Mark Flanagan

Mark Allan Flanagan age 54, died Tuesday, May 30, 2017, at his residence in Paris, TN.

Mark was formerly employed by Emerson Electric Co. He was an avid NASCAR and University of Tennessee Volunteers fan.

Born March 21, 1963, in Paris,TN, he was the son of Betty Wilson (Jack) Lovelady of Paris and the late Harold Dean Flanagan.

Along with his mother, Mark is survived by two children: Amber Flanagan of Clanton, AL and Tyler Flanagan and special friend Regina Pierre of Titusville, FL; and two grandchildren: Ever Rose Flanagan and Blair Flanagan; and his Grandmother Frances Wilson of Paris.

Additional survivors include several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

The body is to be cremated with no services planned at this time.

Leone Ruth Leonard

Leone Ruth Leonard, age 93, of Paris, TN, died Sunday, May 28, 2017, at Henry County Medical Center in Paris, TN.

Leone was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church. She loved her family very much and enjoyed spending time with them.

Leone was born August 16, 1923, in Scopus, MO, to the late Earl Wilburn Coatney and the late Edith Amelia Rundel Coatney.

She was married to Henry David Leonard on July 4th, 1941 in St Charles, MO and he preceded her in death on October 29, 2008.

She is survived by three daughters, Denise (Gary) Wardle of Puryear, TN, Kaye (Andy) Laughlin of Eagle River, AK, and Davona Hatley of Brownsville, TX; two sons, Tim (Lisa) Leonard of Paris, TN, and David (Linda) Leonard of Roseburg, OR; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; and a special friend, Donna Shields.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by one son, Bob Leonard.

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St, Paris, TN.  The body is to be cremated with a private, family memorial service to be held at a later date.

Warren Dennis Bryant

Mr. Warren Dennis Bryant, 48, of Clarksville formerly of Paris died Friday, May 26, 2017, in Clarksville.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, May 30, 2017, at New Hope United Methodist Church. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.

Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at the church.

Gloria Dawn Underwood

Gloria Dawn Underwood, age 60, of Paris, TN, died Saturday, May 27, 2017, at her residence in Paris, TN.

Dawn formerly worked at Lowe’s in Paris, TN and Heilig-Myers.  She loved her dogs and taking care of other people.

Dawn was born October 3, 1956, in Evansville, IN to the late Ruth Peale Dunn and William T. Dunn who survives of Paris, TN.

She is survived by one son, Greg Brooks of Paris, TN; one nephew, Chris (Misty) Underwood of Paris, TN; one great nephew, Cody Underwood of Paris, TN; one great niece, Jamie Underwood of Paris, TN and several aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family.

In addition to her mother, she was also preceded in death by one brother, Jeff Underwood on January 20, 2017.

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St, Paris, TN, where visitation will be Tuesday May 30, 2017, from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm., with the funeral service at 1:00 pm at LeDon Chapel of Ridgeway Funeral Home, with Bro. Mike Wimberley officiating.

Serving as pallbearers will be Milton Peale, Randy Peale, Bryant Peale, Don Peale, Jerry Peale, and George Drye.

Burial will follow in Bethlehem Cemetery in Henry, TN.

Coby Charles Cope

Coby Charles Cope, age 81, of Mansfield, TN, died Thursday, May 25, 2017, at his residence in Mansfield, TN.

Coby was an operating engineer for Fort Myer Construction in Washington, D.C.  He was a member of the International Operators Union and a U.S. Army veteran, serving in the Korean War.

Coby was born in Harlan, KY on July 31, 1935, to the late Ephraim Tyler “E.T.” Cope, and the late Nelly Moore Cope.

He was married December 9, 1960, to Sally E. Welton Cope, who survives, of Mansfield, TN.  Along with his wife, he is also survived by one daughter, Cynthia Lynn Cope of Mansfield, TN; one son, Ray Charles (Kathleen) Cope of Covington, TN; five grandchildren, Lonnie (Tiffany) Tucker, Ben Tucker, Lauren (Jason) Steeg, Steven Cope, and Mark Cope; four great grandchildren, Knox Tucker, Alison Tucker, Cole Steeg, and Clint Steeg.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by three sisters, Mary Marcum, Pauline Flanary, and Rose Cope; and three brothers, John Cope Jr., Starling Cope, and Willie Cope.

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St, Paris, TN, where visitation will be Monday May 29, 2017, from 9:00 – 11:00 am., with the funeral service at 11:00 am at LeDon Chapel of Ridgeway Funeral Home with Bro. Johnny Farmer officiating.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Burial will follow in Henry County Tabernacle Cemetery.

Lula Mae Powell

Lula Mae “Lou” Hutson Powell        

Bonaire, Georgia – Lou Powell, 84, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, May 24, 2017.

Lou was born on September 5, 1932 in Buchanan, Tennessee to the late James and Betty Wilson Hutson. She worked in customer service at the Navy Exchange for many years. Lou was a member of Atoka Baptist Church in Atoka, Tennessee. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, and cooking in her spare time.

Along with her parents, her beloved husband, Calvin Eugene “Gene” Powell; daughter, LaJetta Lynn Powell; granddaughter, Charlotte Yake; five sisters; and four brothers, preceded her in death.

Her memory will forever be treasured by her daughters, Denita Grant (Clint) of Bonaire, Georgia, Sherry Knobbs of Millington, Tennessee; grandchildren, Aimce Graham (John) of Ocilla, Georgia, Jessica Gelling (Dan) of Roswell, Georgia, Danielle Defibaugh of Macon, Georgia, Adam Knobbs of Millington, Tennessee; and great-grandchildren, Gwenevere Gentry, Nathaniel Gentry, John Austin Graham, Grant Gelling and an “adopted” grandson, Bill McKee.

Visitation will be Saturday, May 27, 2017 from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home in Warner Robbins, Georgia. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at McEvoy Funeral Home in Paris, Tennessee with a visitation prior from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Following the service, Lou will be laid to rest in Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery in Paris, Tennessee.

Kenneth A. Salmon

Mr. Kenneth A. Salmon, age 51 of Puryear, Tennessee passed away Thursday, May 25, 2017 at his residence. A private family service will be held at a later date.

Kenneth Alan Salmon was born May 10, 1966 in Detroit, Michigan to the late John Richard Salmon and the late Marlene Joan McCormick Salmon. He is survived by a step-daughter: Kortney Roach of Murray, Kentucky; one brother: Michael (Tina) Salmon of Paris, Tennessee; two special friends: Wendy Mitchell and Donna Jo Raspberry; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Salmon was also preceded in death by one sister: Jo Anne Salmon; and one brother: Donald Ray Salmon.

Richard H. "Chief" Dunlap

Richard H. “Chief” Dunlap, age 82, died Tuesday, May 23, 2017, at the Paris Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center. 

Born September 14, 1934 in Springville, TN, he was the son of the late Herbert Dunlap and the late Hazel Dortch Dunlap.

Richard began working for the City of Paris Police department in 1964. In 1974 he took the office of Police Chief, a position he held until his retirement in 1994 Dunlap was a part of the group that helped to start the DARE Program in Paris and Henry County.  He also served in the United States Air Force.

Chief is survived by his former wife Joye Cole of Paris, two daughters: Charla Dunlap of Arlington, TN and Cheryl Davis Dodd of Claremore OK; a brother: William C. “Bill” (Linda) Dunlap of Paris; grandchildren: Jason Richard Davis, Jared Davis, Kasey Davis Maze, Jeff Snider and Jessie Snider Frazier.

Additional survivors include 7 great grandchildren; Nieces: Kathy Dunlap Brewer Diana Dunlap Williams, Donna Dunlap Sulcer and Carrie Dunlap Reed; and Nephews: Robert “Bubba” Dunlap, William “BJ” Dunlap and Daniel Dunlap.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a son Timothy Rex Davis, a brother Robert “Buddy” Dunlap, a granddaughter Angie Davis, a nephew Richard “Box” Dunlap, step father Ezell Dunlap and step mother Cleo Bomar Dunlap.

The funeral service will be held Friday, May 26, 2017, at 2PM in LeDon Chapel of Ridgeway Funeral Home, with Dale Gallimore and Paris Police Chief Charles Elizondo officiating.  Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4 until 7pm and continue on Friday after 11 am. Burial will follow in the Poplar Grove Cemetery.

Pallbearers for the service are Ean Reed, Charles "Chuck" Elizondo, Clyde Sulcer, Tony Elkins, Tony Hutcherson and John Brewer.  Honorary Pallbearers will be current and retired officers of the Paris Police Department.

June Catherine Butler

Former Henry Countian, June Catherine Butler, age 92, of Clarksville, TN, died Tuesday, May 23, 2017, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, TN.

June was a homemaker.  She formerly attended a United Methodist Church in Paris, TN.  She enjoyed sewing and gardening, especially her flowers, and loved fishing.  She was very proud that four of her five children served in the medical field.

June was born May 9, 1925, in Akron, TN, outside Chattanooga, to the late Donald David Welch and the late Maude Catherine Harris Welch.

She was married on July 4, 1940, to Ivan Hersholt Butler, who preceded her in death on June 30, 1996.

She is survived by two daughters, Cindy Jo Shaffer of Lebanon, TN, and Jan Berg of Clarksville, TN; two sons, Bobby Gene Butler of Clarksville, TN, and Dr. Thomas W. (Mary) Butler of Mobile, AL; one brother, Howard (Imogene) Welch of Knoxville, TN; nine grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.

Along with her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by one son, Donald I. Butler; one son-in-law, Steve Shaffer; one brother Albert Welch; two sisters, Alice Webb and Jo Carolyn Rigg; and one grandchild.

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St, Paris, TN, where visitation will be Friday May 26, 2017, from 9:00 – 10:30 am.  A graveside service will be Friday May 26, 2017, at 11:00 am at Hillcrest Memorial Park, with burial to follow.

Family will serve as pallbearers.

Alberta Dennis

Alberta Wheatley Dennis, age 92 of Paris, died Thursday May 18, 2017 at Paris Healthcare and Rehab Center.

Alberta attended Puryear Baptist Church for many years.  She retired from Pontiac State Bank in Pontiac, MI after 21 years.  She enjoyed eating and fellowshipping at family get-togethers, camping, traveling, and flower gardening.

Born June 29, 1924 in Paris, TN, she was the daughter of the late Richard Wheatley and the late Gladys Rushing Wheatley.

Alberta was married to Forrest W. Dennis on October 25, 1945 and he preceded in death on February 26, 1993.

She is survived by one daughter, Roxanna Kay (Andy) Queen of Hendersonville, NC; three sisters, Peggy Nelson of Waterford, MI, Sarah (Robert) Brown of Waterford, MI, and Sandra Martin of Goodyear, AZ; one brother, James Wheatley of Spring Hill, TN, one grandson, Jason Dennis of Portland, OR;  five sisters-in-law, Betty Wheatley of Springville, TN, Carlene Wheatley of Paris, TN, Modena Wheatley of Columbia, TN, Judy Wheatley of Auburn Hills, MI, and Doris McCarty of Holiday FL; and many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. 

Besides her husband and parents, Alberta was also preceded in death by one son, Randall Dennis; and five brothers, Fred Wheatley, Dalton Wheatley, Frank Wheatley, Wayne Wheatley, and Jerry Wheatley.

Rose Hearnsberger

Rose Mary Hearnsberger, age 65 passed away Thursday, May 18, 2017.Born December 19, 1951, in Paris, TN she was the daughter of the late Milton Wade and the late Ercell Martin Wade.

She is survived by her husband Mike Hearnsberger; sons Doug (Telisa) Hearnsberger and Dennis (Jane) Hearnsberger; grandsons Henry and Duke Hearnsberger; brother Freddy Wade and several nieces and nephews.

Along with her parents she was preceded in death by a sister Ruth Barham and two brothers Joe and Buddy Wade.

Visitation with the family will be held from 3:00-5:00pm Saturday, May 20, 2017 at Murfreesboro Funeral Home in Murfreesboro, TN.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm, Monday, May 22, 2017 in LeDon Chapel of Ridgeway Funeral Home, Paris, TN.

Dale Thatcher

Mr. Dale Wayne Thatcher, Sr. age 64 of Paris, Tennessee passed away Thursday, May 18, 2017 at his residence. His body is to be cremated and no services are scheduled at this time.

Dale Wayne Thatcher was born August 16, 1952 in Alma, Michigan to the late Henry Krickel and the late Evelyn Thatcher. On July 6, 1985 he married Joan Frances Jenkins Thatcher who preceded him in death on December 31, 2010. He was also preceded by a nephew: Craig Thatcher in November of 1991.

Mr. Thatcher is survived by a daughter: Sarah Thatcher of Paris, TN; one son: Dale Thatcher, Jr. of Paris, TN; one brother: Clyde (Elaine) Thatcher of Shepherd, MI; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.

Dale was a mechanic, wrecker driver and he owned Dale's Towing. He was also a truck driver, volunteer fire fighter, E.M.T., and First Responder.

Betty Scott

Betty Jane Scott, age 87 of Paris, TN, went to be with the Lord Jesus Christ on May 17th, at 2:30pm. Born February 8th, 1930, in Auburn, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Luther Alexander Wilson and the late Lucy Calhoun Thompson. She was married September 8th, 1950, to David Freeman Scott, who proceeded her in death on January 1st, 2011.

She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Paris, Tennessee where she sang in the choir for over 25 years. She was a retired Library Aide from Henry County High School with over 25 years of service. She loved those she worked with and all the students she knew down through the years. She enjoyed her work there and hated to have to retire. Betty dearly loved her family and spending time with them. She loved to work in the garden and flowers were her favorite pastime. Singing in the choir for many years was her joy and her calling. And she loved her Church and friends there deeply. She never met a stranger.

Visitation will be on Sunday, May 21st from 2pm-6pm at McEvoy Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be on Monday, May 22nd at 10am at the First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Carol Wade and Rev. Doug Scott Officiating. Burial will follow at 2:30pm at Auburn Cemetery, Auburn Kentucky.

She leaves a daughter: Susan Scott Johnson of Paris; three sons: David Michael Scott of Shamong, N.J., Phillip Gregory (Patricia) Scott of Stuart, Fla., and Robert Douglas (Venissa Jill) Scott of Paris, Tennessee. One sister-in-law Annie Christine Scott Blaser of Riverhead, N.Y.; three grandchildren: Hansford Alexander Scott of Paris, TN., David Nicholas(Lauren) Scott of Cinnaminson, NJ and Isabelle Marie Scott, of Boston, MA. One great grandchild Layla Scott of Cinnaminson, NJ. Four stepgrandchildren: Melanie (Ronnie Jr.) Stinson of Hickory, Alecia (Brian) Webb of Mayfield, Amanda (Zack) Curtis of Mount Juliet Four great-stepgrandchildren: Laney Stinson of Hickory, Christopher Webb of Mayfield and Lauren and Eric Curtis, both of Mount Juliet; one niece: Tracey King of Brooklyn, N.Y.; one great niece Annabel Scott King of Brooklin, N.Y.

Jay Van Patten

Mr. Jay S. Van Patten age 95 of Paris, Tennessee passed away Tuesday May 16, 2017 at the Henry County Medical Center. His funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 18, 2017, 2:30 P.M. at McEvoy Funeral Home with Bro. Charles Cate officiating. Burial will follow at Walker Cemetery. Acting as Pallbearers will be Nathan Foster, Harrison Foster, Jerry Olive, Mark Horner, Daniel Brockwell and David Park. Visitation for Mr. Van Patten is scheduled at McEvoy Funeral Home on Wednesday from 4:00 until 7:00 P.M. and on Thursday after 11:00 A.M. until service.

Mr. Van Patten was born in New York to the late James Van Patten and Anna Jones. He married Ruth Pennington on May 5, 1946 and she preceded him in death on February 22, 2016. Jay is survived by two daughters: Cherylanne Van Patten and Barbara (John) McDavid, both of Paris, Tennessee; grandchildren: Kim (Brian) Foster, Kelley (Jim) Fox, Michael (Tara) McDavid, Brian (Alisa) McDavid, Mark Horner, Brandy Horner, Katelyn Horner, and Allie (Daniel) Brockwell; great grandchildren: Nathan (Chelsea) Foster, Harrison Foster; Anna, Landon, and Shelby Fox; Tessa (John) Evans, Micah McDavid; Brianna, Keirsten, and John McDavid; Robert Daniel Brockwell III; great great grandchild: Lily Evans. Jay is also preceded in death by his brother: William Van Patten.

Jay worked and retired from Midland Brake of Paris. He was an avid gardener and loved working outdoors.

Earl Caho

Earl Leonard Caho, age 49, of Paris, TN, died Monday, May 15, 2017, at Henry County Medical Center in Paris, TN.

 

Earl was employed at McDonald’s in Paris, TN, and formerly worked for Gary Elkins Construction.  He loved and enjoyed cooking, playing cards, bowling, and listening to music. 

 

Earl was born February 11, 1968, in Peoria, IL, to the late Kenneth Julian Caho and the late Mary Jane Brown Caho.

 

He was married December 19, 1997, to Nancy Grzybowski Caho, who survives, of Paris, TN.

 

Along with his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Lauren Ann (Johnathan) Baxter of Paris, TN; one son, Tristan Michael Caho of Paris, TN; one sister, Dora Moon of Panama City Beach, FL; and one brother, George (Melissa) Caho of Springville, TN. 

 

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St, Paris, TN.   The body is to be cremated with a private family Celebration of Life to be held at a later date. 

Dororhty Sue Rumbley Brannon

Dorothy Sue Rumbley Brannon, 88, of Puryear died on Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 14, 2017 at the Anna Mae Owen Hospice House in Murray.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 18th at Puryear Baptist Church with Mike Rhodes, Steve Gallimore and Chad Kennedy officiating. Burial will follow at Puryear Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at Puryear Baptist Church and after 9 a.m. Thursday at the church.

She was born June 2, 1928 in Elkhorn to the late John and Johnnie Bogie Rumbley. She was married on October 18, 1947 to Harold Hampton Brannon, who preceded her in death on December 21, 1996.

She joined Puryear Baptist Church in February of 1952 and she passionately loved her church and every member of it. She was a deacon wife, former YWA leader, and most of all she loved and fixed meals for all her pastors. She formerly worked at Diggs Motor Company, the Henry County Trustee office, Henry County Farm Bureau, and Laird Brick Company. Her primary occupation though was that of a devoted farm wife/mother serving as the matriarch of Brannon farms where she still had a little say in the operation. In later years, she battled continual health issues and lots of bad luck including deploying the air bags on her car three times in one year and breaking most every bone in her body at one time or another. She moved into Eiffel Gardens Assisted Living on August 15, 2011 and advanced through the ranks to gain the title of Resident Ambassador having only to be put in “time-out” a couple of times. 

She is survived by two sons: Tim (Debbie) and Tony (Lisa) Brannon of Puryear; four grandchildren Natalie (Joey) Boyd, Kelly (Cody) Bumpus, and Caleb and Jonah Brannon; two great-grandchildren Luke and Isabelle Boyd; a sister-in-law Betty Gallimore who was more like a sister; a niece and several nephews.    

She also was preceded in death by two brothers: J.T. (Vera) and James Rumbley; and two brother-in-laws Thomas Brannon and Doyle Gallimore.

Nyle Marlow

Mr. Nyle R. Marlow, age 80 of Paris, passed away Saturday, May 13, 2017 at St. Thomas Midtown Hospital in Nashville. No services are scheduled.

Nyle Robert Marlow was born June 5, 1936 in Bangor, New York to the late Robert Marlow and the late Louise Spencer Marlow. On February 26, 1958 he married Elfriede Reith Marlow who preceded him in death on February 24, 2016.

Mr. Marlow is survived by three daughters: Gloria (Paul) Irla-Marlow of Clarkston, MI, Anne Meade of Belleville, MI, and Peggy (Tom) Williams of Hazel Park, MI; seven grandchildren: Jason Irla, Marlo Ziegler, Becky Orow, Justin Meade, Kayley Meade, Jessica Sanchez, and Sarah Williams; and nine great grandchildren.

Mr. Marlow was also preceded in death by a son-in-law: Stan Meade, one sister: Patricia Paul, and one brother: Harold Spencer.

Nyle Marlow enjoyed people and everyone loved his sense of humor.

Joe Crouch

Joe Lee Crouch, age 84, of Paris, TN, died Saturday, May 13, 2017, at his residence in Paris, TN.  

Joe worked at McCartney Produce Company for over 40 years.  He retired as a truck driver for Terry Crouch Trucking in Paris, TN.  He had served in the Tennessee National Guard, and was a member of VanDyke Church of Christ.  He enjoyed vegetable gardening. 

Joe was born November 10, 1932, in the Elkhorn area of Henry County to the late Joseph Carl Crouch and the late Mamie Blonde Boyd Crouch.  He was married February 17, 1953, to Mattie Earline Vaughn Crouch, who preceded him in death on June 26, 2010.

He is survived by three daughters,  Jo Ann (Steve) Cox of Paris, TN, Martha (David) McMinn of Goose Creek, SC, and Veda (Steve) Lapp of Paradise, PA; three sons, Jimmy (Gail) Crouch, Terry (Diana) Crouch and Richard (Brenda) Crouch, all of Paris, TN; four sisters, Gail (Randy) Ramage of Madisonville, KY, Linda Snyder of Murfreesboro, TN, Phyllis McBride of Paris, TN, and Virginia Lange of Paris, TN; 17 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and special friend, Polly Conger of Paris, TN.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was also preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Allene Daniel and Verla Pauline Allen; and three brothers, Joseph Carl “JC” Crouch, Jr., Darrell Crouch, and Robert Wayne Crouch.

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St, Paris, TN, where visitation will be Monday, May 15, 2017, from 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm, and continue Tuesday, May 16, 2017, from 11:00 am – 2:00 pm.  The funeral service will be at 2:00 pm Tuesday, May 16, 2017, at LeDon Chapel of Ridgeway Funeral Home, with Roger Banks and Michael McMinn officiating.  

Pallbearers will be Randall Cox, Brian Crouch, Brandon Crouch, Justin Crouch, Greg Crouch, and Todd Lapp.

Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park in Paris, TN.

Billy Nance

Billy Joe Nance, age 80, of Paris, TN, died Thursday, May 11, 2017 at his residence.

Billy was a member of Paris Community of Christ.  He retired after many years as a toolmaker. He formerly worked at Spinks Clay Company, and Southside Machine and Tool, and then retired from Turner Machine and Design. He loved working on old cars, tractors, and gardening. He was also a member of the antique tractor club in Henry County and was also a U.S. Army Veteran.

Born June 6, 1936 in Cottage Grove, TN, he was the son of the late Roy Carr Nance and the late Celia Ann Call Nance.

Billy married Linda Lemonds Nance of Paris, TN on December 27, 1956, and she survives, along with three sons, Randy (Kim) Nance of Springfield, KY, Kenny Nance of Paris, TN, and Gary (Deena) Nance of Paris, TN; one sister in law, Bobbie Jean Nance of Paris, TN; seven grandchildren, Dustin Nance, Morgan Nance, Alli Nance, Jordan Nance, Kenzie Nance, Celia Nance, and Roy Nance; and one great grandchild, Delila Nance.

In addition to his parents, Billy was preceded in death by one sister, June Nance; and two brothers, Thomas Nance and Lynn Nance.

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St, Paris, TN where visitation will be on Monday, May 15, 2017 from 4 - 7 pm and continue on Tuesday from 9 - 10:30 am. There will be a graveside service at 11:00 am Tuesday, May 16, 2017, at Walker Cemetery in Paris, TN with Dale Gallimore and Gary Collier officiating.

Pallbearers will be Gary Nance, Kenny Nance, Frankie Nance, Dustin Nance, Keith Nance, Eric Nance, and Keith Fitzhugh. Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Nichols, Joe Allen, Tony Nance, and Gary Barrett.

Jimmie France

Mrs. "Jimmie" Laverne France, age 95 of Paris, passed away Thursday, May 11, 2017 at her residence. Her visitation will be Monday, May 15, 2017 from 4:00-7:00 PM at McEvoy Funeral Home. No funeral service will follow. Her body will be cremated and a private burial of cremated remains will be held later at Bethesda Cemetery.

Jimmie Laverne France was born January 14, 1922 in Henry County, Tennessee to the late James William Sweeney and the late Bettie Rhodes Sweeney.

Mrs. France is survived by one daughter: Fran Shelton of Paris, TN; four grandchildren: Anthony (Deborah) McElroy, Cassandra Tyler, Heather Cooper, and Maria Cooper; several great grandchildren; several great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. She was also preceded in death by a son: William "Bill" Cooper; three sisters: Christine Foust, Rheudine Calk, and Mary Sue Marshall.

Jimmie was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Paris and she retired from Holley Carburetor in Paris.

Jimmy Pierce

Mr. Jimmy C. Pierce, age 55 of Paris, passed away Monday, May 8, 2017 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital. No services are scheduled at this time.

Jimmy Carl Pierce was born March 20, 1962 in Columbia, Kentucky to the late George Carl Pierce and the late Susie Anna Patrum Pierce. He is survived by a son: Jason Pierce of Somerset, KY; one sister: Naoma Birmingham of Paris, TN; four brothers: Roy, Johnny, Leeroy, and Mark (Michelle) Pierce, all of Paris, TN; three grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.

Joe N. Hamlin

Joe N. Hamlin, age 78, of Henry, TN, died Monday, May 8, 2017, at the Jackson Madison County General Hospital.

Joe was member of First Baptist Church in McKenzie, TN and was raised Primitive Baptist.  He retired after 40 years as a brick mason.  He served his apprenticeship with Hugh Scudder Construction in Union City, TN.  He then began working Kenny Noles in masonry before becoming a co-owner of Holt Construction Company in Humbolt, TN.  During his high school years, Joe traveled with his uncle, Arlin Bush, shearing sheep in TN, AL, and MS. He graduated in 1957 from Henry High School in Henry, TN and served 9 years in the National Guard.   Joe was an avid fisherman.  He enjoyed raising tomatoes, gardening, woodworking, and raising colts.

Born February 28, 1939, in Henry, TN, he was the son of the late Lonnie Norris Hamlin and the late Lucille Bush Hamlin.

Joe was married to Jerry Haynes Hamlin on November 24, 1960, and she survives of Henry, TN.  Along with his wife, he is survived by two daughters, LeAnn Hamlin of Kissimmee, FL, and JoEllen Hamlin of Henry, TN; 3 sisters, Doris (John) Chilcutt of Paris, TN, Lonnell Parker of Nashville, TN, and Betty (Robert) Oliver of Paris, TN;  one brother, Lee Roy (Linda) Hamlin of Henry, TN;  two  grandchildren, Nicholas Garces, and Katelyn Garces both of Collierville, TN; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by a sister, Marie Owens.

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St, Paris, TN where visitation will be on Wednesday, May 10, 2017 from 4 – 8 pm and continue on Thursday from 10 am – 1 pm.   The funeral service will be Thursday, May 11, 2017 at 1:00 pm at LeDon Chapel of Ridgeway Funeral Home with Bud Merwin and Don Williams officiating.

Pallbearers will be Adron Joyner, Tommy Crane, Kenny Noles, and Steve Lewis.

Burial will follow in Bethlehem Cemetery in Henry, TN.

Glen Putnam

Glenn Ray Putnam, age 73, of Paris, TN died Wednesday, May 03, 2017 in Paris, TN.

He was the son to the late Calvin Raymond Putnam and the late Ninfa Nieves Gonzalez Putnam.

He is survived by his wife Judith Peck Putnam of Paris, TN; three sons, Darrell (Linda) Putnam of Bear, Delaware, Doug (Stephanie) Putnam of Gran Saline, Texas, and Dennis Putnam of Canton, Texas; one sister-in-law, Carol Peck of Paris, Tennessee; seven Grandchildren and four Great Grandchildren.

He will be cremated, with no services planned.

Wilma Brown

Mrs. Wilma Rose Medlock Brown, age 87 of Paris passed away Monday, May 1, 2017 at her residence. Her funeral service will be 11:00 AM Thursday, May 4, 2017 at East Wood Church of Christ with John Dale and Corey Sawyers officiating. Burial will follow at Maplewood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 PM Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at McEvoy Funeral Home and after 10:00 AM Thursday at East Wood Church of Christ.

Wilma Rose Medlock Brown was born April 13, 1930 in St. Louis, MO to the late John Sylvester Medlock and the late Rosa Belle Odom Medlock. On March 18, 1951 she married John Franklin "Frank" Brown who preceded her in death on February 28, 2008.

Mrs. Brown is survived by two daughters: Jennifer (Al) Wright of Paris, TN and Martha (Bill) Porter of Round Hill, VA; two sons: Mark Brown and Craig (Janis) Brown, all of Paris, TN; twelve grandchildren: Jason (Angelique) Brown, Joseph Brown, Natalie (Brent) Thurmond, Lydia Flowers, John David Flowers, Marcia (Brett) Wimberley, Lauren (Jacob) Shelton, Phillip (Rikkilynn) Brown, Sarah Porter, Sam Porter, Carla Porter, and Jennifer Porter; fifteen great grandchildren: Olivia Harber, Evan Flood, Landry Flowers, Nathan and Nolan Hill, Claire and Ella Thurmond, Wells and Madalynn Wimberley, Caroline and Georgia Shelton, Emery Lynn Brown, Macy Brown, J.C. Brown, and Makray Brown.

Mrs. Brown was also preceded in death by two sisters: Rudean (Bill) McKenzie and Edith McPeak; and one brother: Thurman Medlock.

Wilma was a longtime member of East Wood Church of Christ. She formerly worked at the Golden Peacock/Mitchum, Emerson Electric and Lingl. She was co-owner of Brown Sign Service of Paris.

Jerrell Rockett

Jerrel Thomas Rockett, age 76, of Dresden, TN, died Monday May 1, 2017, at the Jackson Madison County General Hospital.  He was a retired timber cutter from Replogle Enterprises in Henry, TN.

Born June 3, 1940, in Sharon, TN, he was the son of the late Johnny Rockett and Vida McGowan Rockett McWherter. He married Rachel Faye Bradberry Rockett in 1959 and she died May 13, 2007.

Jerrel formerly attended Hodges Chapel Baptist Church. He enjoyed playing music with his family in the Rockett Family Band

He is survived by his 3 children: Donna Moore and special friend Charlie Reynolds, Tommy (Karen) Rockett and Jimmy (Monica) Rockett; 4 sisters: Norma (Jerry) Redden, Carolyn (Jerry) Moubray, Lillie Mae Parrott and Doris (Bob) Powers, all of Dresden, TN.  Additional survivors include 8 Grandchildren and 13 Great Grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and wife, Jerrel was preceded in death by a sister, Martha Carroll and two brothers, William Elzie Rockett and Edward Rockett.

Ridgeway Funeral Home will be handling the arrangements. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4-7 pm and continue on Thursday after 11 am until the service. His funeral service will be Thursday at 2pm in LeDon Chapel of Ridgeway Funeral Home with Rick Walker officiating.

Burial will follow the service in the Bradberry Cemetery.

Family members will serve as Pallbearers.
