 pm Saturday, July 16, 2016 with Gary Collier officiating.    Pallbearers will be Dale Hastings, Larry Hastings, Bobby Smith, Chris Hendrix, Randy Hendrix, Jeff Hill, William Carlton and Walker Carlton.

Interment will be at Olive Branch Cemetery in Cottage Grove, Tenn.

Betty Wheat

Betty Carroll Wheat, age 83 of Paris, TN passed away Saturday, July 9, 2016 at Paris Healthcare Center.

Her celebration of life service will be held at First United Methodist Church in Paris, TN on Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at 3:00 P.M. with Gary Collier officiating.

Visitation will be held at the church from 12:00 P.M. until service time at 3:00 P.M.

Betty was born on December 20, 1932 in McKenzie, TN to the late Harry T. Carroll and Lucille Lankford Carroll.

She is survived by daughters: Cynthia (Phil) Agee of Humboldt, TN and Lynn Spellings of Paris, TN; son: Robert (Lee Ann) Wheat of Paris, TN; grandchildren: Clayton Arrington, Amy Thurman, Lindsey Barzizza, Matt Spellings, Will Spellings, Brad Wheat, Ryan Wheat, Ashley Wheatley, and Drew Agee. He is also survived by 11 great-grandchildren. Betty is preceded by sister: Mell McAden and brother: Paul T. Carroll.

Betty was an active member of First United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Ambassador Sunday School Class, a lay leader, a member of Moving Methodist Women’s Circle, and also Chairman of the Evangelism Committee. She served on the United Methodist Paris District Committee on Ordained Ministries. Mrs. Wheat spent her 33 year career in education as a teacher, guidance counselor, consultant with the Tennessee Department of Education and Assistant Superintendent of Henry County Schools until her retirement in 1998. She continued to serve her community as a member of the Quota Club, on the boards for Habitat for Humanity, and Plus Endowment. Betty was a very devoted mother, grandmother and educator and a legacy to all those lives that she touched.

Richard Collins

Richard Collins, age 77 of Paris, TN passed away Saturday, July 9, 2016 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.

His funeral service will be held at McEvoy Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. with Gary Collier officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Cemetery.

Visitation for Mr. Collins will be at McEvoy Funeral home from 4:00 until 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday and after 9:00 A.M. Wednesday until service time at 11:00 A.M.

Mr. Collins was born on February 15, 1939 to the late Richard D. Collins and Hazel Bandy Dinkins. On November 21, 1958 he was married to Maxine Wheatley who preceded on September 3, 2005.

Richard is survived by daughters: Debbie (Tony) Hutcherson of Paris, TN, Peggy (Paul) Kellogg of Paris, TN and Teresa Collins of Franklin, TN; grandchildren: Sharlyn (Michael) McDaniel, John Richard (Alyssa) Eason, Justin (Courtney) Stutzman and Kayleigh Renee Hutcherson; great-grandchildren: John Michael Eason, Dylan Michael McDaniel and Abbey Grace Eason; sister: Peggy Jean Holley of LaGrange, KY; and niece: Geralda Holley Smith of Shelbyville, KY. He is preceded by his mother-in-law: Lizzie Mae Wheatley.

Mr. Collins attended Cottage Grove School and was a member of Union Friendship Baptist Church. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran, worked for the city of Paris for 30 years, and retired as City Street Superintendent. Richard was the owner and operator of Collins Asphalt and Striping.

Mary Lou Underwood

Mary Lou Underwood, age 92, of Jackson, TN, formerly of Puryear, TN, passed away July 6, 2016 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital in Jackson.

Funeral service 1:00PM Saturday, July 9, 2016 at McEvoy Funeral Home. Officiating will be Dr. Barry Scott and Bill Simmons (her Sunday School Teacher) both of Aldersgate United Methodist Church, Jackson, TN.

Visitation Saturday July 9, 2016 11:00AM until service time at 1:00PM.

Mrs. Underwood was born September 30, 1923 in Puryear, TN to the late Robert Love Morris, Sr. and Lena Bethel Hall Morris.  On May 26, 1940 she married Edgar Earl Underwood, he preceded March 30, 1986.

Survived by a daughter: Nancy Wheatley, Huntingdon, TN; son: Danny (Martha) Underwood, Jackson, TN; grandchildren: six; great-grandchildren: eighteen; great-great-grandchildren: four, numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Preceded by sisters: Beth Morris Wilson, Margaret Morris Scarbrough McCuiston, Mildred Frances Morris; brothers: William Benjamin Morris, Robert Love Morris, Jr., John Carson Morris, Thomas Hall Morris and Harry Lee Morris.

She was member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Jackson, TN where she was also a member of Irene Wheat Adult Fellowship Class and the U.M.W.

Jesse Paschall

Jessie Perrin “J.P.”  Paschall, age 81, of Cottage Grove, Tenn., died Wednesday, July  6, 2016, at Morningside of Paris. 

Born in Cottage Grove, TN, he was the son of the late Jessie Green Paschall and the late Dula Mae Hill  Paschall. J.P. was a lifelong farmer.

He is survived by his Brother: Dalton Paschall of Wesley Chapel, Fla.; Special friends: Jim and Earlene Pratt of McKenzie and several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, J. P. was preceded in death by sisters: Clara Elizabeth Cooper and Lille B. Rhodes along with brothers: Howard Paschall, Grover Paschall and Joe Paschall.     

Tommy Cooper, Andy Rhodes, Frank Morris, Jim Pratt, Jerry Paschall and Bobby Paschall will serve as Pallbearers.

Doris Anstey

Doris Anstey of Paris, died July 5, 2016, following a short illness.  She was born in Medina, NY, January 6, 1928, the daughter of Herbert and Dorothy Schaal, who predecease her, along with brothers, Kenneth, Norman, Victor, and sister, Catherine. 

Mrs. Anstey graduated salutatorian of the Medina High School class of 1945.  On August 25, 1945, she married Norman Anstey.  Together they made their home and raised their family in Medina, NY, before moving to Paris in 1977.   Family was held most dear;  she is survived and loved by her children, Cynthia (Richard) Hellert, Brian (Pamela Bloom), Brad (Pamela Tuohey) and Douglas (Celinda Keech); adored by seven grandchildren, Todd (Katia) Hellert, Kimberly (Matthew) Hinderegger, Jennifer (Patrick) Leiting, Brian Anstey II, Blair (Andrew) Klco, Mitchell (Natalie) Anstey, Tara (Rusty) Parker; ten great grandchildren, Jake, Paige, Luke, Andrew, Michaela, Alexandra, Della, Grey, Micah and Noah.

Mrs. Anstey was a woman of many talents. Her exquisite paintings are cherished by her family and many friends in Paris; her knitted and crocheted sweaters, baby blankets, and afghans have been treasured gifts for many, knowing that every stitch was a labor of love.

Funeral arrangements are with Ridgeway.  A celebration of life will be held at the Puryear Baptist Church on Thursday, July 7th at 3 PM.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Puryear Baptist Church, Puryear, TN.

Rickie Ford Rogers

Rickie Ford Rogers, age 58, of Paris, Tenn., died Saturday, July 2, 2016 at Morningside of Paris.

He was a member of Mt. Zion Church of Christ and was a Retired Master Jeweler who previously worked for Rogers Jewelers and Moon Jewelers. He also was a licensed realtor and enjoyed riding motorcycles in his younger years.

Born in Paris, TN, October 4, 1957, he was the son of the late Henry Ford Rogers and the late Nora Lee Ross Rogers.

He is  survived by his one Son, Zachary Ross Rogers of Murray, Ky;  one Sister, Gail Johnson of Indian Harbour Beach , FL;  one Brother in law,  Lowell E. Brown, Jr. of Springville, TN;  and three Nephews, Anthony "Tony" Paul Akers of Satellite Beach, FL,  Jason P. (Audrey) Brewer of Birmingham, AL, and Brian J. Johnson of Maryville, TN.

Besides his parents, he was also preceded in death by a Sister, Cynthia Lee "Cindy" Rogers Brown, and a brother, Dickie Ford Rogers.

Aaron Harris

Aaron Harris, age 65, of Paris, TN, passed away Wednesday, June 30, 2016 at his home in Paris.

Funeral service 12:00PM Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at McEvoy Funeral Home with Overseer T.L. Taylor officiating, burial will follow at New Hope Cemetery.

Named as pallbearers are James Taylor, Mitchell Taylor, James Martin, Howard Williams, Cortez Thompson and James Williams.   Serving as honorary pallbearers are Jerry Spicer, Danny Reynolds, Robert Knowling, Jr., Herbert Warren, Sr., Roosevelt Woodard, and Freeman Coats.

Visitation 10:00AM Wednesday until service time at 12:00PM.

He was born February 6, 1951 in Hayti, MO to Claude Harris, Chicago, IL and Geneva Reynolds, Sacramento, CA and was raised by Edward Rushing, Paris, TN.  On June 5, 2009 he married Laurice Taylor Harris, she survives, Paris, TN.

Survived by daughters: Lisa C. (Mwanga Williams) Moran, Chicago, IL, Jaime Maturo  (William) Phillips, Chicago, IL, Erica M. (Adam) Ritchie, Appleton, WI, Uneka Taylor, Paris, TN, and A. Janel (Andrew) Stroth; sons: Eric (Jennifer) Moran, Escanaba, MI, Brandon Dobbins, Paris, TN; sisters: Trudi (Roosevelt) Woodard, Sacramento, CA, Darlene Cooper, Sacramento, CA, Charlene McDaniel, Sacramento, CA, Freeda (Herbert) Warren, Chicago, IL, Lawanda Williams, Chicago, IL, Sheryl, Trina, Cherine, Sherry all of Chicago, IL; brothers: Danny Reynolds, Sacramento, CA, Jerry Spicer, Philadelphia, PA, Robert (Angela) Knowling, Jr., Denver, CO; fifteen grandchildren,  numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and special friends.

Preceded by sisters: Betty Sue Wilson, Ruby J. Whitfield and a brother: Bobby J. Harris.

Aaron was a member of The Church of The Living God, 116 South Porter Street in Paris. He was a people person who never met a stranger and was considered the life of the party. He worked in dry cleaning business starting as a press operator and working up to Plan Administrator and retired from that position in 2004.

Juanita Shell Johnson

Juanita Shell Johnson, age 62, of Puryear, TN, passed away Wednesday evening, June 29, 2016 at her home.

No service is scheduled at this time.

She was born August 28, 1953 in Paris, TN to the late Marvin Henley Shell and Lorine Martha Gaskins Shell.  On September 20, 1969 she married Phillip Johnson, he survives, Puryear, TN.

Survived by a son: Jason Ryan Shell, Puryear, TN; sisters: Betty Moses, Tellico Plains, TN, Wanda Faye (Dorsey) Dotson, Union City, TN, Lisa (Willie) McGee, Pinson, AL; brother: Marvin E. (Vickie) Shell, Trenton, TN and a number of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great great nieces and great great nephews.

She was preceded by a brother: Michael Henley Shell, at birth.

Opal Gerhard

Opal Geneva Gerhard, age 90, of Dover, Tenn., died Tuesday, June 28, 2016, at Diversicare of Dover in Dover, Tenn.

 

Mrs. Gerhard was a lifelong homemaker.  She was born December 31, 1925 in Bumpus Mills, TN to the late Walter Lee and the late Lila Williams Lee.

 

She was married to Allen "Al" Carlton Gerhard who preceded in death.  She is survived by her three Daughters, Glenda Manning of Middletown, Ohio,  Michelle (Carl) Jones of Franklin, Ohio, and Rebeccah (Todd) Phillips of Middletown, Ohio;  Grandchildren,  Mark Thomas (Cherice) Perry, Christopher Jones, Amy (Stephan) Bowman, Angela (Chad) Humananski, and Steven Proffitt;  Great Grandchildren, Robert Michael Perry, Marc Tyler Perry, Ashley Anne Perry, Cara Perry, Tyler Michael Perry, Robynn Perry, Dylan Jones, Erick Jones, Emily Jones, Gavin Campbell, Braedon Humananski, and Parker Humananski;  and Great Great Grandchildren,  Caleb Perry, Ally Perry, and Connor Perry.

 

Besides her Husband and Parents, she was also preceded in death by a Son, James Bradley Dennis; Sisters, Virginia Rice, and Dimple Jean Lee;  Brothers, Jack Lee, Edward Lee, Robert Lee, Wilson Lee, Glenn Lee, and Dotson Lee; and Grandchildren, Robert Wilson Perry, and Ashley Nicole Proffitt.

 

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St., Paris, Tenn., where the visitation will be from 10 am – 1 pm Friday, July  1, 2016.   The Funeral Service will be at LeDon Chapel of Ridgeway Funeral Home at 1:00 pm Friday, July  1, 2016 will Paul Sausville officiating.  Pallbearers will be Mark Perry,  Christopher Jones, Carl Jones, Michael Perry, Tyler Perry, and Paul Sausville.

 

Interment will be at Williams Cemetery near Dover, Tenn.

Baby Tate Weatherly

Baby Tate Jearld Weatherly, infant son of Adam Robert and Cassie Jo Moody Weatherly of Paris, Tenn., died Saturday, June 25, 2016, at Murray Calloway Co. Hospital in Murray, Ky.

 

Along with his Parents, he is survived by his Brother, Drew Robert Weatherly of Paris, TN;  Grandmother, Pam Gallimore of Buchanan, TN;  Grandparents, Jim Bob and Terri Weatherly of Springville, TN;  Great Grandmother, Jamie Weatherly of Paris, TN;  and Great Grandfather, Roy Hill of Paris, TN.

 

He was preceded in death by Great Grandparents, Billy Jearld and Peggy Hutson Gallimore;  Great Grandfather, Robert C. “Bob” Weatherly;  and Great Grandmother, Georgia A. Cobb Hill.

 

A Private Graveside Service will be held at Puryear City Cemetery with Dr. Robert D. Martin officiating.

Lon Greer

Lon “L.W.” Greer, age 83, of Leesburg, Ga., formerly of Henry County, died Friday, June 24, 2016, at his  Residence in Leesburg, Ga. 

L. W. was a member of Thompson Creek Baptist Church for 65 years and was a U.S. Army Veteran.   He was the former Maintenance and Transportation Supervisor for the Weakley County School System.   He also was a self-employed contract truck driver for the U.S. Mail Service.    He loved Nascar and was a big Richard Petty and Jeff Gordon fan.

He was born December 10, 1932 in the New Boston Community of Cottage Grove, TN to the late Roy Greer and the late Mary Elizabeth Jackson Prince.

L.W. was married on June 5, 1960 to Wanda Fay Thomason Greer of Leesburg, GA for 56 years and she survives.  He is also survived by his one Daughter,  Mary Beth Pilkington of Leesburg, Ga;  two Sons,  William Scott Greer of Como, Tenn, and Lon Wescoat (Jerri) Greer, II of Elberton, Ga; one Brother,  Randall (Peggy) Prince of Paris, Tenn;  five Grandchildren,  Abbey Pilkington, Lon Wescoat Greer III, Faith Greer, Emily Greer and Miranda Greer; and two Nephews, Kyle Prince and Adam Prince.         

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St., Paris, Tenn., where the visitation will be from 4 – 8 pm Monday, June 27, 2016.  Visitation will continue from 11 am – 1 pm Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at Thompson Creek Baptist Church in the Como Community of Paris, TN.   The Funeral Service will be at Thompson Creek Baptist Church at 1:00 pm Tuesday, June 28, 2016  with Billy Ross and Michael Simmons officiating.   Pallbearers will be Adam Prince, Kyle Prince, Mike Baker, Garth Baker, Stanley Shopher, and Johnny Smith.

Interment will follow in Olive Branch Cemetery between Como and Cottage Grove, Tenn.

Mark Harrison

Mark Alan Harrison, age 52, of Springville, Tenn., died Friday, June 24, 2016, at his residence in Springville, Tenn. 

Mark worked as a painter and construction worker for several Years.   He was also a talented musician and enjoyed playing the Guitar.

He was born September 22, 1963 in Memphis, TN to the late Sidney Oliver Harrison and the late Dorothy McNeil Harrison.

He is survived by his one Daughter,  Melissa Blankenship of Springville, Tenn;  two Sons, Mark Harrison of Springville, Tenn, and Billy Wimberly of Springville, Tenn;  11 Grandchildren;  Best Friend, Brad Barton of Paris, TN; and Former Wife, Jan Sprouse of Springville, TN.

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St., Paris, Tenn.  The body will be cremated with a Memorial Service at a Later Date.

Gloria "Susie" Williams

Mrs. Gloria "Susie" Williams of Paris, TN passed away at the age of 58. Her funeral service will be held 2:00 P.M. Thursday, June 30, 2016 at McEvoy Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 4:00 until 8:00 on Wednesday; no visitation is scheduled prior to service on Thursday. Gary Collier will officiate the service with burial following in Hopewell Cemetery in Gleason, TN. Pallbearers are named as; Terry Dillion, Charles Nelson, Jeremy Barger, James Rector, Greg Ogalsby, Kyle Crittendon; Honorary: Jewell Puckett and Jim Buther.

Mrs. Williams was born August 25, 1957 in Chicago, Illinois to the late Donald Williams and Wilimae Green Lowry. On October 26, 1984 she married Richard W. Williams,who survives in Paris, Tennessee.

Survived by daughter; Jessica (Matt) McCormick, Paris Tennessee; sons; Jonathan Pate, Springville, Tennessee; Richard Williams, Jr., Paducah, Kentucky; granchild; Allison Skye Williams, Paris Tennessee; brothers; Matt Williams, Dresden, Tennessee; R.T. Lowery, Gleason, Tennessee; Mrs. Susie is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and special friends. She was preceded by her brother Donald Williams.

Mrs. Williams worked and was a very devoted employee of Pella Windows and Doors of Murray, Kentucky. Susie valiantly fought health issues especially following a heart attack and stroke six weeks ago.

Robert Wallace Porter

Robert Wallace Porter age 86 of Paris, TN passed away Friday, June 24, 2016 at the Henry County Healthcare Center.

His funeral service will be at McEvoy Funeral Home on Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at 2:00 P.M. with burial to follow at Van Dyke Grove Cemetery.

Visitation for Mr. Porter will be at McEvoy Funeral Home on Monday from 4:00 until 7:00 P.M. and after 12:00 P.M. Tuesday.

Robert Porter was born on December 22, 1929 to the late William A. Porter, Sr. and Lois Wiseman Porter. On May 24, 1953 he was married to Shirley Ann who preceded on April 29, 2014.

Robert is survived by daughters: Kathy (Ralph) Walker and Kerry (Shane) Moody both of Paris, TN; grandchildren: Adam Valentine of Murray, KY; Shandus (Ryan) Parish of Nashville, TN; Brandi, Brandon, and Briley Moody of Paris, TN; Chrissie (David) Hamblin of Newbern, TN; Justin (Shelly) Walker of Dyersburg, TN; great-grandchildren: Daylon Moody and Oakley Moody of Paris, TN; Maggie Parish and James Lueco Parish of Nashville, TN; Suzie Clark of Newbern, TN; Jon Ward, Haley, and Chloe Walker of Dyersburg, TN; special sister-in-law: Jean Porter of Paris, TN. He is preceded by brothers: William A. Porter, Jr. and James "J.L." Porter.

Robert was a long time member of New Hope Baptist Church. He was a U.S. Army Veteran serving in the Korean War. He formerly worked at Greer and Hamilton Oil Company as a driver and pump mechanic. Robert had a knack for fixing most anything. He also was known as "Grampy" and adored his grandchildren.

Marjorie Ruth Gateley Jones

Mrs. Marjorie Ruth Gateley Jones of Paris, TN passed away at the age of 88, Friday, June 24, 2016. Her funeral service will be held 11:00 AM, Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at McEvoy Funeral Home. Visitation will be held at McEvoy Funeral Home 4:00-7:00 PM Monday; after 9:00 AM Tuesday. Gary S. Collier of First United Methodist Church will officiate; burial will follow in Palestine Cemetery. Pallbearers are named as; Leland Jones, Nick Jones, Justin Hoffman, Reggie Lyell, Rick Lyell, Alex Bomar, Leslie Sykes, Brent Owens.

Mrs. Jones was born February 2, 1928 in Henry County, TN to the late Joseph Monroe Gateley, Sr. and May Nye Boothe Gateley. She is preceded by her husband Carpenter Edward Jones, who married on Febuary 8, 1945; he preceded Oct. 30, 2008.

Mrs. Jones was a graduate of Springville High School and completed business courses at Bethel College. She was a life long member of the former R.L.D.S. Church serving as church secretary and the Paris Community of Christ. She retired as Receptionist/Switch Board Operator at the former Emerson Electric Company, and also worked at Tecumseh Products and Clippard Plant formerly of Paris. She and her husband operated a dairy and farm which she managed until December 2015.

Anne McClarin Weber

Anne McClarin Weber, age 87 of Paris, TN, passed away Thursday, June 23, 2016 at Paris Healthcare Center in Paris.

Funeral service 10:00AM Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at First United Methodist Church with Dr. Robert Martin and Dr. Derek Weber officiating, burial will follow at Maplewood Cemetery.

Her friends and family will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation 5:00 - 7:00PM Monday June 27, 2016 at McEvoy Funeral Home and after 9:00AM Tuesday at the First United Methodist Church.

She was born February 5, 1929 in Whiteville, TN to the late Paul T. and Frances Miller McClarin.  On May 27, 1951 she married Henry G. Weber, he survives Paris, TN.

Survived by a daughter: Tricia (David Hines) Weber, Santa Carita, CA; sons: Hank(Carlene) Weber, LaPaz, IN, Derek (La Donna) Weber, Fort Wayne, IN, Jason (Will) Weber, Brooklyn, NY; grandchildren: Lindsey Weber, Kelsey Weber,  Rhys Weber, Madeleine Weber.

Preceded by a son: Stephen Reese Weber and a brother: William P. McClarin.

Mrs. Weber was a graduate of Grove High School and Summa cum laude graduate of Lambeth College. While living in northern Indiana she was a teacher in junior high school. Upon returning to Tennessee she taught at Henry County High School until her retirement. Anne was very active in United Methodist Churches all her life. She was a member of UMW, taught Sunday school and she wrote the history of First United Methodist Church in Paris for their 175th anniversary celebration. Tommie L. Dicus

Tommie L. Dicus, age 68, of Paris, Tenn., died Friday, June 24, 2016, at Jackson Madison Co. Gen. Hosp. in Jackson, Tenn. 

Tommie was a 1967 Cottage Grove High School Graduate.   He formerly worked at Holley Carburetor Plant and also served as a Pastor for several years.   He was a retired Funeral Director after working for 35 years at Ridgeway Funeral Home.   Tommie was an active member of West Wood Pentecostal Church of God where he was Worship Leader for many years.   He enjoyed playing his guitar and gospel music of all types.   He Loved God, his family, and spending time with his Grandchildren.  Tommie was a jack of all trades who could fix anything.

He was born March 17, 1948 in Fulton, KY to late Calvin Louis Dicus and the late Maudie Elva Weaver Dicus.

Tommie was married September 28, 2002 to Tamera Gates Dicus of Paris and she survives.  He is also survived by his two Daughters,  Cheryl (Tim) Forrest of Puryear, Tenn,  and Kristin Walters of Paris, Tenn;  Three Sons,  Stephen (Kelly) Dicus of Henry, Tenn,  Tyler Walters of Paris, Tenn, and Austin Walters of Paris, Tenn;  Four Brothers, Harold E. (Jane) Dicus of Paris, Tenn, Garry W. (Lynn) Dicus of Paris, Tenn, Lonnie E. (Connie) Dicus of Paris, Tenn,  and Glynn Larry Dicus of Paris, Tenn;  seven Grandchildren,  Will (Tonya) Forrest, Aaron T. Forrest, Rachael Dicus, Sarah Dicus, Stephen Dicus Jr., Caitlyn Dicus,  and Addison Walters;  two Great Grandchildren, Whitley Forrest, and Addilynn Forrest.

Besides his Parents, Tommie was also preceded in death by a Sister, Elva Riggle.

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St., Paris, Tenn., where the visitation will be from 4 – 8 pm Saturday, June 25, 2016.  Visitation will continue at West Wood Pentecostal Church of God from 10 – 11 am Sunday, June 26, 2016.    The Funeral Service will be at West Wood Pentecostal Church of God at 11:00 am Sunday, June 26, 2016.

 Joe Page will officiate.  Pallbearers will be Stephen Dicus Jr., Will Forrest, Aaron Forrest, Tyler Walters, Austin Walters, and David Dicus.   The Ridgeway Funeral Home staff is named as Honorary Pallbearers. 

 Interment will be at West Wood Cemetery in Paris, Tenn.

Marcia Duncan Keane-Scully

A Graveside service is planned for Saturday June 25, 2016 at Puryear City Cemetery at 2:00 pm for Marcia Duncan Keane-Scully.

Marcia Duncan Keane-Scully, age 93, of Hazel, Ky., died Tuesday, March 29, 2016, at Spring Creek Health Care in Murray, Ky. 

Marcia was born February 27, 1923 in Puryear, TN to the late Edna May Atkins Duncan and the late Edmond Ditzler Duncan.

Upon graduating Puryear High School, she married Thomas Gamlin and moved to Chicago, Illinois.   She had one son, Scott Gamlin, who preceded in death.  She is survived by 2 grandchildren, Tracy and Kate Gamlin.  She was later married to Roy Keane and then Mac Scully, who both preceded in death. 

Marcia spent most of her life in Chicago as an executive secretary then became the owner of a Dress Shop in Chicago, IL.   In the later years of her life, she moved back to the area where she grew up.  She resided in Hazel, Kentucky until a couple of months prior to her death. 

She was also preceded in death by one sister, Loretta Duncan Morris, and five brothers, Fred, Thomas, Cecil (Gene), Max and Jerry Duncan. 

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St., Paris, Tenn.  She is to be cremated with a Graveside Memorial Service to be held at  Puryear City Cemetery at 2:00 pm Saturday June 25, 2016.

Elwood Maxwell

Elwood R. Maxwell age 92 of Murray, KY formerly  of Elkhorn, TN passed away Wednesday June 22, 2016 at  Brookdale Assisted Living in Murray.

His funeral service will be Friday June 24, 2016 10:00AM at McEvoy Funeral Home with Bro. Philip Maxwell and Bro. Randy Stephens officiating, burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Named as pallbearers are Glen Wimberley, Larry Wimberley, Curt Schoolfield, Frankie Maupin, Donnie Linville and  Avery Myers.  Austin Perry, Ben Williamson, Doug Schoolfield, Johnny Gibson, Bob Crockett and Jim Hamilton will serve as honorary pallbearers.

He was born October 18, 1923 in Henry County, TN to the late Ray and Minnie Hicks Maxwell.  On June 4, 1949 he married Connie Owens Maxwell, she survives, Murray, KY.

Survived by sons: Paul (Stephanie) Maxwell, South Fulton, TN, Philip (Tamatha) Maxwell, Murray, KY; grandchildren: Morgan Maxwell, Macy Maxwell, Jeremy Maxwell, Lea  McCool, Ray Maxwell, Anthony Brandenburg, Thomas Brandenburg, Thomas Brandenburg, Mary Grace Starks and several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Preceded by a sister: Laurine Maxwell (Lewis) Jackson and a brother: John Franklin (Charlene) Maxwell.

Elwood was a graduate of Grove High School and played football on the undefeated team in 1940. He was a member of Sulphur Well Church of Christ. He served during WWII in the U.S. Army Air Corp. He was a graduate from U.T. Knoxville with a B.S. in Agriculture Engineering and farmed in the Elkhorn Community for many years; worked and retired from the Michigan Wisconsin Pipeline Company in Cottage Grove, TN. He was a longtime member of the Henry County Historical Society.

Cassie Ann Oliver

Cassie Oliver passed away Friday, June 17, 2016 at her residence.

Funeral service will be Thursday, June 23, 2016 at 11:00 AM at McEvoy Funeral Home with burial to follow at Van Dyke Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 PM Wednesday and after 9:00 AM Thursday all at McEvoy Funeral Home.

Cassie was born October 24, 1981 in Fairfield, TX to Jenny Peterson (Markus) Van Eeden of Paris, TN and the late William Anderson Oliver. She is survived by her daughter, Lola Belle Anderson Oliver of Henry, TN; sisters, Deloris Gilmore of Boca Raton, FL, Debra (Jim) Bower of Oak Ridge, TN and Sheila Oliver of Lakewood, CA; brothers, Richard (Amy) Oliver of Blanco, TX and Steve (Vicki) Oliver of San Antonio, TX; grandparents, Bill (Jeanette) Largent of Lake City, AR; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Alice Petronico

Alice Petronico, age 74, of Paris, Tenn., died Sunday, June 12, 2016, at her residence in Paris, Tenn.

 

Born May 14, 1942 in Hoboken, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Charles Kelsey and the late Catherine Tragonoas Kelsey.   She was married to Patrick Petronico, Sr. who died January 8, 2003.

 

She was a retired Customer Service Manager from Wal-Mart.

 

She is survived by her three sons: Patrick (Jennifer) Petronico of Paris, Tenn., Anthony (Christal) Petronico of Gaylord, Mich., and Timothy (Susan) Petronico of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; One sister, Catherine Brinson of Paris, Tenn.   Ms. Petronico leaves four grandchildren: Mackenzie Petronico, Dominick Petronico, Justin Petronico and Kelly Petronico.

 

Additional survivors include her much loved Grandpuppies: Ozzie, Maxx, Odie, Tabby, Missy and Bella along with her Grandcat: Shadow.  

 

Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by: three sisters, Dorothy Robbins, Helen Morgan and Marge Harvey; and a brother Frederick Kelsey.

 

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St., Paris, Tenn.  She will be cremated with no formal service planned.

 

The family requests any memorials be made the charity of the donor’s choice.

Earline Walker

Earline Campbell Walker, age 85 of Paris, died on Wednesday June 8th at McKenzie Regional Hospital.

She attended Henry High School, worked for Holley Carburetor for 14 years.

Mrs. Walker was a long-time member of Maplewood Baptist Church.  Her life was characterized by a recognition of the needs of others and the willingness to help meet those needs, thereby making their burden lighter.  Her love of family and her influence will be greatly missed.

Visitation will be 1-3pm Friday June 10th, with service time at 3pm at McEvoy Funeral home.

James McBride

James Willis “Jime” McBride, age 75, of Springville, Tenn., died Tuesday, June 7, 2016, at Paris Healthcare & Rehab Center in Paris, Tenn. 

Born July 17, 1940, in Paris, he was the son of the late Willis Trenton “Shorty” McBride and the late Louise VanCleave McBride. Mr. McBride was first married to Virginia Barnes McBride and then secondly to Linda Kay Brown McBride, both who preceded in death.

He was a member of West Paris Baptist Church. Mr. McBride formerly worked as a supervisor at Holley Carburetor Plant until it closed. He then worked and retired from Mansard Island Marina. He founded the Lake area AA group at New Liberty Church and was a loyal member for 34 years to AA.

He is survived by his Daughter, Melissa (Terry) Hollingsworth of Paris, Tenn.; Two Sons, Michael McBride of Buchanan, Tenn. and  Marty McBride of Hazel, KY; three grandchildren: Ashley Michelle Ramos, Justin Michael Ramos and Wyatt Frank Hollingsworth.

Besides his parents and wives, he was also preceded in death by two sisters: Patricia Louise McBride and Priscilla Dean Gupton, along with a brother Fredie Arnold McBride.      

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St. - P.O. Box 788, Paris, Tenn., where the family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM Saturday, June 11, 2016.His funeral service will be at LeDon Chapel Ridgeway Funeral Home at 1:00 PM Saturday, June 11, 2016, with Cliff Evans officiating.  Interment will be at Walker Cemetery in Paris, Tenn.

Family and friends will serve as Pallbearers and Lake Area AA Members will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.

Charley Cutherbertson

Mr. Charley Cuthbertson, age 90 of Paris, TN, passed away Sunday June 5, 2016 at his residence.

Funeral service 1:00PM Wednesday June 8, 2016 at McEvoy Funeral Home with Gary Collier officiating, burial will follow at MT. Zion Cemetery in Benton County, TN.

His grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation 5:00 - 8:00PM Tuesday and after 11:00AM Wednesday until service time.

He was born September 26, 1925 in Benton County, TN to the late Clenty and Lola Belyew Cuthbertson.  On September 7, 1946 he married Sophia "Sophie" Wheatley Cuthbertson, she preceded December 1, 2007.

Survived by daughters: Fran (Don) Webb, Paris, TN, Becky Cheek, Paris, TN; sons: Charlie J. (Janis) Cuthbertson, Paris, TN, Ed (Rhonda) Cuthbertson, Paris, TN; sisters: June Lassandrello, Oak Lawn, IL, sister-in-law: Billie Cuthbertson, Paris, TN; grandchildren: ten; great-grandchildren: numerous and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Preceded by brothers: Joe H. Cuthbertson, Eugene Cuthbertson and James Cuthbertson.

Mr. Cuthbertson served in the U.S. Navy during WWII.  He was a lifetime member of VFW Post #1889 in Paris and was a charter member of American Legion Post #89.  Charley was self-employed most of his life with his fence business.
