Mabel Tyler

Mable Lee Tyler age 86, died Friday April 7, 2017, at the Paris Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.

Born October 17, 1930, in Landersville, AL, she was the daughter of the late Allen Parker and the late Clara Dunlap Parker. She married Jon “Doc” Tyler February 19, 1948, who died December 1, 1982.

Mable Lee was a homemaker who was a member of Fairview Baptist Church. She enjoyed flowers, gardening, listening to gospel music and reading her bible.  Ms. Tyler also sat with terminally ill people.

Survivors include four children: Janice (Dale) Brewer of Paris, Penny (Tobey) Nicholson of Springville, Ronald “Doc T” Tyler of Paris and Larry R. Tyler of Pawpaw, MI; 7 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and several great great grandchildren.

Along with her husband and parents, Mable Lee was preceded in death by four brothers: Ruel J. Parker, Hershel Parker, Billy Ray Parker and Clayton Parker.

Visitation will held be Monday, April 10, 2017 at Ridgeway Funeral Home form 4-7pm and continue on Tuesday, April 11 after 10 am. Her funeral service will be held Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at 11 am in LeDon Chapel of Ridgeway Funeral Home with Bro. Johnny Farmer officiating. Burial will follow in Bethesda Cemetery in Paris.

Ryan Tyler, Jon Tyler, Anthony Sanders, Norman Doster, Mark Burnette and Tobey Coosenberry will serve as Pallbearers. Her granddaughters will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.

Memorials may be made to Fairview Baptist Church 114 Memorial Drive, Paris, TN 38242 or to Bethany Baptist Church 225 Van Dyke Grove Road, Paris, TN 38242.

Joe Jackson

Mr. Joe W. Jackson, age 85 of Paris passed away Friday, April 7, 2017 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital. His funeral service will be 2:00 PM Monday, April 10, 2017 at McEvoy Funeral Home with burial to follow at Birds Creek Cemetery in the Whitlock Community. His family will honor him by conducting his services. Visitation will be Monday from 12:00-2:00 PM prior to the services.

Joe W. Jackson was born July 1, 1931 in Benton, Kentucky to the late Wilson Jackson and the late Blanche Cope Stockdale. On October 2, 1954 he married Emma Lee Wynn Jackson who preceded him in death on June 2, 2016.

Mr. Jackson is survived by two daughters, Rhonda (Jeff) Frasher of Burbank, IL and Donna (Drex) Boyd of Paris, TN; two sons, Gerald W. Jackson of Amarillo, TX and Robert (Rebecca) Jackson of Paris, TN; three sisters, Ruby Farmer of Camden, TN, Shirley Stockdale of Paris, TN, and Linda Cooper of Murray, KY; eight grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.

Mr. Jackson was also preceded in death by one sister, Lorene Rogers; three brothers, Dan Cooper, James Cooper Jr., and Bobby Stockdale; and one grandchild.

Mr. Joe W. Jackson was a Veteran of the United States Army. He loved hunting, fishing, gardening, and the outdoor life.

Selona Jackson

Mrs. Selona Jackson, age 93 of Puryear passed away April 7, 2017 at her residence. Her funeral service will be Saturday, April 8, 2017 at McEvoy Funeral Home with Bro. Bradley Osbourne officiating. Burial will follow in the Conyersville Methodist Church Cemetery in Puryear. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM prior to the service on Saturday. Pallbearers will be Scott Owen, Ricky Owen, Tony Underwood, Steve Underwood, Dale Underwood, and Jeff Perry. Honorary Pallbearer will be Greg Underwood.

Selona Underwood Jackson was born March 5, 1924 in Paris, TN to the late Clarence Lee Underwood and the late Selona Geneva Hendrix Underwood. On December 5, 1944 she married Rex Jackson who preceded her in death on August 17, 2014.

Mrs. Jackson is survived by one daughter, Debbie (Ron) Lovvorn of Puryear, TN; one son, Larry (Sheila) Jackson of Puryear, TN; one brother, Ralph (Joan) Underwood of Burns, TN; two grandchildren, Russell (Melissa) Jackson and Kimberly Jackson; one great grandchild, Ashley Jackson; two step-grandchildren, Shannon McCampbell and Bryan Hedges; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.

Selona Jackson was also preceded in death by one son, Ronnie Jackson; four sisters, Annie Laura Underwood, Ila Bell, Betty Owen, and Dortha Perry; eight brothers, Paul, W.D., T.J., Barkley, Prentice, Stacy, Earl, and Lexie Underwood; and one grandchild Whitney Jackson.

Mrs. Jackson was a member of Russwood Baptist Church. She was part owner of Salmon's Grocery and she was a seamstress for Paris Tailor Shop.

Francis "Bud" Yeadicke

Former Henry Countian, Francis “Bud” Yeadicke, age 92, of McKenzie, TN, died Tuesday, April 4, 2017, at Paris Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center in Paris, TN.

 

Bud retired from Caterpillar Tractor Company in Morton, IL, after 30 years of service.  A veteran of the United States Navy, he was a lifetime  member of the Lincoln, IL VFW Post, and a member of the American Legion Post 89 at Paris Landing.  He attended Bethany Baptist Church.

 

Bud was born March 30, 1925, in Plankinton, SD, to the late John Walter Yeadicke and the late Iva Mae Tucker Yeadicke.

 

He was married November 8, 1947, to Leona Alberta Long Yeadicke, who preceded him in death on November 25, 2008.

 

He is survived by two daughters, Shirley (Terry) Smith of Scottsdale, AZ, and Myrtle (Marty) Pintar of Secor, IL; two sisters, Ora “Betty” Lynch of Peoria, IL, and Mildred Lamprecht of Peoria, IL; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

 

In addition to his parents and wife, he was also preceded in death by one daughter, Susan Brasfield; one sister, M. “Lauraine” Love; one brother, John Clifford Yeadicke; and one grandchild, Bradley Wolstenholm.

 

Arrangements are be handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St, Paris, TN.  The body is to be cremated.  A memorial service will be held Monday April 10, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Bethany Baptist Church with Bro. Johnny Farmer officiating

 

Burial will be in Bevil Cemetery.

Paul Edward Atkins

Paul Edward Atkins, age 84, of Paris, TN and longtime Cottage Grove resident,  died Tuesday, April 4, 2017, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital in Jackson, TN.

 

Paul was a life-long farmer in the Cottage Grove community.  He also retired from the Tennessee Department of Transportation after 15 years of service.  He was a member of East Wood Church of Christ, and long-time member of Cottage Grove Church of Christ.  Paul was fondly known for his sense of humor in all situations.  He enjoyed fishing, gardening, and attending his grandchildren’s ballgames.

 

Paul was born July 25, 1932, in Palmersville, TN, to the late John Thomas Atkins and the late Wilma Lee Simmons Atkins.

 

He was married on July 24, 1960, to Betty Johnson Atkins, who survives, of Paris, TN.  Along with his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Alicia (Anthony) Dickson of Paris, TN; two sons, Jeff (Teri Lynn) Atkins of Paris, TN, and Craig (Michele) Atkins of Paris, TN; six grandchildren, Claire Dickson, John Thomas Atkins, Emma Kate Atkins, Pierce Atkins, Perry Atkins, and Paul D. Atkins.

 

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by one brother, William Atkins; and one grandchild, Trent Dickson.

 

Arrangements are be handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St, Paris, TN.  Visitation will be Friday April 7, 2017 from 4:00-8:00 pm at Ridgeway Funeral Home, and continue Saturday April 8, 2017 from 10:00-11:00 am.  The funeral service will be Saturday, April 8, 2017 at 11:00 am at LeDon Chapel of Ridgeway Funeral Home, with David Alan Jackson officiating.  

 

Serving as pallbearers will be John Thomas Atkins, Jimmy Atkins, David Atkins, Pierce Atkins, Perry Atkins, Paul D. Atkins, and Jay Johnson.

 

Burial will follow in Walker Cemetery.

Janice M. Mann

Janice M. Mann, age 91, of Paris, TN, died Thursday, March 30, 2017, at Henry County Medical Center in Paris, TN.

Janice was a member of First United Methodist Church.  She formerly worked at M. Livingston Wholesale Grocery in Paris and was a former treasurer for the VFW Ladies Auxiliary.  She was also a garden club member and enjoyed bowling in the Early Bird Bowling League.   

Born September 21, 1925 in Paris, TN, she was the daughter of the late William Herbert Maxedon and the late Mae Maxwell Maxedon.  

Janice was married to John T. Mann on September 24, 1950 and he preceded in death on March 31, 2014.   

Janice is survived by one son, John Michael “Mike” (Jamie) Mann of Paris, TN; two grandchildren, Matthew Mann, and Amy E. Mann & Fiance’ Michael Williams;  two great grandchildren, Madison and Bailey Williams;  several nieces and nephews; and a special family caregiver, Betty Noss. 

Besides her husband and parents, Janice was also preceded in death by two sisters, Margaret MacDonald, and Joan Huff; and one brother, Earl Maxedon.   

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St, Paris, TN.  Visitation will be Saturday, April 1, 2017, from 4 - 6 pm at Ridgeway Funeral Home, and continue on Sunday, April 2, 2017, from 12 - 2 pm at Ridgeway Funeral Home.  The funeral service will be Sunday, April 2, 2017, at 2:00 pm at LeDon Chapel of Ridgeway Funeral Home with Dr. Rob Martin of First United Methodist Church officiating.  Pallbearers will be Jim MacDonald, David MacDonald, Mike Davis, Eric Davis, and Matthew Mann.   VFW and Ladies Auxiliary members are named as Honorary Pallbearers.

Burial will follow at Maplewood Cemetery.

Bertie Marie Hamilton

Bertie Marie Hamilton, age 81 of Springville, TN, died Wednesday March 29, 2017 at Henry County Medical Center.

 

Bertie Marie was a member of Russwood Baptist Church and enjoyed serving in the church.  She was retired from an Advertising Agency.    She enjoyed gardening and spending time with her grandchildren.  Bertie Marie was an avid book reader and loved watching crime shows like Columbo and Matlock on TV.

 

Born November 9, 1935 in Gallant, AL, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Clifton Freeman and the late Beatrice Clarice Dockery Freeman.

 

Bertie Marie was married on October 19, 1957 to Jerol Hamilton and he survives of Springville, TN.   She is also survived by three daughters, Renee’ Sims of Highland, MI, Ronda (Harold) Pruitt of Dexter, KY, and Maggie Hamilton of Ft. Wayne, IN;  one sister, Pauline Davis of Taylors, SC; one brother-in-law, Bill Good of Michigan;  11 grandchildren, Kristen Yutzy, Vanessa Sims, Brooke Sims, Stacie Crowell, Sherry Wells, Matthew Pruitt, Bradley Wells, Michele Hamilton, Kimberly Bennett, Mary Hamilton and Suzie Hamilton; and 9 great grandchildren.

 

Besides her parents, Bertie Marie was also preceded in death by a son, Randall Hamilton; three sisters, Louise Thorne, Ruth Motdoch, and Nelda Good; and one brother, James Freeman.     

 

Arrangements are be handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St, Paris, TN.  Visitation will be Friday March 31, 2017 from 4-7 pm at Ridgeway Funeral Home and Saturday April 1, 2017 from 12-2 pm at Russwood Baptist Church with the funeral service at the church Saturday at 2:00 pm with Rev. Raymond Eaton officiating.   Family members will serve as Pallbearers.

William Earl “Biscuit” Olin Jr.

William Earl “Biscuit” Olin Jr., age 54 of Paris, TN, died Monday, March 27, 2017 at Henry County Healthcare Center in Paris, TN.

Born February 9, 1963 in Melrose Park IL, he was the son of the late William Earl Olin, and Mary Ann Giertz Olin, who survives of Paris, TN.

He worked several years for J. R. Hayes Construction until September of 2015, and he enjoyed working on cars.

Besides his mother he is survived by one son, Nicholas W. Zawojski of Plainfield, IL; one sister, Linda Marie (John) Walsh of Crystal Lake, IL; one niece, Lauren (John) Dominici of Crystal Lake, IL; one nephew, Johnny Walsh of Crystal Lake, IL; and a great niece, Natalie R. Dominici of Crystal Lake, IL.

Visitation will be held Tuesday March 28, 2017 from 4 pm until 7pm and continue on Wednesday March 29, 2017, from 12:00 pm until the time of the service. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at 2:30 pm at LeDon Chapel of Ridgeway Funeral Home with Brian Wimberley officiating.

Pallbearers will be David Hayes, Kevin Reynolds, Randy Smith, Tommy Counts, Ron Frisch, Steven Thomas, and Matt  Hayes.

Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Trina Wagers

Trina Kaye Wagers, age 53, of Paris, TN died Sunday, March 26, 2017 at her residence. She was a homemaker and member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.

Born October 24, 1963, in Paris, she was the daughter of the late Kenneth List and the late Linda Weatherford Hutson.

She is survived by three sons: Kenneth Benefiel of Paris, Cecil Benefiel of Puryear and Shawn Wagers of Paris; two sisters: Stacey (Dennis) Pittenger of Murray, KY and Melissa List of Paris and a brother: Kenny List of Paris; two grandchildren: Cecil Robert Benefiel, Jr. and Jocelyn Monroe Benefiel.

Additional survivors include several nieces and nephews and an aunt, Shirley Weatherford of Paris.

Along with her parents, she was also preceded in death by a brother, William List.

Her memorial visitation will be held Friday, March 31, 2017 at the Seventh-day Adventist Church from 11 AM – 1PM with the memorial service to follow at 1PM with Pastor Charles Kohley officiating.

Wanda Ball

Mrs. Wanda Hart Ball, age 67 of Paris passed away Thursday, March 23, 2017 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital. Her Celebration of Life will be at Fairview Baptist Church at 11:00 AM Saturday, April 1, 2017 with Dr. John Smith officiating. There will be no visitation prior to the Celebration of Life.

Wanda Sue Hart was born on December 18, 1949 in Paris, Tennessee to Raymond Hart of Paris, Tennessee and the late Sue Nell Farris Hart. On May 22, 1989 she married Glynn "Bubba" Ball who survives in Paris, Tennessee. She is also survived by a daughter, Kim (Larry) Collums of Springville, TN; one sister, Brenda (Danny) Robbins of Paris, TN; two step-daughters, Rachel (Rex) Ruddle of Henry, TN and Angie Ball of Paris, TN; six grandchildren, Courtland and Kristofer Collums, Rob and Ashley Underwood, Britney (Brandon) Susewitt, and Alivia Gream; one great grandchild, Pyper Rose Lee; and a niece, Lauren (Michael) Goff.

Mrs. Ball attended Fairview Baptist Church in Paris.

Fred Oliver

Mr. Fred Oliver, age 68 of Palmersville, Tennessee passed away Saturday, March 25, 2017 at his residence. No services are scheduled. 

Fred Oliver was born June 26, 1948 in Paris, Tennessee to the late Claud Thomas Oliver and the late Ruth Glynn Stephenson Oliver. On November 24, 2005 he married Barbara Ann Castle Oliver who survives in Palmersville, TN. He is also survived by three daughters, Julie, Jennifer, and Jana Oliver all of Dresden, TN; one step-son, Jeremy (Mellanie) Roberts of Manhattan, Kansas; one sister, Joan (Ray) Hart of Lake City, Florida; one brother, Glenn (Marilyn) Oliver of Cottage Grove, TN; and seven grandchildren. 

Mr. Oliver was a Veteran serving four years in the United States Navy and a member of the Church of Christ. He was a volunteer driver for the Church of Christ Disaster Relief out of Nashville for over 25 years.

Aaron Dobbs

Aaron H. Dobbs Jr., age 67 of Paris, TN, died Wednesday, March 22, 2017, due to complications from a recent accident at his residence.

Aaron grew up in Paris, TN, where he was well known in his hometown as a person who served the community and tried to help those in need.   He joined the U.S. Army, and served two tours in the Republic of Vietnam as well as other military stations.

He is survived by one daughter, Danielle R. Dobbs of Hermitage, TN.; one son, Aaron H. Dobbs; two brothers, Steven Dobbs of Hermitage, TN, and James L. Hartsfield of Paris, TN; several grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

There will be a graveside service on Tuesday, March 28th at 2pm at Maplewood Cemetery.

Owen Baucum

Mr. Owen Baucum age 89 of Paris, Tennessee passed away on Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at the Henry County Medical Center. His funeral service will be held at McEvoy Funeral Home, 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, March 29, 2017 with Bro. Thomas Winchester of Union Friendship Baptist Church and Bro. Bobby Campbell of Central Point Baptist Church officiating. Visitation is scheduled at McEvoy from 5:00 until 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday and again after 9:00 A.M. on Wednesday.

Owen was born in Henry County on October 25, 1927 to Herbert Baucum and Ethel Owen Baucum, both preceded. He married Bobbie Elkins on April 5, 1947 and she survives in Paris. Mr. Baucum is also survived by his daughter: Margie (Alvin) Shankle of Paris; grandchild: Heather (Luther) Ray of Paris; great-grandchildren: Ashlynn Ray and Alyssa Ray; and by nieces, nephews and special friends. He is also preceded in death by his sister: Imogene Cooper; sister: Karen Baucum who died in infancy; brother: John "Mac" Baucum; and brother: Theron Baucum who died in infancy.

Mr. Baucum was a longtime member of Central Point Baptist Church. He farmed for many years in the New Boston Community. Owen loved horses, attending many horse sales and going on trail rides with his wife and friends. He was an avid gardener, enjoyed working in his garden and often grew extra that went to his family and friends. Owen always loved to visit and share stories about the good ole days.
