Donald Bruce Ziegler Sr.

Donald Bruce Ziegler Sr., age 87 of Paris, TN, died Monday, July 31, 2017 at Huntingdon Health and Rehab Center in Huntingdon, TN.

He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Paris, TN, and member of American Legion Ferris Goodridge Post 330 in Spencerport, NY.  He work construction for many years and enjoyed Hunting and fishing.

Donald was born June 16, 1930, in Spencerport, NY, to the late Donald T. Ziegler and the late Dorothy Josephine Diehl Ziegler.

He was married on March 3, 1951 to Lois Jane Yount Ziegler, who preceded him in death on April 1, 2016.

He is survived by one son, Donald Bruce Ziegler, Jr. and life partner Derrick Balsam of East Rochester, NY; two brothers, Gary Robert Ziegler and friend Diane Sealy of Paris, TN, and Richard Lee (Judy) Ziegler of Spencerport, NY; and fifteen nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents and wife, he is preceded in death by two sisters, Joyce Hills and Shirley Vancott.

The body is to be cremated, with a memorial service to be announced as soon as possible.

Brigette Dean

Ms. Brigitte Dean, age 81 of Paris passed away Friday, July 28, 2017 at her daughter's residence. Her body is to be cremated and her memorial service will be Wednesday, August 2, 2017 at McEvoy Funeral Home with Chad Kennedy officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 12:00 noon Wednesday prior to the service.

Brigitte Dean was born February 26, 1936 in Fuerth, Germany to the late Ernst Kreisselmeier and the late Betti Laegel Kreisselmeier. On December 3, 1955 she married Leo G. Dean who preceded her in death on April 2, 1994. She was also preceded in death by a son, Harold Dean on March 29, 2017.

Ms. Dean is survived by a daughter, Cynthia (Bobby) Eaton of Puryear, TN; a son, David (Camy) Dean of Puryear, TN; a daughter-in-law, Rebecca Dean of Poplarville, MS; seven grandchildren: Mick Eaton, Steve Eaton, Keith Eaton, Kyle Eaton, Jennifer Dean, Lindsay Dean, and Olivia Rice; ten great grandchildren: Cody Eaton, Wesley Eaton, Annsley Eaton, Eva Eaton, Lillian Eaton, Jack Eaton, Londyn Rice, Bianca Adams, Bradley Adams, and Jacob Adams.

Ms. Dean was a member of Fairview Baptist Church. She formerly worked at Holley Carburetor and PML in Paris.

Rufus Weatherford

Rufus Lee Weatherford, age 81 of Buchanan, TN, died Thursday, July 27, 2017, at his residence in Buchanan, TN.

 

He worked for Sears as a service repairman for 17 years and at Holly Carburetor Plant until it closed.  He retired after 25 years of service as a maintenance supervisor for Paris Healthcare.  He was a member of Blood River Church of Christ.

 

Rufus was born May 31, 1936, in Buchanan, TN, to the late Will Weatherford and the late Thelma Wilson Weatherford.

 

He was married October 31, 1953, to Fayetta Dodson Weatherford, who survives, of Buchanan, TN.

 

Along with his wife, he is also survived three daughters, Rhonda (Mickey) Thurmond of Buchanan, TN, Kim (Roy) Vassal of Buchanan, TN, and Felicia Weatherford of Paris, TN; two sons, Ricky (Beth) Weatherford of Buchanan, TN, and Kevin Weatherford of Buchanan, TN; eight grandchildren, Summer (Jason) Lampkins, Justin (Leslie) Thurmond, Britnie Vassal and friend Gary Bond, Randi Vassal, Levi (Mindy) Weatherford, Amy (Chris) Davis, Whitney Weatherford, and Amanda Weatherford and friend Patrick Connelly; 15 great grandchildren, Blake Terry, Colter Thurmond, Jack Lampkins, Adelyn Bond, Jensen Pewitt, Eli Webb, Ali Taylor, Ava Taylor, Austin Weatherford, Peyton Weatherford, Jacob Davis, Owen Davis, Alyssa Hudgins, Cameron Connelly, and Jackson Connelly.

 

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by one sister, Uldine Moody; and one brother, Donald Weatherford.

 

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St, Paris, TN, where visitation will be Friday, July 28, 2017 from 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm, and continue Saturday, July 29, 2017, from 10:00 am – 11:00 am.  The funeral service will be Saturday, July 29, 2017, at 11:00 am at LeDon Chapel of Ridgeway Funeral Home, with Eric Davis and David Alan Jackson officiating.

 

Pallbearers will be Justin Thurmond, Jason Lampkins, Levi Weatherford, Chris Davis, Kent Moody, and Shane Moody.

 

Burial will be in Weatherford Cemetery in Buchanan, TN.

Dorothy B. Hicks

Dorothy B. Hicks, 97, passed away on July 25, 2017. She was the last of thirteen children, born on December 21, 1919 in Dresden, TN and lived the majority of her life in Henry County where she was currently a resident of Paris Health Care Nursing Home and a member of the First United Methodist Church.

Dorothy was a retired CNA and continued working as an in home sitter for the elderly for many years after her retirement.  She loved antiques and older homes. Her favorite television show was “Property Brothers” on HGTV.  More than anything, Dorothy enjoyed a good meal and spending time with friends and family.

Dorothy was predeceased by her parents; James and Lola Gore Hicks; brothers, James Jr., Guy, Carlos and Harold Hicks; sisters, Minnie Alexander, Lexie Grubbs, Aubrey Adams, Ivie Wilson, May Adams, Lubie Prather, Ottie Bell Tilley and Helen Anderson.  She is survived by her loving friends, Geraldean Stevens, Peggy Sims, Meggen, Alden, Collin and Alexander Strickland who all were a blessing to her in her final years; and many nieces and nephews.

The family would also like to thank the staff of Paris Health Care Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for the many years of exceptional care, support and love given to Dorothy over the years.

A Graveside Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 29, 2017 at Sunset Cemetery in Dresden.

Johnathan Fanning

Jonathan Lee “Johnny” Fanning, age 57 of Paris, TN, died Monday, July 24, 2017.

He attended Palestine United Methodist Church. He formerly worked at B & G Equipment in Paris, TN for several years. He was a “jack of all trades” and an avid hunter.

Johnny was born on December 12, 1959, in Jacksonville, FL, to the late James Edward Fanning and the late Sylvia Roney Fanning Dobbs.

He was married June 14, 1994, to Edythe Kathryn Grischbowsky Fanning, who survives, of Paris, TN.

Along with his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Jennifer Lynn (Daniel) Houtari of Michigan, and Jessica Lee (Miguel) Caraballo of Colorado; one son, Jonathan Levi Fanning of Paris, TN; three brothers, James Edward Fanning of Paris, TN, William Joel (Lola) Fanning of San Antonio, TX, and Steven Dobbs of Tyler, TX; three grandchildren; and step-father, Randy Dobbs of Tyler, TX.

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St, Paris, TN.

The body is to be cremated.  A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 29, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. at Palestine United Methodist Church, with Steve Gallimore officiating.

Pamela Lewis

Pamela “Pam” Sue Lewis, age 61, died Saturday. July 22, 2017, at her residence in Stewart, TN.

Born August 15, 1955, in Defiance, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Eli Carl Font and the late Geraldine Willitzer Font. She was formerly a LPN at the Manor House in Dover, TN.

Pam attended the Leatherwood Church, where she sang in the choir and attended a bible study/craft group on Thursdays.  She enjoyed crocheting, hunting and fishing.  She loved her dog Gidget, the Christmas holiday, cooking cookies, fudge and peanut brittle at Christmas.

She was married October 4, 1979 to Arthur Duane Lewis, Sr., who preceded her in death on August 13, 2016.

She is survived by two daughters, Sonia (Merl) Ensing of Clarksville, TN, and Kathy (Al) Flores of Ottawa, OH; one son, Arthur D. (Heather) Lewis, Jr., of Cloverdale, OH; two sisters, Mary Ankney of Defiance, OH, and Shirley (Joe) Cramer of Defiance, OH; one brother, Larry (Marie) Font of Angola, IN; ten​ grandchildren, Joshua Ramon, Devan Lewis, Mikey Sims, Dusty Ensing, Amanda Ramon, Courtney (Zach) Payne, Daley Lewis Dara Lewis, Taron Butler and Cami Butler; and three great grandchildren.

Evalyn "Evie" Fitzsimmons

Evalyn H. “Evie” Fitzsimmons, age 100, of McKenzie, TN, died Wednesday, April 20, 2017, at McKenzie Regional Hospital in McKenzie, TN. 

Evie retired from C-R Industries in Elgin, IL.  She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Paris.  She was an avid reader, loved flowers, and enjoyed traveling in her younger years.

Evie was born February 25, 1917, in Erdahl, MN, to the late Arthur Gilbertson and the late Blenda Markegard Gilbertson.

She was married in 1976 to Alan Fitzsimmons, who preceded her in death on October 10, 1983.

She is survived by one daughter, Karin Bain of Paris, TN; one son, Raymond Donnie (Stella) Krumrey of Old Harbor, AK; one sister, Lou Anne (Myron) Earsley of Arizona; four grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.

Along with her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by one sister, Helen Schumaker; and one brother, Glen Gilbertson.

Tracie Diggs Webb

Mrs. Tracie Diggs Webb, 48, of Paris died Saturday, July 22, 2017, at Henry County Medical Center.

Services will be held at 3 p.m. on Thursday, July 27, 2017, at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church.

Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. on Thursday at the church.

Helen Sykes

Helen Doris Sykes, age 90 of Paris, TN, died Friday, July 21, 2017, at Towne Square Care in Puryear, TN. 

She was a long-time member of Maplewood Baptist Church.  She enjoyed cooking, reading, music, and spending time with family and friends.  She also enjoyed fishing and being outdoors in her younger years.

Helen was born on June 19, 1927, in McAlester, OK, to the late Walter Claude Hogan and the late Mattie Lowry Hogan.

She was married June 8, 1946, to John Webber Sykes, Jr., who preceded her in death on January 10, 2017.

She is survived by one daughter, Sylvia (Howard) Goldberg of Louisville, KY; and one son, Johnny W. Sykes III of Paris, TN.

Along with her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by one sister, Norma Elaine Arnold; and one brother, Walter Hogan.

Tom Merrell

Tom “Cowboy” Merrell, age 82 of Paris, TN, died Friday, July 21, 2017 in Paris, TN.

He retired after many years as a construction worker for Dye & Stephens Construction Company in Paris, TN.  He also enjoyed helping at Houston Trucking Company.  He loved fishing, hunting, and riding four wheelers.

Tom was born November 26, 1934, in Springville, TN, to the late Carl Merrell and the late Lilly Johnson Merrell.

He is survived by two daughters, Sheryl (P.D.) Clendenin of Springville, TN, and Anita Merrell of Carthage, MS; he helped raise Donna Snow of Puryear, TN, and Roger (Norma) Carroll of Puryear, TN; two step-daughters, Gail Vickery of Paris, TN, and Joni Keesee of Paris, TN; two sisters, Lynn Tillman of Paris, TN, and Joy Dowdy of Paris, TN; two brothers, Bobby Merrell of Paris, TN, and Joe Merrell of Big Sandy, TN; four grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents, he was also preceded in death by two sisters, Marty Johnson and Margaret Rick; and two brothers, Jimmy Merrell and Kenneth Merrell.

The body is to be cremated.

Jonathan Barron

Jonathan Robert “Jon” Barron, age 31 of Paris, TN, died Thursday, July 20, 2017, in Paris, TN.

He worked as a farm manager at Chuck Hayes’s Farm in Paris, TN.  He was a United States Navy Veteran with several accommodations.  He was an Assistant Fire Chief of the Oakland Volunteer Fire Department, and a member of the Henry County Rescue Squad.

Jon was born on December 3, 1985, in Ft. Wayne, IN.  He is survived by his father, Jamie (Connie) Barron of Paris, TN, and his mother Jo Ann (Todd) Stetzel of Churubusco, IN.

Along with his parents, his is also survived by two sons, Eli Barron and Hunter Barron, both of Paris, TN; the mother of his children, Tosha Barron of Paris, TN; three sisters, Amanda (Tony) Troendly of Churubusco, IN, Amber (Phil) Fink of Warsaw, IN, and Jacci Baxter of Paris, TN; two brothers, Chip Barron of Paris, TN, and Jason (Shelly) Barron of LaOtto, IN; three nieces, Macy Barron, Morgan Barron, and Caroline Barron; three nephews, Sam Troendly, Joey Troendly, and Jameson Barron; and his fiancée Cindy Lawton and her son, Conner Lawton.

James H. Miller

Mr. James H. "Hardy" Miller, age 78 of Paris, passed away Thursday, July 20, 2017 at Murray Calloway County Hospital. His funeral service will be 2:00 PM Saturday, July 22, 2017 at McEvoy Funeral Home with Debra McGuire officiating. Visitation will be after 11:00 AM Saturday until service time at 2:00. Burial will follow at Walker Cemetery in Cottage Grove, TN. Pallbearers will be Robert "Scooter" Miller, Michael Salmon, Tim Lowry, Blake Triplett, Doyle Shepard, and Mark Hemphill.

James "Hardy" Miller was born May 9, 1939 in Paris, Tennessee to the late James L. Miller and the late Beulah Hardin Miller. On December 6, 1969 he married Nora "Jo" Austin Miller who preceded him in death on November 10, 2003.

Mr. Miller is survived by three daughters: Patricia Miller of California, Phyllis (Tom) Lowry of Lavonia, GA, and Tina (Michael) Salmon of Paris, TN; a sister, Edna Ann (Doyle) Shepard of Morristown, TN; a brother, Robert Dale "Scooter" Miller of Paris, TN; one grandchild, Erica (Blake) Triplett; one great grandchild, Mallory Jo Triplett; and a very special friend, Clara Dowdy of Paris, TN.

Mr. Hardy Miller was a United States Army Veteran serving two tours in Vietnam. He was a lifetime member of the VFW (past Commander) and AMVETS, also a member of the American Legion. He worked and retired from the City of Paris for close to 20 years. He was the Animal Control Officer for most of this time. Mr. Miller enjoyed fishing and Texas Holdem poker.

Tina Hilt

Ms. Tina Hilt, age 54 of New Concord, Kentucky passed away Sunday, July 16, 2017 at Murray Calloway County Hospital.

Visitation will be from 12:00-2:00 PM Sunday, July 23, 2017 at McEvoy Funeral Home in Paris, with funeral services to follow at 2:00 PM on Sunday at McEvoy Funeral Home. Tammy Blakenship will officiate.  Burial will be at Memorial Cemetery in Paris. Pallbearers will be Adam Brockwell, Doug Brockwell Jr., Doug Brockwell Sr., Stephen Hilt Jr., Jason Johnson, and "Tattoo" Dave Harms.

Tina Marie Hilt was born December 11, 1962 to the late Charles Edward Hilt and the late Violet Kathryn Calhoun Hilt. She was formerly married to Doug Brockwell Sr., of Eva, TN.

Ms. Hilt is also survived by two sons: Doug (Ashley) Brockwell Jr. of New Concord, KY and Adam (Christian) Brockwell of Paris, TN; two sisters: Kathie Hilt of Paris, TN and Toni (Danny) Brockwell of McKenzie, TN; a brother, Steve (Sarah) Hilt of Puryear, TN; and five grandchildren: Chloe, Aiden, and Aubrey Brockwell, Isabel Williams, and Daisy Brockwell.

Besides her parents, she was also preceded in death by two brothers: Danny Hilt and Chuck Hilt.

Tina Hilt formerly worked at Carey Counseling Center in Paris and the Department of Children's Services in Murray, KY.

James Elkins

James M. Elkins, age 49, of Union City, TN formerly of Paris, TN passed away on Thursday July 13, 2017 at his residence. His memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, July 23, 2017 at New Hope Baptist Church, 1380 Clifty Road in Paris conducted by Bro. Glynn Orr. Visitation is scheduled after 1:00 P.M. prior to the memorial service.

James was born on June 18, 1968 in Paris to the late Bobby Ray Elkins and Dorothy Raymer Elkins. He is survived by his son: Charles Andrew Thompson of Spokane, Washington; brothers: Earl Ray Elkins of Paris, Terry Lee Elkins and Allen Elkins, both of Union City; and by numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends. James is also preceded in death by his brother: Jeffrey Lynn Elkins (1998) and by his sister-in-law: Teresa Elkins (March 25, 2017).

Mr. Elkins was a graduate of Henry County High School. He formerly worked in construction and also as a welder. James attended New Hope Baptist Church when he lived in Paris.

E. Ray Stockdale

E. Ray Stockdale of Henry County died July 14, 2017 at his residence.  Visitation will be at 1:00 on Tuesday followed by a memorial service at 2:00 at Ridgeway Funeral Home with Gary Collier officiating.

He was born October 19, 1934 in Benton County to the late James E. and Nona Robbins Stockdale.  His wife of 62 years, Shirley Ann Stockdale survives.

He received his early education in Henry County and graduated from Grove High School in 1952 and Memphis State University in 1961 with a degree in accounting.  He was a proud American who served three years on active duty and eight years in the reserves of the US Naval Air Force.

Stockdale joined Peat Marwick & Mitchell (now KPMG) as a junior accountant in 1961.  He was admitted as Partner in the firm after 10 years.  During his career he was a member of the American Institute of CPAs, Tennessee Society of CPAs, and was a past president of the Memphis Chapter of CPAs and served on the Tennessee State Council.  He also taught accounting and taxation at The University of Tennessee.

He was an Episcopalian and a volunteer for the Memphis Chamber of Commerce and United Way.

Stockdale retired in 1985 and turned his focus to his beloved wife and family.  Being an only child, he cared for his elderly parents.  He also enjoyed playing golf and traveling with Shirley and their friends.

He is also survived by a son, Scott (Debbie) Stockdale of Murfreesboro; a daughter, Penny (Larry) Ingle of Paris and four grandchildren:  Wyatt (Jessica) Stockdale of Murfreesboro; Mitch (Britton) Stockdale of Jackson; and Haleigh Savage of Paris and Jacob Savage, who is currently enlisted with the United States Marine Corp at Parris Island, South Carolina.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to local charities, organizations or churches of your choice.

Edgar Singleton

Corporal Edgar “Ed” Singleton, age 82 of Paris, TN, died Thursday July 13, 2017, at the VA Hospital in Nashville, TN.

He was a Korean War Veteran, having served with the 3rd Infantry Division of the United States Army. Born November 14, 1934, he was the eighth of thirteen children of the late Joseph and the late Mary A. “Bessie” Warmack Singleton.

He was married November 14, 1981, to the former Adele Carla Duncan Jones, who survives, of Paris, TN. A retired carpenter by trade, he enjoyed working on antique cars, gardening, his family – especially the children and his morning coffee at McDonald’s.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Eddie Gene Singleton.

Along with his wife, he is survived by three sons, Tony L. Singleton of Fresno, California, David E. Singleton of Almo, KY, and Bobby J. (Rebecca) Singleton of Puryear, TN; a step-son, Michael S. Graves of Jackson, TN; a step daughter, Theresa A. “Traci” Jones of Paris, TN; 10 grandchildren: Savannah L. Walters of Benton, IL, Morgan M. Singleton of Fresno, CA, Jordyn T. Singleton of Charlottesville, VA, David J. “Jordan” Singleton of Almo, KY, Jessica M. (Leanne) Biggs of Paris, TN, Amelia G. Singleton of Puryear, TN, Matthew W. (Amber Larson) Jones, Stephanie L. Farmer, Mary A. Jones and Joseph W. Jones all of Paris, TN; seven great grandchildren, Anthony, Zoey and Macy Elliott of Benton, IL, Kendall G. Singleton and Karter M. Singleton of Clarksville, TN, and Mason S. Farmer and Gauge L. Farmer of Paris, TN, and special friends Austin Willoughby and Chris “Mex” Olvera.

Barbara Jean Collums, age 74 of Springville, TN, died Tuesday, July 11, 2017, at St. Thomas West Hospital in Nashville, TN.

 

She retired from Dana Corporation after several years of work.  She attended Russwood Baptist Church and Point Pleasant Baptist Church.  She enjoyed gardening, quilting, and puzzles.

 

Barbara Jean was born October 1, 1942, in Luxora, AR, to the late John Davis LaCombs and the late Lela Childress LaCombs. 

 

She was married October 2, 1964, to Art L. Collums, who preceded her in death on March 2, 2002.

 

She is survived by four sons, Greg (Mary Anne) Collums of Mansfield, TN, Larry (Kim) Collums of Springville, TN, Barry Collums of Springville, TN, and Mike (Karen) Malone of Helena, AL; one sister, Elizabeth Carmen of Memphis, TN; six grandchildren, Kristina Malone, Rachel Schepps, David Cole, Kristofer Collums, Courtland Collums, and Josh Collums; and eight great grandchildren.

 

Along with her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by two sisters.

 

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St, Paris, TN, where visitation will be Saturday, July 15, 2017 from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm, with the funeral service at 12:00 pm at LeDon Chapel of Ridgeway Funeral Home, with Bobby Campbell officiating.

 

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.  

Burial will follow in Point Pleasant Cemetery in Buchanan, TN.   

Mary Wilkins

Mrs. Mary Lavern Alexander Wilkins, 96, of Paris died Thursday, July 6, 2017, at her residence.

Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, July 15, 2017, at Rawls Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. M.A. Richardson officiating.

She was born on March 12, 1921, to the late Arthur and Gladys Phelps Alexander in Como, Tennessee.

She was married to the late Rodger Wilkins. She was a homemaker that loved working in her flower garden. Mary loved spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by her daughters, Gladys Long and Marilyn Alexander both of Paris, TN and Velma Reid of Detroit, MI; eleven grandchildren, Marcus Long, Derrick Long,Robert Long, Angela Kendall, Michael Long, Donna Long, Keith Long, Richard Wilkins, Trina Wilkins, Violet Hickey and Eyvette Prichett; three step grandchildren, Bobby Patton, Steve Patton and Anna Eckhart; thirty four great grandchildren; twenty-four great-great grandchildren; a sister, Lola Louise Banks of Paris, TN; a brother, Harold Alexander of New York, NY and a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by three sons, Robert Alexander and Edward Ray Wilkins; and nineteen of her siblings.

Pearlie Litten

Pearlie Fay McKenzie Litten, age 57 of Springville, TN, died Tuesday, July 11, 2017, at St. Thomas West in Nashville, TN.

 

Pearlie was a factory worker for many years before becoming a homemaker. She enjoyed playing video games, especially Super Mario Brothers, game of pool, and cooking.

 

Pearlie was born November 12, 1959, in Mason, MI, to the late Franklin D McKenzie and the late Bethel Barnett McKenzie.

 

She is survived by three daughters, Regina (Eric) Williams of Carrollton, TX, Bobbie (James) Lewis of Orland, IN, and Christy Lee of Latrobe, PA; three sons, Anthony (Kathy) Stamper of Fairmont, GA, Billy Frey of Columbus, OH, and Tyson “Chris” (Jennifer) Neely of Mount Pleasant, PA; one sister, Margaret Jones of Springville, TN; two brothers, Matthew (Lori) McKenzie of Defiance, OH, and Mark (Michelle) McKenzie of Shelby, OH; fourteen grandchildren; Several nieces and nephews.

 

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St, Paris, TN, where Memorial visitation will be Friday, July 14, 2017, from 12:00 pm – 2:00 pm. The Memorial service will be Friday, July 14, 2017, at 2:00 pm at LeDon Chapel of Ridgeway Funeral Home, with Brian Wimberley officiating.

Patricia Nelson

Ms. Patricia Nelson, age 57 of Springville, TN passed away Tuesday, July 11, 2017 at her residence. Her funeral service will be 12:00 PM Saturday, July 15, 2017 at McEvoy Funeral Home with Raymond Eaton of Russwood Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Bevil Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, July 14, 2017 from 4:00-7:00 PM and after 9:00 AM Saturday until service time all at McEvoy Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Randy Nelson, Colin Gurule, Joseph Gurule, Christopher North, Harry Kohler, and Johnathon Kohler.

Patricia Linn Nelson was born June 2, 1960 in Michigan to the late Jerry Franklin Mobley and the late Maude Ann Parks Melton. On March 10, 2003 she married Frank Nelson and he survives in Springville, Tennessee. She is also survived by four daughters: Amy (David) Lesniewicz of Chicago, and Selena (Carl) Berry, Cassie Del Rosario, and Tera DeShields, all of Paris, TN; four sons: James (Magan) North of Big Sandy, TN; Frank Nelson, Jr., of Greenfield, TN; Roger Nelson of Colorado; and Randy (fiancé Amy Rhodes) Nelson of Greenfield, TN; four sisters: Connie (Carl) Edwards of Henry, TN; Stacey Mobley of Paris, TN; Cindy (Jeff) Galindo of Camden, TN; and Samantha Mobley of Paris, TN; three brothers: Randy, Jeff, and Lee Mobley all of Paris, TN; numerous grandchildren; two great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, special friends, and other family members in Mississippi.


In addition to her parents, Patricia was also preceded in death by a son: Michael DeShields; and one sister: Tracey King.

Patricia enjoyed car shows, tanning, boating, and working in her garden. She loved her pets, helping others and most especially spending time with her family.

Donnie Dodd

Donnie Lee Dodd age 66 of Buchanan, Tennessee passed away on Friday July 7, 2017. A private family "Celebration of Life" will be held at a later date.

Donnie was born in Murray, Kentucky on June 13, 1951 to the late Albert Everton Dodd, Sr. and the late Matre Lee Grubbs Dodd. On June 13, 1981 he married Leisa Dunlap Dodd who survives in Buchanan, TN.

Donnie is survived by his daughter: Kendall Mitchell, Buchanan; son: Brandon (Tiffany) Dodd, Buchanan; sister: Lonnie Mitchell, Buchanan; brother: Danny (Diana) Dodd, Buchanan; three grandchildren: Emma Claire Mitchell, Myla Grey Mitchell, and Hayes Everton Berry; sister-in-law: Gayle Dodd, Buchanan; his father and mother-in-law: Richard and Betty Dunlap, Buchanan; sisters-in-law: Patricia (David) Todd, Buchanan, Beverly (Kevin) Ray, Buchanan. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and special friends.

Donnie is also preceded in death by his three brothers: Logan Dodd, Albert E. Dodd, Jr. and Darren Dodd; and by his brother-in-law: Ruel "Mitch" Mitchell. 

Donnie worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 31 years, where he was Post Master for both Big Sandy and Dover. He also worked for the Paris Landing State Park for more than 10 years. He enjoyed small game hunting and annual trips to South Dakota, pheasant hunting with friends and family.

Donnie was assistant coach with the Henry County Scholastic Shooting Sports Team and went on to be an assistant coach at Bethel University. He continued to mentor at Holly Fork Shooting Complex. A family member said that Donnie was a devoted husband, loving father and proud and loving papa. Memorials may be made to Avalon Hospice, 849 Volunteer Drive, Suite 3, Paris, TN 38242

Jo Nell Priddy

Jo Nell Priddy, age 84 of Paris, TN, died Sunday, July 9, 2017, at Henry County Medical Center in Paris, TN.

                                                                          

She was a member of Eastwood Church of Christ.  She retired from Mar-Kel Lighting in Paris, TN.  After retirement, she enjoyed taking care of her two twin granddaughters.  She also loved her flowers and gardening. 

 

Jo Nell was born April 14, 1933, in Paducah, KY, to the late Charlie Hosford and the late Tura Jones Hosford. 

 

She was married July 19, 1952, to Thomas H. “Pat” Priddy, who preceded her in death on February 16, 2014. 

 

She is survived by her son, Tommy (Barbara) Priddy of Paris, TN; twin granddaughters, Shelby Priddy Chapman and husband, Joe of Paris, TN, and Stephanie Priddy of Henry, TN; one great grandchild, Emma Jo Chapman; three sisters, Ruby Macias of Clarksville, TN, Sue Brown of Michigan, and Patsy Hanna of Oregon; one brother, Charles Hosford of Camden, TN; and four sisters-in-law, Mildred Byars, Mary Lee Hosford, and Linda Hosford all of Paris, TN, and Wanda Hosford of California.

 

Along with her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by one sister in infancy, Wanda K. Hosford; and four brothers, Harold Hosford, Gene Hosford, Sammy Hosford and Wayne Hosford.

 

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St, Paris, TN, where visitation will be Tuesday, July 11, 2017, from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm, and continue Wednesday, July 12, 2017, from 12:00 pm – 2:00 pm.  The funeral service will be Wednesday, July 12, 2017, at 2:00 pm at LeDon Chapel of Ridgeway Funeral Home, with Corey Sawyers officiating.

 

Pallbearers will be Dale Hosford, Mike Hosford, Ray Macias, Andy Macias, Tony Macias, and Tom Kinsland.

 

Burial will follow in Walker Cemetery in Paris, TN.   

Peggy McDaniel

Peggy Weaks McDaniel, age 73 of Paris, TN, died Friday, July 7, 2017.

She worked as a beautician for many years in Puryear, TN.  Her true passion was being an LPN at McKenzie Medical Center where she worked for Dr. Winkler.   She truly loved her job there.   She enjoyed quilting and gardening, and was always very active, even running in 5K races.  She was very creative and a hard worker, who was always a perfectionist.  She was Baptist.  

Peggy was born April 17, 1944, in Paris, TN, to the late Hallie Howard Weaks and the late Ona Mai Wilson Weaks Pflueger.

She was married April 12, 2007 to David A. McDaniel, who survives, of Paris, TN.  She is also survived by her five children, Julie (James) Taylor of Jackson, TN, Shane (Monica) Paschall of Milan, TN, Heather (Dale) Fair of Paris, TN, Matt McDaniel of Paris, TN, and Megan McDaniel of Toone, TN; one sister, Robbie French of Paris, TN; 10 grandchildren, Blake Spurgeon, Shelby Spurgeon, Matt Spurgeon, Drew Taylor, Alli Paschall, Luke Paschall, Dylan Thomas, Emma Grace Thomas, Brittney McDaniel, and Dylan Fair; and a mother-in-law, Marilyn (Gary) Deaton of Jackson, TN.

Besides her parents, Peggy was also preceded in death by one sister, Earlene Chambers; and one brother, Thomas Howard Weaks.

Pallbearers will be Dr. Volker Winkler, Mike Troxler, Gary Deaton, John Dale French, Dr. Matthew Hughes, and Ricky Orr.

Burial will follow in Memorial Cemetery in Paris, TN.

Mai Woody Tant

Mai Woody Tant, 61, of Newburgh, Indiana, died on Wednesday, July 5, 2017, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born September 26, 1955, and grew up in Milan, Tennessee where she graduated from Milan High School in 1973.

She was a fun-loving, friendly person who always had a smile on her face and a song in her heart! She was an avid Alabama football fan. Mai graduated from the Methodist Hospital School of Nursing, Memphis, Tennessee, in 1975. There she was loved by her classmates and won the Florence Nightingale Award.

Her nursing career spanned 40 years. She began at LeBonheur Children's Hospital. She loved children and her first nursing job. Mai worked with the Shelby County and the Gibson County Health Departments, both in Tennessee. She was also a nurse for the Richmond County Health Department in Augusta, Georgia. She worked at the Milan Hospital in Milan, Tennessee, and was a school nurse for Washington Middle School in Evansville, Indiana for 15 years. Mai also worked as an after-hours pediatric phone nurse for Deaconess Hospital in Newburgh, Indiana for 6 years. It was her lifelong desire to be a nurse, and she fulfilled that role in many capacities.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Becky and William Woody, both of Milan, Tennessee; and her father-in-law, Rev. Robert Tant, Sr. of Gadsden, Alabama.

Mai leaves her husband of 27 years, Rob Tant; and her son, Christian Harris Tant, both of Newburgh, Indiana; mother-in-law, Mrs. Becky Tant of Gadsden, Alabama; sisters, Suzanne Vance of Oregon and Frankie Woody Shoaf (Hedrick) of Medina, Tennessee; brother, Marvin Woody (Pat) of Edmond, Oklahoma; nephews, Brent Hendricks of Arkansas, Parker Bedwell of Selmer, Tennessee, Alex Woody of Columbus, Ohio, Nathan Woody of Seattle, Washington, Richard Tant, Jr. and Austin Tant of Phenix City, Alabama; nieces, Anna Grace Bedwell of Selmer, Tennessee, and Emma Shoaf of Nashville, Tennessee.

Funeral Services will be held at 5:00 PM Sunday, July 9, 2017, at Alexander Newburgh Chapel officiated by Rev. Chris Nunley. Friends may visit 2:00 PM until service time on Sunday at the funeral home. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, July 10, 2017, at Walker Cemetery in Paris, Tennessee officiated by Rev. Doy Daniels.

Josh Hubbard

Joshua Alan “Josh” Hubbard, age 36, died Thursday, June 29, 2017, in Paris from injuries sustained in a car accident.

Born April 8, 1981, in Nashville, TN, he was the son of Steve Hubbard of Buchanan and the late Karen Thompson Hubbard.

Josh was currently working at the Loft Wine and Spirits in Paris. He enjoyed listening to music, watching sports and playing the guitar.

Along with his father, survivors include his grandfather: Dudley Hubbard and several aunts and uncles.

His body is to be cremated with a memorial service to be planned at a later date.

James T. McCaslin, Sr.

Mr. James T. McCaslin Sr., age 78 of Paris passed away Wednesday, July 5, 2017 at Henry County Medical Center. His body is to be cremated and a graveside service will be held later with burial of cremated remains.

James T. McCaslin was born June 10, 1939 in Paris, Tennessee to the late Tillie Tyree McCaslin and the late Lillian Alberta Terry McCaslin. On June 8, 1957 he married Pat McNutt McCaslin who survives in Paris, TN. James is also survived by one daughter: Sheliah (Keith) Watkins of Paris and one son: Ty (Deborah) McCaslin of Paris; one sister: Terryalin (Kenneth) Chapman of Tulsa, OK; four grandchildren: Jesse McCaslin of Lebanon, TN; Josh (Heather) McCaslin of Paris; Keith Brown of Paris; and Justin (Krystal) Watkins of Paris; six great grandchildren: Kaylee, Kinley and Camilla McCaslin; and Abbey, Amelia, and Audrey Watkins; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to Mr. McCaslin's parents, he was also preceded in death by a sister: Bertie Lou Biddle; and two great grandchildren: Karla Marie Brown and Kayla Luann Brown.

Mr. McCaslin was a member of the McDonald's Breakfast Club. He got his first motorcycle when he was 14 years old and he has been riding one ever since.

Edward James "Ed" Caldwell, Jr.

Edward James “Ed” Caldwell, Jr., age 57 of Paris, TN, died Thursday, July 6, 2017, at his residence in Paris, TN.

He was a U.S. Army Veteran and enjoyed watching wildlife.  He was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church

Ed was born October 11, 1959, in Independence, MO, to the late Edward James Caldwell, Sr., and the late Willa Margaret Voyer Caldwell.

He was married May 2, 1981, to Karen Huggins Caldwell, who survives, of Paris, TN.   Along with his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Virginia (Marc) Maltby of O’Fallen, IL, and Angela (David) Renollet of Illinois; one son, Eddie (Maddie) Caldwell of Illinois; four sisters, Margaret (Gary) Boak of Katy, TX, Linda (Steve) Kelpe of Katy, TX, Carolyn (Murry) Cathlyna of Flower Mound, TX, and Kay and husband Joe ;  two brothers, George (Pam) Caldwell of Richmond, TX, and Larry (Kathy) Caldwell of Kansas City, MO; nine grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by one brother, Butch Caldwell.  

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St, Paris, TN.  The body is to be cremated with no services planned at this time.

Willie Pace

Willie Franklin Pace, 61 of Clarksville, TN passed away on Monday, July 3, 2017 at his residence. He was born July 28, 1955 in Granite City, IL son of the late Elbert and Evelyn Stack Pace. Mr. Pace worked for Kerr Lake Marine, NC, and was a retired U.S. Army Sergeant. Survivors include his sons, Willie Foster Pace, Greenville, IL, Stephen Wayne Pace, Paris, TN, Joshua Jordan Pace, Paris, TN, daughter, Christina Caren Pace, McKenzie, TN, brothers, Jimmy Pace, Clarksville, TN, Larry Pace, Hazel, KY, Roger Pace, Greenville, IL, Terry Pace, McEwen, TN, Marty Pace, Pennsylvania, Billy Pace, Taylorville, IL, Bobby Pace, St. Louis, MO, Rex Pace, Paris, TN and eight grandchildren. 

Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 8, 2017 from 9:00 am until 11:00 am at Anglin Funeral Home in Dover, with the funeral service immediately following at 11:00 am. Burial will follow in the Pugh Flat Cemetery, Ky. Friends and family will serve as pallbearers. Arrangements have been entrusted to Anglin Funeral Home.

Rosemary Thompson

Ms. Rosemary Thompson, age 64 of Paris, Tennessee passed away Saturday, July 1, 2017 at Allegiance Hospice Home in Jackson, Michigan. Her visitation with the family will be from 11:00AM until 4:00PM Saturday, July 8, 2017 at McEvoy Funeral Home. Cremation will follow visitation and no service is scheduled.

Rosemary Thompson was born August 16, 1952 in Detroit, Michigan to the late Edward Joseph DuFour and the late Rose Anne Stella DuFour. On July 1, 1972 she married Robert G. Thompson who preceded her in death on December 31, 2003.

Ms. Thompson is survived by six sons: Tommy (Maureen) Thompson of Paris; Christopher (Jessica) Thompson of Buchanan; Austin (Breanna) Thompson of Puryear; Robert (Terri) Thompson of Charleston, SC; Bradley (Penny) Thompson of Grand Rapids, MI; and Eric (Jill) Thompson of Rock, MI; one daughter: Diana Thompson of Romulus, MI; two sisters: Dorothy Schoolmaster of Ypsilanti, MI and Anita (Nelson) Amrhein of Grass Lake, MI; numerous grandchildren including: Gary Edward Thompson, Jr., Houston Beck Thompson, Sophia Roseanne Thompson, Thomas Richard Thompson, Jr., Aaron Glen Thompson, Nathan Christopher Thompson, Carlie Ann Thompson, and Mason Christopher Thompson; and numerous great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Ms. Thompson was also preceded in death by a daughter: Rebecca Lynn Thompson; a son: Gary E. Thompson; and two sisters: Toni Taylor and Ginny DuFour.

Rosemary Thompson formerly worked at Shoney's, Tom's Pizza, and Wal-Mart, all in Paris.
