Virginia Hughes Cleary, age 81 of Springville, TN, passed away Friday at her residence.

Funeral service 2:00PM Sunday, March 13, 2016 at McEvoy Funeral Home with Gary Collier officiating, burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Family and friends will service as pallbearers.

Visitation: 4:00 - 7:00PM Saturday March 12, 2016 and after 12:00PM Sunday.

She was born September 13, 1934 in McNairy County, TN to the late Alvin Stenson Hughes and Nola Gertrude Taylor Hughes.  On June 11, 1950 she married James F. Cleary, he survives, Springville, TN.

Survived by grandchildren: James Gene "Jimmy" Cleary, Lyons, IL, Kelly Lynn Cleary, Villa Park, IL; great-grandchildren: four; sisters: Barbara (Carl) Simmons, Lexington, TN, Patricia (Danny) Cleek, Memphis, TN, Deborah (Ricky) Austin, Humboldt, TN; brothers: Charles (Susie) Hughes, Gadsden, TN, Phillip (Martha) Hughes, Eva, TN; special niece: Theresa Simmons-Jones, Lowell, IN.

Preceded by sons: James "Jim" Cleary, preceded 2001, Terry Lynn Cleary, preceded 2007; sister: Wanda Kay Hughes, preceded 2012; brothers: Alvin "Junior" Hughes and Jerry Hughes.

Mrs. Cleary was Baptist by faith.

Ella Alene Patterson Harvey

Ella Alene Patterson Harvey , age 95, of Worthington, OH formerly of Paris, TN, passed away Thursday March 10, 2016 at The Laurels of Norworth in Worthington, OH.

Graveside service 10:00AM Tuesday March 15, 2016 at the New Prospect Cemetery in Carroll County, TN.

No visitation is scheduled.

She was born August 19, 1920 in Hollow Rock, TN.

April 8, 1939 she married Earley Harrison Harvey, he preceded April 28, 1996.

Survived by a daughter: Margaret (John) Seymore, Columbus, OH and a son: James Ira (Mary Ann) Harvey, Gainesville, FL.

Thomas "Tommy" Smith

Thomas Edward "Tommy" Smith, age 62 of Paris, died Thursday March 10th at the HCMC.

Visitation will be After 10am until service time at Noon on Saturday March 12th at McEvoy Funeral home. Burial will follow at Bevil Cemetery.

Gary Shafer

Gary Shafer, age 65, of Grove City, OH, formerly of Paris, TN, died Thursday, March 3, 2016, at Mt. Carmel West in Columbus, Ohio.

He was a retired Truck Driver from Yellow Freight Trucking Co.

Gary was born August 31, 1950 in Paris, TN to the late Russel Gordon Shafer and the late Virginia Pennington Shafer.

He is survived by his one Sister,  Sandra Knight of Grove City, Ohio;  two Brothers,  Danny (Lisa) Shafer of Manns Choice, Pa and Larry (Kathy) Shafer of Cheyenne, Wyo; and several Nieces and Nephews.       

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St., Paris, Tenn., where the visitation will be from 11 am – 1 pm Saturday, March 12, 2016.    The Funeral Service will be at LeDon Chapel of Ridgeway Funeral Home at 1:00 pm Saturday, March  5, 2016. 

David Alan Jackson will officiate and Interment will be at Walker Cemetery in Paris, Tenn.

Jim Amburgey

James “Jim” Amburgey, age 67, of Henry, Tenn., died Tuesday, March  8, 2016, at the Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Mo. 

In his early years Jim enjoyed traveling around the world with a carnival providing pony rides.  He had also been a member of Explorer Scouts when he was younger.   He was the Owner of Circle A Fundraisers for over 30 years and Circle A Donkeys.   He was a member of Palestine United Methodist Church and also a former member of Henry Co. Jaycees and Past member of Henry Co. Saddle Club and Elks Lodge.  He also formerly worked in the home remodeling business.

Jim was born April 6, 1948 in Dayton, OH to the late James Denzil Amburgey and the late Betty Jane Roush Amburgey McComsey.

He was married December 9, 1971 to Brenda Kay Wright Amburgey, and she survives.  He is also survived by his three Daughters, Monique Amburgey of Henry, Tenn, Jennifer (Chris) Ashby of Buchanan, Tenn, and Megan Amburgey & Special Friend Shane Gordon of Henry, Tenn;  one Son,  James Dustin Amburgey & Special Friend Alli Hilton of Henry, Tenn;  one Sister, Janie (Jim) Burns of McKenzie, Tenn;  one Brother, Gary Dale Amburgey of Henry, Tenn;  one Granddaughter, Jade Necole Hayes;  two Step Grandchildren, Sayge and Saylor Ashby;  Father-in-law,  Kenneth Wright; and Step Father, John (Carol) McComsey.          

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St., Paris, Tenn., where the visitation will be from 4 – 8 pm Saturday, March 12, 2016.  Visitation will continue on Sunday March 13, 2016 at Palestine United Methodist Church from 12:30 pm to 2:00 pm with the Funeral Service at the church at 2:00 pm Sunday, March 13, 2016.

Alan Trull, Trish Trull and Debra McGuire will officiate the service.   Pallbearers will be Dustin Amburgey, Chris Ashby, Shane Gordon, Chris Miles, Steve Miles, and Kevin Gallimore.   Named as Honorary Pallbearers are Jim Burns, Steve Sanders, Leroy Hamlin, Joe Hamlin, and Roy Wright.

Interment will be at Brogdon Cemetery in Henry, Tenn.

William Denman

William Bruce Denman, age 82, of Buchanan, Tenn., died Saturday, March 5, 2016, at his residence.

Born July 29, 1933 in Anderson, IN, he was the son of the late Ralph V. Denman and the late Maymie Beatrice Roberts Denman.   He was widowed by Marilyn Denman in 2011.

Denman was a U.S. Army veteran who served in the Korean War.  He worked at General Motors for 14 years and then logged over 3 million miles as a truck driver until his retirement.  He enjoyed going dancing and playing his washtub bass with friends.

He is survived by his two sons: William (Carol) Denman, Jr. of Kissimmee, Fla. and Ripley (Pam) Denman of Anderson, Ind.; a sister Marilyn (Lyle) Eaton of Jonesboro, Ind.; a brother-Thomas D. (Carol) Denman of Buchanan, TN., 7 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild, and a special friend, Melba Baird of Rutherford, Tenn.

Besides his parents and wife he was preceded in death by a son: Russell Brian Denman.

He is to be cremated with his remains scattered at Frazier’s Chapel near Sparta, TN.

Terry Varneke

Terry Varneke, age 56, of Paris, Tenn., died Saturday, March 5, 2016, at her residence in Paris, Tenn. 

 

She was a Catholic, and had formerly worked at McDonald's in Camden, Tenn.  She also formerly worked as a physical therapist at Paul Kimball Hospital in Lakewood, N.J.

 

She was born March 17, 1959 in Brooklyn, N.Y., to the late John Russell Krell and the late Joan Veronica Augus Krell.

 

Terry married Joe Varneke, Jr. November 19, 1979, and he preceded her in death on June 1, 2013.

 

She is survived by one daughter, Renee (Shawn) Stanley of Lakewood, N.J.; four sons, Phillip (Donna) Varneke of Paris, Tenn., Thomas Varneke & Andrea Schornak of Paris, Tenn., Michael (Melinda) Varneke of Paris, Tenn., and Joseph A. Varneke, III of Lakewood, N.J.; one sister, Mary (John) Standowski of Jackson, New Jersey; one brother, John (Diane) Krell of Harmony, N.C.; five grandchildren, Phillip Varneke, Roger Varneke, Rebecca Varneke, Jaylynn Varneke, Catherine (John) Colon; and two

great-grandchildren, Jacob Colon and Theodore Colon.

 

Besides her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by a brother, Rusty Krell.

She will be cremated with a service at later date.

Judy Piskos

Judith Katherine Neubeaur Piskos, age 69, of Jackson, Tenn., passed away Saturday, March 5, 2016, at her residence in Jackson, Tenn.

 

She was a member of the Northside United Methodist Church in Jackson, TN and she formerly owned and operated Lea's Hallmark in Paris.  Judy was an avid golfer and she loved watching her grandchildren play all types of sports.

 

Judy was born July 26, 1946 to in St. Louis, Mo to the late Vernon Neubeaur and the late Esther Sophie Kritsch Neubeaur.

 

She is survived by her Daughter, Jenni (Shaun) Harding of Norfolk, Va;  two Sons,  Pete (Amy) Piskos of Paris, Tenn., and Jeff (Anita) Piskos of Camden, Tenn;  two Sisters, Ann Marie (Larry) Stohs of Columbia, S.C. and Susan Sutton of Kilen, Ala.  Additionally she leaves six grandchildren, Parker Piskos, Sophie Piskos, Olivia Fowler, Princeton Piskos, JonGlenn Harding and Katherine Harding.     

 

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St., Paris, Tenn.  She is to be cremated.

 

Memorial Visitation will be at Northside United Methodist Church, 2571 N. Highland Ave, Jackson, TN  38305 from 12 – 2 pm Saturday March 12, 2016 with her Memorial Service at 2:00 pm at Northside United Methodist Church.

Janice Thorne

Janice Ann Thorne, age 72, of Paris, Tenn., died Sunday, March 6, 2016, at Henry County Healthcare Center in Paris, Tenn.  

She was a member of Puryear Primitive Baptist Church. She retired from Emerson Electric with 30 years service, and was the first female union steward at Emerson Electric Paris Division. She also worked at Henry County Healthcare and Rehab Center.

She was born November 13, 1943, to the late James Mohundro and the late Geneva Mohundro.

She is survived by her three daughters, Tanya Raye (Roger) Beard of Big Sandy, Tenn., Tammy Lynn (Scott) Collins of Paris, Tenn., and Rhonda Kay (David Gilbreth) Arnold of Big Sandy, Tenn.; two sons, Butch (Molly) Curtindale of Cookeville, Tenn., and Michael Eugene (Lee Ann) Thorne of Paris, Tenn.;        11 grandchildren, Kristen Curtindale, Justin Curtindale, Enji Ganzorig, Jean Ganzorig, Brandon Curtindale, Mandy Arnold, Samantha Arnold, Shelly Beard, Joshua Beard, Jarred Thorne & Jordan Thorne.; and two great-grandchildren, Hunter Boyd & Asher Arnold.

Alma Jean Dickerson

Alma Jean Dickerson, age 82 of Paris, TN , passed away Friday March 4, 2016 at her residence in Paris.

Visitation Saturday, March 12, 2016, 1:30PM until service time at the church.

She was born December 8, 1933 in Frog Jump, TN to the late Thomas  Little and Tempy Ann Eatman Little.  On March 30, 1962 she married Floyd Dickerson, he preceded January 30, 2013.

Survived by a daughter: Betty (David) Benson, Sterling, IL; sons: John Dickerson, Paris, TN, Kenny (Tracy) Dickerson, Palmersville, TN, Richard Dickerson, Sterling, IL; grandchildren: Seth Benson, Shaun Dickerson, Shelby Dickerson, Brady Dickerson, Raven Dickerson,  Natasha Dickerson and one brother.

Preceded by two sisters and two brothers.

Mrs. Dickerson was a longtime member of Union Friendship Baptist Church.  She was dedicated to her family and church family.

Bill Hudson

Richard S. “Bill” Hudson, age 75, of Paris, Tenn., died Wednesday, March 2, 2016, at his residence in Paris, Tenn. 

 

Bill was a member of First Baptist Church where he was a Deacon and long time Sunday School Teacher.  He retired after 30 years with the Henry Co. School system as Assistant Principal at Henry County High School.  Bill was a member of Paris Masonic Lodge and Manager of the South Paris Water Co-op.  He was an NFL Alum and was inducted into the Sports Hall of Fame in Henry County, Memphis State and the State of Tennessee.

 

He was born July 30, 1940 in Memphis, TN to the late Finus Edward Hudson and the late Mildred Ruth Smith Hudson.

 

Bill married Glenda Ross Hudson December 18, 1960 and she survives.  He is also survived by his one Daughter, Mary Kate Cepparulo of Paris, Tenn;  two Sons,  Ross Hudson of Paris, Tenn, and John (Ginny) Hudson of Hollow Rock, Tenn;  eight Grandchildren, John Ross (Brooklyn) Hudson, Jake (Bri) Hudson, Will (Cassie) Hudson, Sarah Beth (Russ) Huffstetler, Celie Hudson, Caroline Hudson, Lewis Hudson, and Hudson Cepparulo;  and four Great Grandchildren, Annaliese Hudson, Henry Huffstetler, Todd Hudson, and Greyde Ross Hudson.

 

Besides his Parents, Bill was also preceded in death by a Son, William Todd Hudson; and Brother, Franklin Eugene Hudson.

Bill Yeargin

William H. “Bill” Yeargin, age 85, of Puryear, Tenn., died Wednesday, March  2, 2016, at Benchmark Healthcare of Puryear in Puryear, Tenn. 

He was a US Army Veteran and a Member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

Bill was born April 8, 1930 in Dyersburg, TN to the late William F. Yeargin and the late Ivie E. Rainey Yeargin.

Bill was married in 1954 to Joan A. Yeargin and she survives.  He is also survived by his one Son,  James "Jim" Yeargin of Puryear, Tenn.       

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St., Paris, Tenn.

He is to be cremated, no service is planned.  

Robbie Clayton

Robbie "Bobby" Clayton, age 67 of Puryear, TN passed away Wednesday March 2, 2016 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital in Jackson, TN.

Funeral service 10:00AM Saturday March 5, 2016 at McEvoy Funeral Home with Bro. John Smith of Fairview Baptist Church officiating, burial will follow at Cox Cemetery.

Named as pallbearers are Michael Guffey, Jason Hall and Jerry Clayton.

He was born in Paris, TN to the late Ellis Mathis Clayton and Jessie B. Boyd Clayton. 

He was married to Linda Sue Gargus Clayton, she preceded February 10, 2001.

Survived by a daughter: Lila (Joey) Davis, Puryear, TN; son: Darrell Gargus, Paris, TN; grandchildren: Wesley Dakota Green, Chelsey Shantel Clayton, Derek Brandon Davis, Anthony Hunter Davis; great-grandchild: Savannah Lynn Green; brother: Kenneth Clayton, Puryear, TN and several nieces and nephews.

Preceded by two brothers: Anthony "Tony" Burton Clayton and Jimmy Ellis Clayton.

Mr. Clayton was a Vietnam Army Veteran.

Dartha Barton

Dartha Linville "Dot" Barton, age 90 of Paris, TN, passed away Tuesday March 1, 2016 at Henry County Healthcare in Paris.

Funeral service  2:00PM  Saturday March 5, 2016 at McEvoy Funeral Home with Bro. John Dale of Glendale Church of Christ officiating, burial will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation 12:00Noon until service time Saturday.

She was born in Calloway County, KY to the late George E. and Bess Taylor Linville.  On November 16, 1946 she married James Buford Barton, he preceded July 5, 2010.

Survived by a son: Bobby (Karen) Barton, Paris, TN; grandson: Lee (Larissa Morningstar) Barton, Henderson, TN and several nieces and nephews.

Preceded by a sister: Sue Salmon and a brother: Garvin Linville.

Mrs.  Barton was a longtime member of East Wood Church of Christ.  She was a retired bookkeeper from the Paris Livestock Commission and from Joe and Jerry's Car Care Center.  She also formerly worked at East Wood Clinic.

Mary Apuzzo

Mary Lafever Apuzzo, age 92, of Murray, Ky., died Tuesday, March 1, 2016, at Spring Creek Health Care in Murray, Ky. 

Mary was a retired shipping specialist with Ram Golf Company in Chicago, IL.  She was a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church and she enjoyed reading.

She was born October 26, 1923 in Puryear, TN to late Samuel Lafever and the late Vera McSwain Lafever.

Mary was married in 1945 to Frank Apuzzo and he preceded in death in 1974.  She is survived by her one Daughter,  Patricia Gilliam of Murray, Ky;  one Sister, Dorothy Mock of Paris, Tenn;  one Sister-in-law, Ann Lafever of Paris, TN;  four Grandchildren, Ronald French of Murray, KY, Kimberly (Jack) Parker of Murray, KY,  Raymond (Nell) French of Murray, KY, and Tracy French of Murray, KY;  7 Great Grandchildren;  and 4 Great Great Grandchildren. 

Besides her Husband and Parents, Mary was also preceded in death by Sisters, Thelma Lafever, Verna Eyman, Eula Kimbro, and Ranice Manier;  and Brothers,  Walton Lafever, Willard Lafever, Waylon Lafever, and Winfred Lafever;  and One More Sibling in Infancy.

Stanley Cooper

Stanley Hill Cooper, Jr., age 88 of Paris, TN, passed away Monday March 1, 2016 at his residence in Paris.

Funeral service 2:00PM Friday March 4, 2016 at McEvoy Funeral Home with Pastor David Allbritten of Kirksey United Methodist Church, Kirksey, KY officiating, burial will follow at Memorial Cemetery.

Named as pallbearers are George Whitfield, Doug Braden, Fred Patterson, Lou Carter, Keith Chilcutt and Kenny Hunt.  Mike Brown, Kenny Paschall, Luke Welch, Jim Rushing, Doc Sanders and John Harrison will serve as honorary pallbearers.

He was born November 18, 1927 in Red Level, AL to the late Stanley Hill Cooper, Sr.  and Lois Costen Cooper.  On July 24, 1961 he married Dovie Cole Cooper, she preceded June 22, 2011.

Survived by sons: Anthony Costen "Tony" (Becky Martinez) Cooper, Houston, TX, Michael Wallace Cooper, Dallas, TX, Tracy Lynn Cooper, Paris, TN & Dallas, TX, Randall Edwin "Randy" French, Lexington, SC; grandchildren: Ryan Anthony Cooper, Greenfield, TN, Cameron Michael Cooper, Dallas, TX, Sterling Costen Cooper, Dallas, TX, Leah Catherine Cooper, Houston, TX, Lauren Elizabeth Cooper, Houston, Tx; great-grandchildren: Lexi Williamson, Greenfield, TN, Ryker Costen Cooper, Greenfield, TN, Ramsey Cooper, Greenfield, TN, Christina McAlister, Greenfield, TN; special friend: Marge McGarity.

Stanley was a U.S. Marine veteran and past commander of VFW Post #1889.

He was a three-sport star at Grove, lettering in track, football and basketball before graduating in 1946. He attended Mississippi State University on a basketball scholarship and graduated from Murray State University.

He taught in the Henry County school system for 40 years and coached at Puryear, Henry and Henry County high schools for 25 years.

He also coached at Bethel college in McKenzie for three seasons and finished his coaching career with an overall record of 809 win vs. 400 losses.

Cooper worked with the Elks Hoop Shoot competition for many years and helped direct the former parks program at Ogburn Park. He directed girls’ basketball camps in the summer while coaching at HCHS.

He worked as a referee in junior high and high school games. He also called games in the former Biddy Basketball youth league. For many years Cooper served as an organizer of adult baseball leagues in Henry County.

While at HCHS, Cooper taught driver education and had three students win state championships.

Frank Smith

Walker Franklin “Frank” Smith, age 69, of Buchanan, Tenn., died Sunday, February 28, 2016, at Henry County Medical Center in Paris, Tenn. 

Frank was a US Army veteran of the Vietnam War.  He worked as a lighting specialist in Memphis, TN for 27 years before retiring to Henry County in 2001.  He was an avid fisherman who enjoyed being out on the water every chance he could.  He loved spending time with his Children and Grandchildren and his stories were always enjoyed by everyone he told them to.

He was born April 20, 1946 in Paragould, AR to the late Walker William Smith and the late Lessie B. Parker Smith Glover.

Frank was married on August 15, 1964 to Glenda Sue Garner Smith and she preceded him in death December 5, 2015.   He is survived by his two Sons,  William Franklin "Bill" (Carla) Smith of Avon, Ind, and James Christopher Smith of Southaven, Miss;  one Sister, Marjorie Neal of Dyersburg, Tenn;  four Grandchildren, London (Dual) Evans and Loghan, Lauren, and Lance Smith;  two Great Grandchildren, Baylee Anne Adams and Hudson Reid Evans; and Long Time Family Friend, Linda Wheeler of Kennett, MO. 

Besides his Wife and Parents, Frank was also preceded in Death by his Step Father, L.P. Glover.

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St., Paris, Tenn., where the visitation will be from 11 am – 2 pm Thursday, March  3, 2016.   The Funeral Service will be at LeDon Chapel of Ridgeway Funeral Home at 2:00 pm Thursday, March  3, 2016.

Edward "Ed" Smith will officiate and Pallbearers will be Alex Campbell, Chip Wallace, Wesley Nunn, Jeff Stafford, Dual Evans, and Will Taylor. 

Interment will be at New Liberty Cemetery in Buchanan, Tenn.

Hazel L. Odom Williams

Hazel L. Odom Williams, age 87, of Paris, TN, died Saturday February 27, 2016 at the Henry County Healthcare Center. Born March 11, 1928 in St. Louis, MO, she was the daughter of the late Willard Lacky Odom and the late Rena Kay Hampton Odom.

She was a homemaker and had formerly attended the Church of God of Prophecy.

Ms. Williams is survived by her four children: Daughters: Gail Williams, Nancy Cargill & Linda Williams all of Paris; and son Michael Odom of Nashville, TN. In addition to her children, a brother, Joseph (Alice) Odom of Nevada, OH and her former husband Arlon Williams of Paris survive.

She leaves five grandchildren: Kimberly Williams, Todd Williams, Jasen Williams, Michael (Dr. Megan) Higgins and Josh Stanfill. Also surviving are 9 great grandchildren: Ava, Aiden & Ashton Higgins, Blaze & Starlee Williams, Marisa & Ryan Bernal and Storm & Colt Serrano.

Elfriede Marlow

Elfriede Marlow, age 83 of Paris, TN passed away Wednesday February 24, 2016 at her residence in Paris.

No service is scheduled at this time.

She was born June 19, 1932 in Frankfurt, Germany to the late Karl and Dora Becker Reith.  On February 26, 1958 she married Nyle Marlow, he survives, Paris, TN.

Survived by daughters: Gloria (Paul) Irla-Marlow, Clarkston, MI, Anne Meade, Belleville, MI, Peggy (Tom) Williams, Hazel Park, MI; grandchildren: Jason Irla, Marlo Ziegler, Becky Orow, Justin Meade, Kayley Meade, Jessica Sanchez, Sarah Williams and seven great-grandchildren.

Preceded by a son-in-law: Stan Meade, two sisters and three brothers.

Mrs. Marlow was a great quilt maker whose other love was reading.

Ruth Van Patten , age 90, of Paris, Tenn., died Monday, Feb. 22, 2016 at her residence.

Visitation will be Wednesday, Feb. 24, 4:00 until 8:00pm; and after 9:00am Thursday Feb. 25 until service time at 11:00am at McEvoy Funeral Home.

Burial will follow at Walker cemetery.

John E. Jack Neumann Jr.

John Edward “Jack” Neumann, age 60, of Paris, Tenn., died Sunday, February 21, 2016, at his residence in Paris, Tenn. 

He was a member of Member Holy Cross Catholic Church and had formerly worked at Emerson Electric.   He loved landscaping work in the yard at home.

He was born June 28, 1955 in Paris, TN to the late Dr. John Edward Neumann and the late Idabelle Marie Nischwitz Neumann.

He is survived by his Sister, Kathy (Don) Spinniken of Lake Leelanau, Mich,  Twin Sisters, Dr. Martha (Steve) Taylor and Dr. Mary (Mike) McDonald both of Cordova, Tenn;  Two Brothers, Dr. William T. (Debra) Neumann of Augusta, Ga. and Ted (Jan) Neumann of Milan, Tenn.  Jack is also survived by several nieces and nephews.     

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St., Paris, Tenn.  He is to be cremated. 

There will be a Graveside Memorial Service at Rose Lawn Mausoleum at 2:00 PM Saturday, February 27, 2016.

Sue Hubbard

Sue Dell Parker Hubbard, age 83 of Paris died Sunday February 21st at Jackson Madison County General Hospital. There will be no visitation and private family services will be held. Burial will be at Van Dyke Church of Christ Cemetary.

Virginia Davis

Betty Virginia Davis, age 88, of Buchanan, Tenn., died Sunday, February 21, 2016, at Paris Healthcare & Rehab Center in Paris, Tenn. 

She was Baptist in faith and formerly attended Temple Baptist Church and was a homemaker.

She was born November 17, 1927 in Big Sandy, TN to the late Alonzo Roney and the late Alma Doty  Roney.

Virginia was first married to Alexander "Chunk" Paschall who died Feb. 20, 1954.   She then married Joseph Elroy Davis April 1, 1964 and he died May 3, 2013.

She is survived by her one Daughter, Peggy (Raymond) Denton of Paris, Tenn;  three Sons,  Carl Paschall of Paris, Tenn,  Jackie Paschall of Murfreesboro, Tenn,  Danny Paschall of Portage, Ind;  one Sister, Annie Ruth Holland of Murfreesboro, Tenn;  two Brothers, Vernon (Jan) Roney of Tempe, Ariz, Marion "Shorty" Roney of Paris, Tenn;  Brother in law, Jesse Ray French of Paris, TN;  9 Grandchildren; and 12 Great Grandchildren.

Besides her Husbands and Parents, she was also preceded in death by a Daughter, Barbara Jean Hutson; Son, Jerry Lee Paschall; and several Sisters and Brothers.

Dee O'Neal

Aubrey “Dee” O'Neal, age 82, of Henry, Tenn., died Friday, February 19, 2016, at Alive Hospice in Nashville, Tenn. 

He was member of Bethlehem Baptist Church and was the Owner and Operator of O'Neal's Grocery in Henry for many years.

Dee was born March 4, 1933 in Paris, TN to the late Genie O'Neal and the late Cora Belle Holt Crenshaw.

He was first married to Joyce Ann O'Neal and she preceded in death.  He married on April 28, 1983 to Janice Ross O'Neal and she survives.  He is also survived by his Daughter,  Sandra Kay (Pat) Paschall of Puryear, Tenn;  two Step Daughters, Tina (Mark) Rawls of Paris, Tenn, and Penny (Jerry) Gallimore of Dresden, Tenn;  one Step Son, Jeff Baker of Henry, Tenn;  one Sister, Diane (Marvin) Elderbush of Metropolis, Ill;  Grandchildren,  Steven Snider, Brandon (Jennifer) Bell, Ben (Rachel) Paschall, Justin (Kelly) Rawls, Jarett Rawls, Whitney Rawls, John (Emily) Gallimore, and Jerry (Jesse) Gallimore;  Great Grandchildren, Joshua Byars, Bryant Joe Bell, Scarlett Meadows, Jase Gallimore, and Waylon Gallimore; and Several Nieces and Nephews.

Besides his Parents and First Wife, Dee was also preceded in death by a Daughter, Evelyn Sue O'Neal Britt; Sisters, Bertie Mae Walker, and Shirley O'Neal;  Brothers, Vodra Eugene O'Neal, Joe Thomas O'Neal, William Randolph O'Neal, James Robert O'Neal, and Euil B. O'Neal; and Grandson, Michael Shawn Wade.

Katie Fitzhugh

Katie Lee Fitzhugh, age 83, of Paris, Tenn., died Saturday, February 20, 2016, at Morningside in Paris, Tenn. 

 

She was a member of Springhill Baptist Church from 1974-2008 where she was active in the WMU.   She was presently a member of Henry Baptist Church.  Katie enjoyed quilting, canning, gardening, babysitting her grandchildren, and being a housewife.  She loved music and going to Gospel singings with her Husband.

 

Katie was born June 26, 1932 in Dover, TN to the late Clarence Shemwell and the late Virgie Smith Shemwell.

 

Katie was married on November 4, 1950 to Carl B. Fitzhugh and he preceded in death August 30, 2011.   She is survived by her one Daughter,  Kathleen (Eddie) Turner of Henry, Tenn;  one Son, Carlon Gene (Deborah) Fitzhugh of Harriman, Tenn;  two Sisters, Louise Suren of Hendersonville, Tenn, and Frances Sykes of Clarksville, Tenn;  Grandchildren, Travis (Alicia) Jones of Paris, TN, Casey (Marney) Jones of Henry, TN, Shelia (Steve) Staggs of Harriman, TN, Donnie (Diane) Fitzhugh of Harriman, TN; Great Grandchildren, Gunner Jones of Henry, TN, Mary Presley Jones of Henry, TN, Madelynn Jones of Henry, TN, Olivia Kate Jones of Paris, TN, Nicholas Staggs of Harriman, TN, Zachary Staggs of Harriman, TN, Cameron Fitzhugh of Harriman, TN;  Step Grandchildren, Shawn (Jamie) Turner of Henry, TN and Penny Turner of Henry, TN;  Step Great Grandchildren,  River Turner of Henry, TN and Pamela Hodge of Alabama.

Allene Clayton

Allene (Mary Elizabeth) Clayton, age 89 of Cordova, TN, formerly of Paris, TN died Thursday February 18, 2016 at Methodist Hospice Residence in Memphis, TN

 

Allene was born February 14, 1927 in Buchanan, TN to the late Willie Boyd and the late Etna Jones Boyd.

 

She was married March 17, 1945 to Robert Charlie Clayton. He preceded her in death on May 10, 1997.

 

Besides her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by her son, Randall “Randy” Clayton and sisters, Beatrice Cook and Myrtle Cannady; brothers, Leon Boyd and Gene Boyd.

 

She is survived by her son, Donnie (Ellen) Clayton of Oakland Township, MI; sisters,  Betty Carter of Paris, TN  and Eva Pierce of Ohio; brother,  Jimmy Boyd of Buchanan, TN;  grandchildren,  Ashley Clayton, Kelly (Chris) Kowske, Lisa (Mike) Mollan, and Jason (Sindy) Clayton;  great-grandchildren, Christina and Jacob Clayton, Alayna and Lukas Kowske, and Samantha and Tyler Mollan.

 

Allene worked at Ford Motor Co. in Detroit, MI as a seamstress for 27 years.

 

Visitation will be at Ridgeway Funeral Home Saturday February 20, 2016 from 9 – 11 am with the funeral service at 11 am at LeDon Chapel of Ridgeway Funeral Home with Bro. Jerry Lee officiating.   Pallbearers will be Grandchildren,  Ashley Clayton, Jason Clayton, Kelly Kowske, and Lisa Mollan, Brother, Jimmy Boyd, and Nephew, Chris Champion.

Shirley Bucy

Shirley T. Holland Bucy, age 81, of Madison Heights, Mich., died Monday, February 15, 2016, at St. John Macomb-Oakland Hospital in Madison Heights, Mich. 

She graduated from Puryear High School and was a very talented artist.   She worked over 30 years with Bell Telephone as an operator and lastly worked in the Benefits Dept and she  received several perfect attendance awards .   She was a born again Christian and member of Bethel Baptist Church in Sterling Heights, MI where she was very active.  She formerly taught Vacation Bible School, Sunday School, and painted a Mural in the Church.  She also worked with her husband on the Transition and building of a new Church Location.

Shirley was born September 23, 1934 in Paris, TN to the late Orion B. Holland and the late Celesta May Norton Holland.

Shirley married Billy Gerald Bucy August 15, 1954 and he survives.  She is also survived by her Daughter, Celesta Bucy Alford of Sterling Heights, Mich;  son,  Mark (Renee) Bucy of Clinton Township, Mich;  Sister-in-law,  Lorene Wells of Paris, TN;  two Brothers-In-Law,  Pete (Carolyn) Bucy of Paris, TN, and Chuck (Alice) Bucy of Paris, TN;  four Grandchildren,  Joel Bucy of Clinton Township, MI,  Joshua Bucy of Clinton Township, MI,  Ryan Champion of Madison Heights, MI, and Chris Champion of Warren, MI;  and a Great Grandchild,  Cami Champion.

Beside her parents, she was also preceded in death by Sisters,  Kathleen Caldwell, and Sharon Gail Hall; and Brother,  James L. Holland.

Virgie Hudgins

Virgie Mae Hudgins, age 79, of McKenzie, Tenn., died Wednesday, February 17, 2016, at her residence in McKenzie, Tenn. 

She formerly worked at Holley Carburetor Plant and was a quality control inspector at Plumley Rubber Co. She last worked as a CNA for a nursing home in Huntsville, AL and she enjoyed traveling.

She was born May 18, 1936 in Toney, AL to the late Willie Keel and the late Susie Sullivan Keel.

She is survived by her  one Daughter,  Delores (Wendell) Pedigo of Nashville, Tenn;  two Sons,  Billy (Ellen) Kirkendoll of McKenzie, Tenn, and B.J. (Jemme) Kirkendoll of Moore, Okla;  two Grandchildren, Christopher (Stephanie) Wynn of Nashville, TN, and Cynthia Wynn of Gallatin, TN;  and a Great Grandchild,  Henry Wynn of Gallatin, TN.

Besides her Parents, she was also preceded in death by a Son,  Jacob Kirkendoll.

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St., Paris, Tenn.  She is to be cremated, no services are planned.

Winnie Dunlap

Winnie Sue Dunlap, age 83, of Paris, Tenn., died Tuesday, February 16, 2016, at Paris Healthcare & Rehab Center in Paris, Tenn.

 

She was a member of Bethesda United Methodist Church and the Martha Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star.   Her first job was an AT&T switchboard operator and she formerly worked at Holley Carburetor Plant, Hal-dex, and the Clippard Plant.

 

She was born April 30, 1932 in Paris, TN to the late Hallie Flanagan and the late Prudie Jane Oliver Flanagan.

 

Winnie was married June 30, 1951 to James Audrey Dunlap he preceded in death June 28, 2005.

 

She is survived by her  one Daughter,  Brenda Jane Dunlap Jones of Ashville, N.C.;  one Son,  James Michael "Mike" (Barbara) Dunlap of Paris, Tenn;  two Brothers,  Windell (Dianne) Flanagan of Paris, Tenn,  Terry (Pam) Flanagan of Paris, Tenn;  three Grandchildren, Shane Dunlap, Katie Jones (Brent) Chermside, and Jonahs Jones.

 

Besides her Husband and Parents, she was also preceded in death by Sisters, Mary Katherine Calloway, Frances Wilson, and Hallie Mae Nichols; and a Grandchild, Ethan Aaron Dunlap.          

 

She is to be cremated and a private family Graveside Memorial Service will be held.
