Gene Abernathy Richardson

Gene Abernathy Richardson, age 85 of Paris, TN passed away Thursday December 29, 2016 at Alive Hospice in Nashville, TN.

Funeral service 2:00PM Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at the First Presbyterian Church, 105 South Market Street, Paris, TN with Author Lodge officiating, burial will follow at Memorial Cemetery.

Visitation 4:00 - 7:00PM Tuesday, January 3rd at McEvoy Funeral Home.
Visitation after 12:00Noon until service time Wednesday, January 4th at the First Presbyterian Church.

Her family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Mrs. Richardson was born February 23, 1931 in Paris, TN to the late Andrew "Buck"  and Sue Fryer Abernathy.  On August 9, 1957 she married Jerry Spencer Richardson, he preceded September 18, 1991.

Survived by daughters: Nancy Spencer Richardson, Paris, TN, Anne Lovell (Charles) Batt, Franklin, TN; sister: Suzannah Herron, Paris, TN; brothers: Eugene Bailey (Betty) Abernathy, Biloxi, MS, Andrew (Sherry) Abernathy, Palmyra, TN; grandchild: Sydney Elizabeth Roof, Franklin, TN.

Gene was the longest standing member of First Presbyterian Church in Paris. She taught piano lessons for over 60 years and also taught swimming lessons for many years. She had an interest in ballroom dancing and kept up with family genealogy.

Marcia Robinson

Marcia Ann Robinson, age 60 of Hazel, KY, died Saturday December 24, 2016 at Henry County Healthcare Center.

She was a member of Hazel Baptist Church and she loved reading.  She was a retired x-ray technician from St. Joseph Hospital in Joliet, IL. 

Marcia was born June 7, 1956 in Cleveland, OH to Theodore “Ted” Ally of Louisville, KY and the late Nancy King Ally.

Besides her father, Marcia is also survived by two daughters, Amanda (Harold) Martin of Puryear, TN and Andrea (Glen) Parker of Terre Haute, IN;  three sons, Joseph Robinson of Tokyo, Japan, James Robinson of Gardner, IL, and Kristopher Robinson of Puryear, TN; one sister, Patti Ally of East Peoria, IL; two brothers, Gary Ally of Joliet, IL, and Brian (Tina) Ally of Austin, TX;  four grandchildren, Alyssa Parker, Elijah Parker, Caitlin Parker, and Ariana Parker all of Terre Haute, IN. 

Besides her mother, Marcia was also preceded in death by a brother, Michael Ally.

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St, Paris, TN.  She is to be cremated with a Memorial Service to be held at a later date in Plainfield, IL.  Then the remains will be inurned at Sunset Memorial Park in North Olmsted, OH.

Don Guess

Mr. Donald "Don" Guess, age 68 of Paris passed away Sunday, December 25, 2016 ay Henry County Medical Center. His funeral service will be 1:00 PM Friday, December 30, 2016 at McEvoy Funeral Home with Bro. Corey Cain of Maplewood Baptist Church officiating. Visitation will be after 10:00 AM Friday until service time.

Donald D. Guess was born September 1, 1948 in Marion, Kentucky to the late Raymond and Louise Conger Guess. On January 17, 1969 he married Phyllis Beam Guess who survives in Paris, Tennessee. He is also survived by two sons, Donald (Rebecca) Guess, Jr. of Louisville, KY and Jon (April) Guess of Paris, TN; one brother, Ron (Diane) Guess of Marion, KY; two grandchildren, Ethan and Miley Guess; and one nephew, Zack (Cass) Guess.

Mr. Guess worked and retired as a Baptist minister across the United States.

Barbara McDavid

Barbara L. Winters McDavid, age 80, entered eternal life on Wednesday, December 21, 2016.

Barbara is survived by her loving children, Valerie (J.P. Munson) McDavid, Lori (Tom) Tezak, Dana (Michelle) McDavid, Dianna (James) Martin; grandchildren, Mackenze and Zoe Tezak, Christopher Gerulis, Megan (Wes) Zufelt, Laura (Paul) Graham and Tyler, Andrew and Rachel Martin and Justin Brubaker; great-grandchildren, Damien McDavid and Emma Zufelt, Nadia and Jameson Graham; sister, Brenda (the late Fred) Richard; numerous nieces and nephews; and best friend, Mary Fran (Len) Overcash.

Preceded in death by her husband, Vernie E. McDavid Jr. (1990); parents, Harvey and Velma Pierce Winters; siblings, Byron (Polly) Winters and Betty (Fred) Barrells.

Barbara was born in Big Sandy, TN and married the love of her life, Vernie at the age of 13. After moving to Chicago, Barbara was employed by R.R. Donnelley and then moved to Lockport, IL where she and her husband built their first house. She then was employed by Electromotive in LaGrange, IL. In 1976 she and Mack proudly built their second house in Channahon.

Barbara was a dedicated wife, supporting her husband’s groups, The Flying Bunch and the River Rats, his love of the river and much time spent at the beloved Valhalla. Barbara ministered to her community and friends through groups such as, the Red Hat Club and numerous book clubs and was very active in her church, Grace Bible. Her favorite place to minister was at the dining room table, eating her delicious food. After her husband’s death in 1990 she went back to college at Moody Bible Institute to pursue her ministry and spent 2 years in Russia, 1 year in China and also traveled to Guatemala, Uganda and various other destinations. Following her mission work she came home to dedicate the rest of her time to becoming the best Grandma Butterfly anyone could ask for. Barbara instilled the love of travel into all of her children by taking them on various trips all over the country. She was an amazing, caring and loving mom, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend who will be truly missed.

In Illinois, visitation will be on Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Road, Joliet, IL from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.with a celebration of Barbara’s life on Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at 11 am with a visitation from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service with Pastor Larry Jacobsgaard officiating.

In Tennessee, the funeral service will be Friday December 30, 2016 at 2:00 pm at McDavid Grove Baptist Church.  Burial will follow in Craig Farmer Cemetery in Springville, TN (formerly called McDavid Grove Cemetery) where Barbara will be laid to rest with her husband.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Barbara’s name may be made to: Moody Bible Institute, 820 N LaSalle St, Chicago, IL 60610 and would be appreciated.

Martha Nichols Hopkins

Mrs. Martha Nichols Hopkins, age 97 of Paris, passed away Monday, December 26, 2016 at her residence. Her graveside services will be at 10:00AM Saturday, December 31, 2016 at Poplar Grove Cemetery with Bro. Gary Collier officiating. Burial will follow and no visitation is scheduled.

Martha Nichols Hopkins was born June 19, 1919 in Henry County, Tennessee to the late Jerry Lander Nichols and the late Pearline Ann Throgmorton Nichols. On October 16, 1937 she married Jeremiah "Jerry" Franklin Hopkins who preceded her in death on May 31, 1996. She was also preceded in death by a son, Richard G. Hopkins; a sister, Novella Moore; and two brothers, Vernal Nichols and John Nelson Nichols.

Mrs. Hopkins is survived by a daughter, Jeanne Jenson of Tucson, Arizona; a son David F. Hopkins of Arnold, Maryland; six grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.

Mrs. Hopkins was a member of Antioch United Methodist Church and she was a homemaker.

Vernon Melton

Vernon Clyde Melton, age 80 of Henry, TN, died Monday December 26, 2016 at Henry County Medical Center in Paris, TN.

Vernon was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon for several years.  He retired from Haldex where he had worked for 40 years.  Vernon was a member of Woodmen of the World and he loved yard sales, auctions, antiques, and especially his antique truck.

Vernon was born August 3, 1936 in Paris, TN to the late Clyde Melton and the late Bertha Campbell Melton.

He was married on May 19, 1962 to Mary Ann Allen Melton who survives of Henry, TN.  He is also survived by one son, Vernon Lynn (Angela) Melton of Dresden, TN; one sister, Imogene (Howard) Welch of Knoxville, TN;  two grandchildren, Matthew Allen Breaux and Jessica Nicole Breaux; and two great grandchildren, Bralynn Breaux and Aspen Breaux.

Besides his parents, Vernon was also preceded in death by two sisters, Pauline Elkins and Mozelle Gunter.

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St, Paris, TN where visitation will be Wednesday December 28, 2016 from 4 – 8 pm and Thursday December 29, 2016 from 10 am – 1 pm.  The funeral service will be Thursday December 29, 2016 at 1:00 pm at LeDon Chapel of Ridgeway Funeral Home with Bro. Kevin Gallimore officiating. 

Pallbearers will be Earl Williams, Mike Hall, Lonnie Allen, Mack Allen, Eddie Allen, and Gary Allen.   Deacons of Bethlehem Baptist Church and Claude Teague are named as Honorary Pallbearers.

Burial will follow in Bevil Cemetery.

James Morris

James Keil Morris, age 81, of Paris, TN, died Monday December 26, 2016, at the Henry County Medical Center.

Born in Medina, TN, February 22, 1935, he was the son of the Late Marcus Friend of Liberty Morris and the late Medie Caldona Sanford Morris. He was a member of the Church of Christ and a retired Salesman. James was a United States Army Veteran who enjoyed spending time with all animals and children.

Survivors include four children: Jennifer (Michael Sr.) Moore of Cottontown, TN, Jan (Randy) Stricklin of Stone Mountain, GA, Marcus Morris of Jackson, TN and Bryan (Carla) Morris of Arlington, TN. Additionally he leaves 9 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and his former wife: Glenda Dedmon Curtis of Jackson, TN.

Besides his parents, James was preceded in death by 4 sisters: Dona Fincher, Earline Ward, Frances Dyer and Jewell Epperson; along with 6 brothers: Clarence Morris, Marvin Morris, Samford Morris, Cleveland Morris, Charles Morris and Isaiah Morris.

Ridgeway Funeral Home is handling  the funeral arrangements. Visitation will be Thursday, December 29 from 4-7 pm and continue on Friday December 30 after 9 am until the funeral service. His funeral service will be held Friday, December 30, at 11 am in LeDon Chapel of Ridgeway Funeral Home with Michael Moore, Sr., Stan Penny and Mike Evans officiating.

Cremation will follow the service with burial of ashes in the Lebanon Methodist Church Cemetery in Madison County, TN

Margaret Murray

Mrs. Margaret Bernice Murray, age 95, of Paris, TN and formerly Fulton,KY died Thursday, December 15, 2016 at the Paris Health Care in Paris, TN.

Mrs. Murray is survived by a daughter, Shelby ( Bob, Sr) Freeman of Paris, TN, four grandchildren; Pam Rockwell of Paris, TN, Jaye Murray of South Fulton, TN, Rob Freeman of Paris, TN, Mandy Murray of Franklin, TN, seven great grandchildren and one great great grandchild and a sister Nell Hemphill of Fulton, KY.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Frazier Thomas Murray, her parents Crid and Opal Lee Cravens Long, a son Jerry E. Murray, Sr.

Graveside services will be held at 11AM Monday in the Pleasant View Memorial Gardens. There will be no visitation held and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery at the hour of service.

Patrick E. Ryan

Mr. Patrick E. Ryan, age 75 of Buchanan passed away Saturday, December 17, 2016 at the Henry County Medical Center Emergency Room. His body is to be cremated and no services are scheduled.

Patrick E. Ryan was born June 24, 1941 in St. Louis, MO to the late Earl Eugene Ryan and the late Mabel Caroline Neigenfind Ryan. on September 1, 1962 he married Margaret Dobson Ryan who survives in Buchanan, Tennessee. Besides his parents, he was also preceded by a brother, Thomas Ryan.

Mr. Ryan is also survived by two daughters, Saudra (Mike) Saileau of St. Louis, MO and Carol (Thomas) Spenader of Riverview, FL; one son, Kevin Patrick Ryan of Millstadt, IL; ten grandchildren; and twelve great grandchildren.

Mr. Ryan loved to fish and read and was an avid golfer.

Geneva McGehee

Mrs. Geneva McGehee, 91 of Paris died Saturday, December 10, 2016, at Henry County Medical Center.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, December 19, 2016, at Rawls Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. M.A. Richardson officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.

Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. until time of service on Monday.

Douglas Nash

Mr. Douglas Nash age 88 of Paris, Tennessee passed away December 14, 2016 at his residence. His funeral service will be held 2:00 P.M. Sunday, December 18, 2016 at McEvoy Funeral Home with Jerry Nash and Bro. Thomas Winchester officiating, with burial to follow at Olive Branch Cemetery in Cottage Grove.

Named as pallbearers are Jeremy Powers, Troy Rutland, Donald Bennett, Ricky Nash, Joe Pat Moody and Ali Alhashimi.

Visitation 11:00AM until service time at 2:00PM.

Mr. Nash was born July 19, 1928 in Henry, Tennessee to the late Lawson Leroy “Lawsie” Nash and Mylinda Jane “Lindie” Douglas Nash. On January 18, 1947 he married Dorothy Mae Ivie Nash, she preceded May 21, 2013.

Survived by daughters Sylvia Anne Nash, Paris, TN, Carol (Junior) Powers of Paris, TN; son: Jerry Douglas (Ruth) Nash, Cookeville, TN; grandchildren: Tammy (Troy) Powers-Rutland, Alabama, Jeremy (Jill) Powers, Paris, TN, Sarah (Cody) Nash Stewart, Qatar, Rebekah Nash, Carbondale, IL; brother: Darris (Annette) Nash, McKenzie, TN; sister-in-law: Doris Smith, McKenzie, TN, numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members.

Preceded by sister: Alene Nash and brother: Joseph Smith. 

Mr. Nash was a bi-vocational Baptist minister who pastored churches in Henry, Carroll, and Weakley counties for over fifty years. He retired from Midland Brake (Haldex) where he worked as a machine shop operator. He served in the U.S. 8th Army Medics, Occupational Forces in Yokohama, Japan and other places after WWII.

Member of Union Friendship Baptist Church. Loved the Lord and his family. He also loved people and he dedicated his life to sharing the gospel with them.

Robert Bratton

Robert W. Bratton, age 64 of Puryear, TN, passed away Wednesday December 14, 2016 at his residence.

Memorial visitation 2:00 - 4:00PM Friday December 16, 2016 at McEvoy Funeral Home.

He was born February 14, 1952 in Paris, TN to the late Aaron Wesley and Mary Armilda Salmon Bratton.  On July 15, 1979 he married Janice Kay Cook Bratton, she preceded June 4, 2015.

Survived by daughters: Christie Connell, Puryear, TN, Alisa (James) Causey, Paris, TN; son: Robert Aaron (Kelli) Bratton, Grandbay, AL; sister: Mary (Johnny) Green, Buchanan, TN; grandchildren: Brady Bratton, Hannah Canady, Hailey Bratton, Erin Bratton, Myles Bratton, Killian Bratton, TW Todd, Lucas Connell, James Causey, Emily Causey; brother-in-law: Joseph Cook, IV and several nieces and nephews.

Preceded by a sister: Glenda Carolyn Bratton and a brother: Randall Bratton.

Mr. Bratton passed away at his home after a long battle with cancer. He was employed by Plumley Rubber Co. & Dana Corp. for 32 years in the maintenance department. He loved his family, raising his chickens, and gardening.

Everett L. Hook

Everett L. Hook, age 88 of Buchanan, TN passed away Monday December 12, 2016 at Henry County Medical Center, Paris, TN.

Funeral service 2:30PM, Saturday, December 17, 2016 at McEvoy Funeral Home with Bro. Paul Veazey officiating, burial will follow at Maplewood Cemetery.

His family will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation 12:30PM Saturday December 17th until service time at 2:30PM.

He was born May 13, 1928 in Hamilton County, IL to the late Alfred L. and Alta Emerson Hook.  On July 27, 1951 he married Eileen Plopper Hook, she survives, Buchanan, TN.

Survived by daughters: Monica (Mike) Taylor, Ozark, MO, Lisa Hook, Buchanan, TN, Gaile Berrier, Buchanan, TN; sons: Randall (Gayle) Hook, Brunswick, TN, Michael (Kaye) Hook, Olive Branch, MS; brothers: Virgil (Margie) Hook, Godfrey, IL, Bud (Carmen) Hook, Alton, IL; grandchildren: Jason (Megan) Tayalor, Jeanine Taylor, Bret (Beth) Taylor, Angie (Chris) Dalhoff, Sarah (John) Hill, Katy Hook; great-grandchildren: Ashley Taylor, Ryan Taylor, Jade Taylor, Kaiden Taylor, Hunter Taylor, Alex Dalhoff.

Preceded by a brother: Eugene Hook.

Mr. Hook was a 1946 Graduate from Alton High School in Alton, Illinois; U.S. Army Veteran from 1946 to 1948; graduated from the University of Illinois with B.S. in Electrical Engineering and from Washington University in St. Louis with a Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering and a Minor in Business Administration. Mr. Hook was a Baptist by faith. He was a member of IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineering). He started his career with Wagner Electric in St. Louis for 22 years and retired with Siemens in Little Rock. Memorials may be made to the National Parkinson Foundation or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Martha "Marty" Kilgore

Martha "Marty" Smith  Kilgore, age 70 of Buchanan, TN, passed away Monday, December 12, 2016 at her residence in Buchanan.

A family "Celebration of Life/Marty Party" and luncheon will be held from 12:00 until 2:00PM Saturday, December 17, 2016 at Bethany Missionary Baptist Church, 225 Van Dyke Grove Road, Paris, TN.  All family and friends are invited.

She was born April 15, 1946 in Henry County, TN to the late Carmen and Ivaleen Sanders Smith.  On January 22, 1994 she married Duane Kilgore, he survives Buchanan, TN.

Survived by daughters: Mandy (Scott) McDevitt, Paris, TN, Toni (Charles "Chick" Leiby) Flowers, Brigantine, NJ; sisters: Sandy (Gary) Hastings, Mansfield, TN, Betty Atchison, Paris, TN, Wanda Small, Paris, TN, Theresa Willoughby, Buchanan, TN; brother: Tony (Penny) Smith, Paris, TN; grandchildren: Delia McDevitt, Liam McDevitt, Riley McDevitt; many nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends.

Charles Thill

Charles David Thill, age 86, of Puryear, TN, died peacefully with visiting family members on Wednesday, December 7, 2016, at Henry County Healthcare Center in Paris, TN.

Charles was born August 19, 1930, in Dayton, OH, the fourth of eight children born to Paul and Dorotha (Gadd) Thill.  Charles graduated from Chaminade High School in Dayton, OH, enlisted in the US Navy in 1949 (discharged 1951), and married Velma Ruth Sikora on September 27, 1952.  During their 56 years of marriage, Charles and Ruth raised three daughters and a son and built two homes:  the family home in Waynesville, OH and another in Puryear, TN, where Charles and Ruth spent their retirement years.  

Charles was an entrepreneur who owned and operated, along with wife Ruth, a number of businesses over the years:  The Valley Shopper, a Warren County, OH publication; Suburban Sanitary Service (SSS) in south-central OH; Crispy Crown Corporation, a TV repair service, and a pay fishing lake in Germantown, OH.  His last business venture, a hog breeding operation, was begun in the 1980’s in Puryear, TN and shared with son Frank Thill as partner until his eventual retirement in 1998.   

Charles enjoyed pursuing various interests such as camping and fishing with the family, ham radios, reading, and keeping up on current events.  He especially enjoyed discussing politics and following many favorite sports teams, from basketball and baseball to football and boxing.  Charles was passionate about airplanes and became an FAA Certified Pilot of small aircraft in the 1970’s.  Later in life he was a Civil Air Patrol instructor at the Henry County Airport in Paris, TN.  Charles also took up archery and building model airplanes which he flew with son Frank Thill.

Charles is survived by daughters Nancy Thill of Salt Lake City, UT, and her children Michael and Tanya; Susan (Jerry) Daggett of Seattle, WA, and their children Marisa, Rosalie, Natalie, and Madeline; Joan Janes of Puryear, TN; and son Frank (Jodie) Thill of Puryear, TN, and their children Daniel, Jennifer, and Kelly; and eight great-grandchildren.  Charles is survived by sisters Mary (Byron) Cates of Puryear, TN; Patricia (Dale-dec’d) Malloy of Dayton, OH; and Roberta (Gordon-dec’d) Meyer of Shalimar, FL; and brother Michael (Carol) Thill of Dayton, OH.   Charles was preceded in death by his wife Velma Ruth Thill in 2008, and by brothers Bernard (Dee-living) Thill, James (Marilyn) Thill, and Donald (Donna-living) Thill, all of Dayton, OH.

The visitation for Charles Thill will be held from 10:00-12:00 noon on Saturday, Dec. 17, 2016 at McEvoy Funeral Home, 507 W. Washington St., Paris, TN  38242.  The funeral service will follow at noon, also at McEvoy Funeral Home, followed by a graveside burial at the Puryear City Cemetery, HWY 140, Puryear, TN.  A post-funeral reception to celebrate Charles’ life will be held at the home of Frank and Jodie Thill.  Memorial donations may be made to the National Parkinson Foundation, 200 SE 1st St., Suite 800, Miami, FL  33131.

Warren H. Lamb

Warren H. Lamb, age 81, of Paris, TN, died Sunday, December 11, 2016, at his residence in Paris, TN.

He was a retired sprayer at Mar-Kel Lighting.  He was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church, and loved to hunt and fish.

Warren was born on October 19, 1935, in New Concord, KY, to the late Charlie Lamb and the late Manerva Bailey Lamb.

Warren was married on February 10, 1959, to Rita Collins Lamb, who survives. 

Along with his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Jean Painter of Paris, TN; one sister, Marie Ellison of Paris, TN; one brother-in-law, William Collins of Puryear, TN; one sister-in-law, Judy Collins of Paris, TN; four grandchildren, Sasha (Jay) Wallace of Paris, TN; Hope Andrews of Nashville, TN; Justin (Nicki) Lamb of Pennsylvania; and Jason (Kat) Lamb of Paris, TN; and 19 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a son, Jerry Warren Lamb; a son-in-law, Tim Painter; sisters, Faye Puster, Lucille Horita, Edith Norton, Juanita Smith, and Maxine Lamb; brothers, Norman Lamb, James Lamb and Charles Lamb.

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St, Paris, TN where the visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 pm Tuesday, December 13, 2016 and from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 pm Wednesday, December 14, 2016.   The funeral service will be at LeDon Chapel of Ridgeway Funeral Home at 1:00 pm Wednesday, December 14, 2016, with Michael Barnhart officiating.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.

Named as honorary pallbearers are the men of New Bethel Baptist Church.

Bobby Joe France

Bobby Joe France, age 63 of Paris, TN, died Sunday December 11, 2016 at Western Baptist Hospital in Paducah, KY.

Bobby was a member of the Paris Moose Lodge and the VFW.   He worked at Tank Lining in Paris for many years as a Foreman and then as Plant Manager.   He enjoyed cooking for bar-b-que cook-offs and loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Bobby was born February 5, 1953 in Paris, TN to the late Billy Franklin France and the late Ann Paschall France Scott.

He married June 7, 1974 to Patricia Owen France, who survives.  Along with his wife, Bobby is survived by three sons, Jason (Page) France of Paris, TN,  Justin (Heather) France of Buchanan, TN, and Todd (Katie) France of Henryville, IN; one brother, Franky France of Dickson, TN; eight grandchildren, Bailey France, Bella France, Brenna France, Brystol France, Owen France, Chase (Hailey) McKinney, Caitlin McKinney, and Carlee McKinney; and two great-grandchildren,  Kenzington and Addilynn McKinney.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Pat Gallimore.

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St. Paris, TN where visitation will be from 4 – 7 pm Tuesday December 13, 2016 and from 1 – 3 pm Wednesday December 14, 2016.   The funeral service will be at LeDon Chapel of Ridgeway Funeral Home at 3:00 pm Wednesday December 14, 2016 with Bro. Lynn King officiating.

Pallbearers will be Ron Lowe, Mike Hunter, Jeff McFarland, Clint McFarland, Erick Sanders, and Kevin Hamlin.

Interment will follow in Memorial Cemetery.

Kathy Chapman Mitchell

Kathy Chapman Mitchell, age 45, of Paris, TN, died Thursday, December 8, 2016, at St. Thomas West Hospital in Nashville, TN.

She was formerly employed at Henry County High School in the Cafeteria.  She enjoyed cooking, arts & crafts, and she loved helping people.

Kathy was born January 1, 1971 in Paris, TN to her father, the late Ross Chapman and her mother, Priscilla Robbins Chapman of Paris, TN.

She was married July 7, 1993 to Ronald "Bo" Mitchell, and he survives.  Besides her husband and mother, she is also survived by one daughter, Brett Mitchell of Paris, TN;  three sons, Codey Mitchell of Mangilao, Guam, Jordan Mitchell of Paris, TN, and Justin Mitchell of Paris, TN; two sisters,  Kim (Rick) Hollingsworth of Paris, TN, and Kenitha Desaulnier of Paris, TN;  one brother, Keith Chapman of Paris, TN;  one Niece, Ashley Hollingsworth of Paris, TN; and one nephew, Ryan Hollingsworth of Paris, TN.

Besides her father, she is also preceded in death by a sister, Kris Baker; and one brother, Kelly Chapman.

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St, Paris, TN where the visitation will be from 3 – 7 pm Sunday, December 11, 2016 and from 12 – 2 pm Monday, December 12, 2016.   The funeral service will be at LeDon Chapel of Ridgeway Funeral Home at 2:00 pm Monday, December 12, 2016 with Erie Kelleher officiating. Pallbearers will be family and friends.

Interment will follow in Poplar Grove Cemetery in Springville, Tenn.

Kent Gamlin

Mr. Kent McSwain Gamlin age 79, of Paris, TN passed away December 9, 2016. His funeral service will be 1:00 P.M., Monday, December 12, 2016 at McEvoy Funeral Home with Gary Collier officiating; burial will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. Sunday at McEvoy Funeral Home and after 11:00 A.M. on Monday. Pallbearers are named as Shannon, Brandon, and Hunter Bethune, Chuck Wade, Jordan Beddies, Mike Pettie; Honorary: Jimmy Sellers and Roy “Buggs” Pierpoint.

Born August 12, 1937 in Henry County, Tennessee to the late John “Dorris” Gamlin and Mary “Eva” McSwain Gamlin.

Mr. Kent is survived by daughter; Lisa Gamlin (Mike) Beddies, Paris, Tennessee; sons; Lane Gamlin, Paris, Tennessee; Lance Gamlin, Nashville, Tennessee; grandchildren; Ben Perry, Arianna Gamlin, Reese Gamlin and Rhett Gamlin; great-grandchildren; Isabella and Eva Perry; brother; Gary (Jackie) Gamlin, Puryear, Tennessee; niece; Amy Evans.

Mr. Gamlin worked and retired from CSX Railroad as a Conductor. He was a member of the Moose and Elks Lodges of Paris and was a lifelong St. Louis Cardinals Fan.

Charles D. Thill

Mr. Charles D. Thill, age 86 of Puryear passed away Wednesday, December 7, 2016 at Henry County Healthcare Center. His funeral service will be at 12:00PM December 17, 2016 at McEvoy Funeral Home with Bro. Randy Stephens of Sulpur Well Church of Christ officiating. Burial will follow at Puryear City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00AM-12:00PM prior to the service December 17, 2016.

Douglas Wayne Medlock

Douglas Wayne Medlock, 78, of Paris, died on Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2016, at Morningside of Paris.

As per his request, no funeral services are planned. A private family celebration of life will be held at a later date. He is to be cremated, and his arrangments are being handled by McEvoy Funeral Home.

He was born on March 21, 1938, in St. Louis, to the late Barne Velt and Ruth DeVoe Medlock.

He was married on March 25, 1996, to Patsy Gail Medlock of Paris, who survives him.

Medlock worked for, and then was a supervisor at Bellsouth Telephone Company until his retirement after 40 years of service.
He also formerly owned his own plumbing, electrical and HVAC business. He was a Christian in faith and was formerly a member and youth leader at Jones Chapel Baptist Church. A family member said that he was a loving husband and father, who was a hard worker his whole life.

He is also survived by two daughters: Ashley Rachelle and Hannah Rae Medlock, both of Paris; two sons: Jeffrey Wayne (Brenda) Medlock of Winchester and Douglas Ray Medlock of Bowling Green, Ky.; a stepson: Phillip Larkin (Dedra) Hagler of Kingston Springs; a stepdaughter: Melissa Ann Boudreau of Clarksville; four grandchildren: Riley, Carly and Jaisen Medlock and Jaxon Boudreau; a brother: Richard (Linda) Medlock of Cheyenne, Wy.; a sister: Linda (Jim) Lee of Paris; along with many close cousins, aunts, uncles and friends.

He is also preceded in death by a sister: Katherine Davis; and a brother: Allen Medlock.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or to the Homeschool Legal Defense Action (HSLDA).

William Simmons

William Brooks Simmons, age 78, of Buchanan, TN, died Wednesday December 7, 2016, at Baptist Memorial Hospital, in Memphis, TN.

 

Brooks was a lifelong servant, member, and deacon at Buchanan Baptist Church.  He worked at Tappan in Murray, KY, farmed, and owned and operated Buchanan Woodyard for many years.  He belonged to the Buchanan Masonic Lodge, and enjoyed trap shooting and riding horses.  He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and he loved his dog, King.

 

He was born April 29, 1938, in Murray, KY, to the late William “Bill” Charles Simmons and Madie Alice Vaughn Simmons.

 

He was married on May 17, 1958, to Sarah Ferguson Simmons, who survives. 

 

Along with his wife, he is also survived by three daughters, Kathy (Jackie) Heath of Buchanan, TN; Beverly (David) Wallace of Buchanan, TN; and Deborah (Gary) Green of Terrell, TX; six grandchildren, Andy (Tammy) Clayton, Dustin (Jacklyn) Clayton, David (Candi) Wallace III, Kyle (Tiffany) Wallace, Brad (Janie Ruth) Green, and Wesley (Amber) Green; and thirteen great-grandchildren.

 

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister and one brother, both in infancy.

 

Visitation will be held Friday, December 9, 2016, from 4-7 p.m. at Ridgeway Funeral Home, and Saturday, December 10, 2016 after 11 a.m. at Buchanan Baptist Church in Buchanan, TN. His funeral service will be held Saturday, December 10, 2016 at 1 PM at Buchanan Baptist Church, with Tony Chester and Joe Ed Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Buchanan Baptist Cemetery.

 

Pallbearers for the service will be Andy Clayton, Joe Clayton, Dustin Clayton, David Wallace, Kyle Wallace, Wesley Green, and George Lowe.

 

Named as honorary pallbearers are Alex Wallace, Shane Wallace, and Joe Wallace.

Lee Kennon

Lee Kennon, age 81 of Paris passed away Saturday, December 3, 2016 at St. Thomas West Hospital in Nashville. His body is to be cremated and no services are scheduled at this time.

Lee "L.H." Kennon was born August 6, 1935 in Paris, Tennessee to the late Allen Miller Kennon and the late Sarah Frances Eunice Hall Kennon. On May 15, 2009 he married Donna Powell Kennon who survives in Paris, TN.

Mr. Kennon is survived by five daughters, Debra Higginbotham, Janice Depew, Wonell Hubbard, Sarah Kennon, and April Elkins; two sons, Kelly Kennon and Clifton Bice; two sisters, Martha Alvarez of Paris, TN and Judy Ragsdale of McMinnvile, TN; one brother, Noel Kennon of Paris, TN and numerous grandchildren. Besides his parents, he was also preceded in death by one daughter, Evonne Kennon; one son, Allen Lee Kennon; and one brother Miller Kennon.

Rachel Bowden

Rachel Bowden, age 93 of Paris, TN, died Monday December 5, 2016 at Morningside of Paris.

Born July 29, 1923, in Christmasville, TN, she was the daughter of the late Fred Prince and Mary Lindell Wilson Prince.

She married Robert "Tip" Bowden May 10, 1941 and he preceded her in death October 11, 2000. She was a retired LPN from the Henry County Medical Center and was a member of the New Bethel Baptist Church in Henry,TN.

She is survived by a daughter: Patty Powley of Paris; two sons: Jerry Bowden of Henry and Donald Bowden of Paris. Additional survivors include 9 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, David Bowden, a brother, four sisters and a great grandson, Mac Bowden.

Pallbearers for the service will be Bobby Bowden, Steve Bowden, Damon Nash, Crispin Powley, Billy Bowden and Bobby Flowers.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, December 7, 2016, from 4-7 p.m. and Thursday, December 8, 2016 after 12 p.m. Her funeral service will be held Thursday, December 8, 2016 at 1 PM in the LeDon Chapel of Ridgeway Funeral Home, with Gary Collier officiating. Burial will follow in Caledonia Cemetery.

Mary Jo Lavender

Mary Jo Lavender, age 71 of Paris, TN, died Monday December 5, 2016 at her residence in Paris, TN.

Mary Jo was a member of Puryear Baptist Church where she enjoyed Sunday School and working in the Awana program. She retired from Maytag in Galesburg, IL.

She was born May 23, 1945 in Galesburg, IL to the late Harold Leroy “Pete” Allen and the late Georgie Foreman Allen.

Mary Jo is survived by two daughters, Dawn (David) Ruggles of Puryear, TN,  and Diane (George) Fitchpatrick of Galesburg, IL; four grandchildren, Courtney Ruggles, Erin Ruggles, Danielle Fitchpatrick, and Allison Fitchpatrick.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, James Lavender and a sister, Bonnie Jean Allen.

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St, Paris, TN.  There will be no visitation.  A graveside service will be held Wednesday, December 7, 2016 at 2:00 pm at Memorial Cemetery in Paris, TN, with Bro. Mike Rhodes of Puryear Baptist officiating.  Family and Friends will serve as pallbearers.

James Cleary

Mr. James F. Cleary, age 85 of Springville passed away Friday, December 2, 2016 at Henry County Healthcare. His funeral service will be 2:00PM Sunday at McEvoy Funeral Home with Gary Collier officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 12:00-2:00PM Sunday prior to the service.

James F. Cleary was born on October 4, 1931 in McNairy County, Tennessee to the late Odell Cleary and the late Lena Wardlow Cleary. On June 11, 1950 he married Virginia Hughes Cleary and she preceded him in death on March 11, 2016.  He was also preceded in death by two sons, James "Jim" Cleary in 2001 and Terry Lynn Cleary in 2007; and one brother, Haskell Eugene Cleary.

Mr. Cleary is survived by two grandchildren, James Gene Cleary of Crest Hill, IL and Kelly Lynn Cleary of Villa Park, IL; and three great grandchildren, Amanda, James, and Jcee Cleary.

Woody Robertson

Clarence “Woody” Robertson, age 65 of Paris, TN died Thursday December 1, 2016 at Henry County Healthcare Center.

 

Woody was a Truck Driver for many years.  He enjoyed football, nascar racing, and spending time with his family.  He was well-known as a football and baseball coach in youth sports in Henry County for several years.

 

Woody was born November 8, 1951 in Paris, TN to the late Harley Robertson and the late Marcella Chaffin.

 

He was married on August 1, 1996 to Debora Hubbs Robertson who survives of Paris, TN.  He is also survived by two sons, Chris (Angela) Robertson of Paris, TN, and Dino Robertson of Paris, TN; two daughters, Heather (Nick) Gaines of Pasadena , MD, and Shannon Johnson of Austin, TX; three sisters, Sonna Brockett of Ypsilanti, MI, Marie Hood of Paris, TN, and Bonnie Turner of Colorado; two brothers, Cecil Robertson of Paris, TN, and Billy Chaffin of Denton, TX; five grandchildren, Joseph Robertson, Kayla Robertson, Kayla Smothers, Kevin Smothers, and Daisy Gaines; two great Grandchildren, Nevaeh Sprinkle, and Killian Smothers; and several Nieces and Nephews.

 

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St, Paris, TN.   His body is to be cremated.  A Graveside Service is tentatively planned for Monday or Tuesday December 5th or 6th at Flatwoods Methodist Cemetery near Big Sandy, TN.

Robert Lemonds

Robert Gene Lemonds, age 79, of Paris, TN, died Wednesday, November 30, 2016, at Paris Healthcare Center in Paris, TN.

 

He was a member of the Paris Community of Christ.  He was a former owner of Industrial Bearing in Paris, TN, and was a U.S. Army veteran.  He loved his grandchildren, playing cards with them, and singing and playing piano.   

 

Robert was born July 30, 1937 in Big Sandy, TN, to the late George Lemonds and the late Dorothy Evans Lemonds.

 

Robert was married to Barbara Fay Coleman  Lemonds on September 4, 1960, who survives of Paris, TN.  Along with his wife, he is also survived by two daughters, Teresa (Larry) Cloar of McKenzie, TN, and Tammy (Dave) Wilson of Nashville, TN;  three sisters, Linda (Billy) Nance of Paris, TN, Sarah Lane of Paris, TN, and Wanda (Billy) England of Paris, TN; two brothers, Freddie (Georgia) Lemonds of Paris, TN, and Tildon (Margaret) Lemonds of Paris, TN; five grandchildren, Rachel (Logan) Burks, Jared Henderson, Hanna Henderson, Trevor Cloar, and Teyton Cloar;  four sisters-in-law, Betty Lemonds of Cottage Grove, TN, Barbara Lee Lemonds of Paris, TN, Martha Lemonds of Paris, TN, and Carolyn Carraway of Hazel, KY; and one brother-in-law, Darrel (Debbie) Coleman of Friendship, TN.

 

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Madeline Collier and Thedia Brown; seven brothers, Milburn Lemonds, James B. Lemonds, Joel Lemonds, Darrel Lemonds, George Lee Lemonds, Johnny Lemonds, and Morris Lemonds. 

 

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St, Paris, TN, where visitation will be Friday, December 2, 2016, from 4 - 7 pm, and on Saturday December 3, 2016, from 12  –  2 pm.  The funeral service will be Saturday, December 3, 2016, at 2:00 pm, at LeDon Chapel of Ridgeway Funeral Home, with Dale Gallimore and Gary Collier officiating.

 

Pallbearers will be Dale Lemonds, Kenny Nance, Jared Henderson, Teyton Cloar, Trevor Cloar, Lonnie Dicus, Rusty Coleman, and Paul Tanner.

 

Interment will follow in Walker Cemetery.
