Diane Rathof

Diane Joan Rathof age 71, of Paris died Saturday, January 28, 2017, at the Paris Health Care and Rehabilitation Center.  She is survived by her husband of 37 years, Frederick “Fritz” Rathof of Paris.

Diane formerly was a waitress at Eaker’s Café. She was of Native American descent with family ties to the Cherokee Tribe. Riding motorcycles together with her husband was a past hobby of hers.

Born August 20, 1945, in Philadelphia, PA, She was the daughter of the late Joseph Gaffney and Bernadette Gaffney who lives in Philadelphia, PA.

In addition to her husband and mother, survivors include: two sons: Michael (Kim) Forstater of Staton Island, NY and Brian Forstater of Wildwood, NY;  nine step children: Frederick “Fred” Rathof of Philadelphia, PA, Thomas (Rose) Rathof of Mickleton, NJ, Elizabeth (Dennis) LaDonne of PIlesgrove, NJ, Mary Rathof of Myrtle Beach, SC, Lois (Steve) Jingleski of Woodstown, NJ, Theresa Bross of Lakeland, FL, Jimmy (Angelica) Rathof of Swedesboro, NJ, Eric (Heather) Rathof of Carneys Point, NJ and Laura (Bruce) Hahn of Mullica Hill, NJ. Two Sisters: Bernadette (Mike) Dean of Gaithersburg, MD and Mary Ellen Kane of Philadelphia, PA; a brother: Joseph Gaffney, Jr. of Voorhees, NJ; 24 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren.

Along with her father, she was preceded in death by a brother: William Gaffney and a step son: Karl Rathof.

Her body is to be cremated.

Gaynelle Gateley

Mrs. Gaynelle Gateley, age 76 of Paris, formerly of Nashville, passed away Friday, January 27, 2017 at Paris Healthcare Center. Her body is to be cremated and no services are scheduled at this time.

Gaynelle Gateley was born January 26, 1941 to the late Thomas Gateley and the late Thelma Bruce Gateley. She was also preceded in death by a cousin, Jimmie Bruce in 2010.  She was the granddaughter of the late Comus and Lottie Bruce.

Mrs. Gateley is survived by a cousin, Jack (Terri) Bruce of Paris, Tennessee.

Brian D. Lyle

Former Henry Countian, Brian D. Lyle, age 47, of Rives, TN, died Thursday, January 26, 2017, at Henry County Medical Center in Paris, TN.

Brian loved bowling in the Special Olympics.  He was an avid movie collector, and loved every holiday.

Brian was born February 21, 1969, in Murray, KY, to the late Robert Lynn Lyle, and Brenda Randolph Alexander of Puryear, TN, who survives.

Along with his mother, he is survived by one sister, Robin Sinclair and friend Jamie Paschall of Puryear, TN; two brothers, Cody Alexander of Puryear, TN, and Shaun Newcomb of Carlyle, IL; grandparents, Rodger & Ruby Randolph of Centralia, IL; two uncles, Mike (Linda) Lyle of Frazier, CO, and Greg (Kim) Randolph of Centralia, IL; nine nieces and nephews; best friend, Brian Drushal; and his hero, Dr. Jason L. Harper of Paris, TN.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, John D. & Alberta Lyle.

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St. -P.O. Box 788, Paris, Tenn., where the visitation will be from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM Wednesday, February 1, 2017.  A Celebration of Life will be held at 7:00 PM Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at LeDon Chapel of Ridgeway Funeral Home, with Chad Kennedy officiating.

Cremation will follow the celebration of life service. 

Donald "Don" Edward Hart

Donald Edward “Don” Hart, age 88, of Puryear, TN, died Thursday, January 26, 2017, in Puryear, TN. 

Don was a member of Grace Baptist Church where he formerly served as Pastor.  His number one objective in life was to preach about the Lord.   He was a former commercial fisherman and he loved hunting, fishing, and gardening.

Don was born January 19, 1929, in Paris, TN, to the late Eddie Bunyan Hart and the late Aleur Eron Barnhill Hart.

He was married on June 22, 1954, to Morine Melton Hart and she preceded in death on January 14, 2013. 

He is survived by his one daughter,  Debra (Frank) Hart-Crutcher of Puryear, TN; two sons, Danny E. (Deborah) Hart of Puryear, TN, and Ranny E. (Stephanie Ross) Hart of Buchanan, TN; one sister, Francis Hart of Puryear, TN; grandchildren, Josh (Keri) Paschall, Shannon (Terry) Slaughter, Gina (Tom) Thornton, Selina (Mark) Rowland, and Danny (Jamie) Hart II; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.

Besides his wife and parents, Don was also preceded in death by a son, Jimmy Hart; sisters, Elsie Freeman, Ruby Carrington, Ida May Jones, Eddie Lee Rogers, Flora Garner, and Sue Aaron Buie; brother, Andrew Franklin Hart; and a grandchild, Leeta Hart.

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St. -P.O. Box 788, Paris, Tenn., where the visitation will be from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM Saturday, January 28, 2017 and from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM Sunday, January 29, 2017. The funeral service will be at LeDon Chapel of Ridgeway Funeral Home at 2:00 PM Sunday, January 29, 2017, with Jack Thacker officiating.

Serving as pallbearers will be Jay Jackson, Ronnie Burnette, Shannon Slaughter, Danny Hart II, Mark Rowland, and Tom Thornton.

Interment will be in Bevil Cemetery in Paris, Tenn.

John P. "Jack" Thompson

John P. "Jack" Thompson, age 91 of Springville, TN passed away Tuesday, January 24, 2017 at the Tennessee State Veteran's Home in Clarksville, TN.

Funeral service 11:00AM Friday, January 27, 2017 at McEvoy Funeral Home with Gary S. Collier officiating, burial will follow at Birds Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.

Named as pallbearers are Kimberly Oberkirsch, James D. Oberkirsch, Benjamin Sutton and James Waddel.

Visitation 9:00AM Friday until service time.

He was born September 15, 1925 in Paris, TN to the late John Porter Thompson and Mary E. Hartsfield Thompson. On December 15, 2000 he married Judith Hall Thompson, she survives Springville, TN.  He was preceded by his first wife: Bettie Bennett Thompson, April 22, 1998.

Survived by daughters: Jacquline Wagner, Camden, TN, Judy Lee (Michael) Toombs, Nevada, Beth Macko, Nashville, TN, Betty (Steve) Kuykendall, Paris, TN; grandchildren: seven; great-grandchildren: four; cousins: John (Harriet) Ross, Savannah, TN, Mary Jane Thompson (Richard) King, Paris, TN.

John P. “Jack” Thompson spent the better part of his life in the service of his country and regularly presented the flag to families of deceased veterans during the funeral flag ceremony.

He fought in three wars: WWII, Korea and Vietnam with both the U.S. Marine Corps and the U.S. Army.

His military career began with entering the Junior Military Academy in Bloomington Springs, TN. He graduated from Columbia Military Academy in 1943. He was appointed to the Naval Training Center at Brainbridge, MD, transferred to the Navy yards at Washington, D.C. and was assigned to security of the yards and served on the sea-going crew of President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s presidential yacht in the sea-going detachment.

Jack was reassigned to Camp Lejeune, NC and served in the Pacific Theater with the 6th Marine Division arriving in Okinawa April 1945. He was wounded there while serving with the machine gun section of Company I and was sent to Guam to recover and there received the Purple Heart for wounds received in action.

He transferred to the inactive reserve in 1946 later receiving a recommendation from his colonel that he apply to officer’s candidate school (OCS).   Discharged from the Marine Reserve on May 9, 1949 and the next day enlisted in the U.S. Army and was sent to Fort Riley, Kansas for OCS. After 13 weeks he left the program and was transferred to the headquarters of the 2nd Infantry Division, Aviation Section.

He was sent to Korea August 1950 and after traveling to North Korea and back to South Korea to Camp Wejonbu he was promoted to staff Sergeant, returning to the states in 1951.   In 1965 he attained the rank of sergeant first class, later receiving orders for Vietnam in 1967. He returned to Fort Campbell to form the 61st helicopter Company air assault, as operations sergeant. Going to Quinyon, Vietnam and while there was promoted to master sergeant.   In 1968 he returned to Fort Rucker, Alabama to the Airfield Command as acting senior non-commissioned officer in charge, later retiring from the military in 1970.

He retired in 1995 as the Paris Police Department’s parking officer.

Jack was a lifetime member of the American Legion, VFW, AMVETS, the Retired Enlisted Association, Disabled American Veterans, 6th Marine Corps League and the Non-Commissioned Officer Association.

Stephen Mapes

Stephen Michael Mapes, age 40 of Chattanooga, formerly of Paris, passed away Saturday, January 21, 2017 at his residence. His funeral service will be at 3:00 PM Saturday, January 28, 2017 at McEvoy Funeral Home with Pastor Pamela Hughes of Lakeside Christian Fellowship officiating. Burial will follow at Antioch United Methodist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 PM Friday, January 27, 2017 and after 1:00 PM Saturday. Pallbearers will be Michael Roberts, Lindre Herbert, Harold Bagwell, Mark Matlick, Josh Knott, and Leland Jones. Honorary Pallbearers will be James Morrow, Jessica Mapes Morrow, and Mark Matlick.

Stephen Michael Mapes was born September 9, 1976 in Murray, Kentucky to Wesley Mapes and Jeanie Matlick Mapes, both of Springville, Tennessee. Besides his parents, he is also survived by a daughter, Nytalia Mapes of Zionsville, Indiana; one sister, Jessica (James) Morrow of Bandana, Kentucky; one maternal grandparent, Mary Ellen Wright of Atlanta, GA; one aunt, Susan Matlick of Atlanta, GA; and five uncles, Mark Matlick of Oakland, TN, Robert Mapes of Buchanan, TN, Robert Wright of Atlanta, GA, Ron Wright of Lavonia, GA, and Mark Anthony (Candace) Wright of LaPort, IN.

Stephen was a big University of Tennessee fan, a Chicago Cub fan, and he loved his dogs. 

Waymon Tharpe Jr.

Waymon Tharpe, Jr. age 57 of Paris, TN, passed away Saturday, January 21, 2017 at the Jackson Madison County General Hospital in Jackson, TN.

Memorial service 3:00PM Friday, January 27, 2017 at McEvoy Funeral Home with Gene Fowler officiating.

Visitation 2:00PM Friday until time of service at 3:00PM.

He was born October 17, 1959 in Paris, TN to the late Waymon Tharpe, Sr. and Lula Bowden Tharpe.  On November 22, 2001 he married Cynthia Taylor Tharpe, she survives Paris, TN.

Survived by daughters: Zanyetta Tharpe, Joliet, IL, Lorecia Tharpe, Nashville, TN, Narivera Tharpe, Clarksville, TN, Jadah Jordan, CA; sons: Andre Tharpe, Chicago, IL, Waymon Marquis Tharpe, Chicago, IL, Kentrall Tharpe, McKenzie, TN, Waymon Rasheed Tharpe, Nashville, TN, Qadree Tharpe, Nashville, TN, Quincy Buckley Tharpe, Crossroads, TN, Deonne Lorico Tharpe, Paris, TN; sisters: Kathleen Porter, Paris, TN, Carolyn Jean Mosley, Clarksville, TN; brothers: Ricky L. Tharpe, Huntingdon, TN; numerous grandchildren and  great-grandchildren.

Preceded by brothers: Charlie Porter, Jr., Curtis Lee Tharpe; sister-in-law: Ruby L. Tharpe and a nephew: Jason L. Tharpe, 2016.

Waymon was dearly loved by his family and a family member said that he will be deeply missed.

Eva Nell James

Mrs. Eva Nell James, age 95 of Paris passed away Monday, January 23, 2017 at Paris Healthcare Center. Her funeral service will be at 1:00 PM Thursday, January 26, 2017 at McEvoy Funeral Home with burial to follow at Birds Creek Cemetery in Whitlock. Glynn Orr will officiate. Visitation will be after 11:00 AM Thursday prior to the service. Pallbearers will be her grandsons and great grandsons. Honorary pallbearer will be Larry Nichols.

Eva Nell Linn James was born June 14, 1921 in Kentucky to the late Thomas Carr Linn and the late Bessie Flood Linn. On December 24, 1938 she married Gordon C. James and he preceded her in death on June 3, 1997. She was also preceded in death by four sisters, Hester Mae Linn, Mary Farley, Winnie Sue Ortiz, and Dorothy Irby; two brothers, Orel Linn and Hoyt Linn; and one daughter-in-law, Sharon James who passed away in 2015.

Eva Nell James is survived by a daughter, Sondra (Hal) Rice of Murray, KY; two sons, Milton (Glenda) James and Kenneth James both of Paris, TN; three grandchildren, Rod (Angela) James of Paris, TN, Scott Rice of Nashville, TN, and Russ (Felicia) James of Murfreesboro, TN; and four great grandchildren, Kaitlyn Beth James and Drew Landon James of Paris, TN and Kenzie James and Gavin James of Murfreesboro, TN.

Mrs. James was affectionately known and loved as "Mama Nell" to her family and friends. She was a longtime member of Birds Creek Baptist Church where she served faithfully as a member of the choir. Mama Nell was blessed with the gift of music and often sang specials during worship services. She loved her church and taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School for many years. She was also known to be an excellent seamstress who sewed for her family and the Whitlock community.

Wanda Bomar French

Wanda French, age 66 of Paris passed away Sunday, January 22, 2017 at Paris Healthcare Center. Her body is to be cremated and her memorial service will be Wednesday at 5:00 PM January 25, 2017 at McEvoy Funeral Home with Dr. John Smith of Fairview Baptist Church officiating. Visitation will begin at 3:00 PM Wednesday and continue until service time at 5:00.

Wanda Bomar French was born June 9, 1950 in Paris, Tennessee to the late Bobby Bomar and the late Dorothy Simmons Bomar. On September 6, 1969 she married Charles French who survives in Paris, Tennessee. She is also survived by two sons, Chad (Ginger) French of Jackson, TN and Todd (Bonnie) French of Paris, TN; one sister, Brenda (Ronnie) Conger of Paris, TN; four grandchildren, Anderson French, Avery Jo French, Blake Milliken, and Ella French; two nieces, Christa (Andy) Tyler and Casey (Jeremiah) Cole; two great nephews, Cody Parrish and Jacob Cole, one great niece, Jacey Cole and a step-mother, Edith Bomar of Paris, TN.

Wanda was a local beautician who was co-owner of the Hairshoppe in Paris. She was a member of Fairview Baptist Church and she loved spending time with her grandchildren.

Jimmy D. Hainley

Jimmy D. Hainley, age 73, of Springville, TN, died Friday, January 20, 2017, at his residence in Springville, TN. 

Jimmy retired as a telephone technician from Bellsouth with 30 years of service.  He was a former member of the Tennessee National Guard.  He attended Springville Church of Christ, and was an avid fisherman.

He was born April 25, 1943, in Springville, TN, to the late Wright Hainley and the late Bessie Hainline Hainley.

Jimmy was married March 3, 1983, to Jinelle Wallace Hainley, who survives. 

In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Tamara Realini of Columbia, TN; one son, Barry (Robin) Hainley of Paris, TN; one step-daughter, Angie (Larry) Pennington of Paris, TN; one step-son, Tony (Diana) Miles of Paris, TN; one sister, Lois Smith of Kirksey, KY; one brother, Tom (Madona) Hainley of Springville, TN; one grandson and best friend, Gage Hainley; four step-grandchildren, Linzy (Scott) Smith, Jazmine (Collins) Wiles, Neaveh Miles, and Brandon Miles; and a special companion, his black lab, Frankie.  

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters, Opal Pritchett, Allie Mae Smith, Georgia Howard, and Ardell Davis; and two brothers, Huey and Jack Hainley.

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St, Paris, TN, where visitation will be Sunday, January 22, 2017 from 4 p.m. – 7 p.m., and Monday, January 23, 2017, from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. at Ridgeway Funeral Home.  The funeral service will be Monday, January 23, 2017, at 1:00 pm at LeDon Chapel of Ridgeway Funeral Home, with Charles T. Cate officiating.

Jeffery Underwood

Jeffery Dale “Jeff” Underwood, age 62, of Henry, TN, died Friday, January 20, 2017, at his residence in Henry, TN.

Jeff was a truck driver for over 30 years for Kesterson Food Company.  He was a longtime member of Bethlehem Baptist Church and had recently attended New Harmony Baptist Church.  He also loved spending time with his grandchildren.

He was born November 1, 1954, in Evansville, IN, to the late Ruth Peale Dunn and William T. Dunn of Paris, TN, who survives.

In addition to his father, he is survived by one son, Chris (Mistie) Underwood of Paris, TN; one sister, Dawn Underwood of Paris, TN; two grandchildren, Jamie Underwood of Paris, TN and Cody Underwood of Paris, TN; one nephew, Greg Brooks of Paris, TN; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St, Paris, TN, where visitation will be Sunday, January 22, 2017 from 12 p.m. – 2 p.m. at Ridgeway Funeral Home, with the funeral service at 2:00 pm at LeDon Chapel of Ridgeway Funeral Home.

John Sutton and Mike Wimberley will officiate.  Serving as pallbearers are Milton Peale, Randy Peale, Bryant Peale, Don Peale, Jerry Peale & George Drye.

Burial will be in Bethlehem Cemetery in Henry, TN.

Brenda Lynn Clary

Brenda Lynn Clary, age 56 of Paris, TN passed away Friday, January 20, 2017 at Select Specialty Hospital in Nashville, TN. 

Funeral service 2:00PM Sunday, January 22, 2017 at McEvoy Funeral Home with Cliff Evans and Melvin Doughty officiating, burial will follow at Walker Cemetery.

Her family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation 12:00PM Sunday until service time.

She was born April 6, 1960 in Paris, TN to the late Emmett Clary, preceded 1983 and Willie B. Clary, she survives, Paris, TN.

Survived by sisters: Kay (Gene) McCre, Rives, TN, Sue (Dwayne) Craig, Buchanan, TN, Fay Clary-Ward, Paris, TN; brothers: Landy Clary, Nashville, TN, Lewis (Grace Lankford) Clary, Paris, TN, Henry Clary, Paris, TN; Nieces: Amanda Alexander, Deondra White, Nicole Alexander, Anya Bolden, Jade Alexander, Danni Clary, Haleigh Clary, Crystal Denton; Nephews: Duston Ward, Wrangler Ward, Cody Craig, Dylan Clary, several great nieces and great nephews.

Brenda was a member of West Paris Baptist Church. She was a Henry County High School graduate, who attended Murray State University and Miller Hawkins Business College in Memphis. She was a certified nursing assistant who enjoyed caring for people. Brenda was also a Girl Scout, dearly loved her family, especially her nieces and nephews. Brenda had a very caring and giving heart and found it difficult to ever say no to anyone.

Virgina Maly

Mrs. Virginia Maly, age 91 of Paris, passed away Thursday, January 19, 2017 at her residence. Her body is to be cremated and no services are scheduled at this time.

Virginia Johnson Maly was born on December 17, 1925 to the late Burl Johnson and the late Nettie Hughes Johnson. On September 27, 1962, she married James Maly and he preceded her in death on March 19, 1993. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Amick and Joyce Sills; three brothers Owen, Arthur, and Howard Johnson; and one great grandchild.

Mrs. Virginia Maly is survived by three daughters, Carol Roberts of Michigan City, IN, Jan (Bryan) Wilson of Paris, TN, and Jennifer (Sandy) Minnis of Springville, TN; two sons, Robert (Mattie) Strouss of Alma, AR and John Strouss of Mt. Holly, NC; one sister, Roberta Johnson of Denver, CO; three brothers, Lonis Johnson of Pontotoc, MS, Glen (Mary) Johnson of West Virginia, and Robert Johnson of Van Buren, AR; nine grandchildren; Eight great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.

Jean McCadams

Jean Gray McCadams, 91, of Paris died Monday, January 16 at Paris Healthcare. Visitation will be at McKenzie Funeral Home from noon until 1:30 PM on Thursday with a graveside service at 2 pm at Shiloh Cemetery in McKenzie. She was born November 26, 1925 in McKenzie to the late Bo Bo and Imogene Montgomery. She was a member of Paris First United Methodist Church. Locally she leaves a son Steve (Linda) McCadams of Paris and Kevin (Aundrea) McCadams of Charlotte, NC. She was preceded in by her husband Doug McCadams. Odell Teague

Mr. Odell Teague age 66 of Memphis, TN formerly of Paris passed away Friday January 13, 2017 at the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville, TN.

Funeral service 1:00PM Saturday January 21, 2017 at McEvoy Funeral Home with Bro. Thomas Teague of Evergreen Baptist Church, Springville, TN officiating, burial will follow at New Hope Cemetery in Mansfield, TN.

Named as pallbearers are Darrell Teague, David Teague, John Teague, Calous McCutcheon, Dale L. Teague and James Armstrong.

He was born December 1, 1950 in Paris, TN to the late Rodger Teague, preceded 1982 and Alma L. Teague, preceded 2007.

Odell was the family comedian and loved to make everyone laugh. He collected and loved to wear many hats and tennis shoes. He enjoyed most of all his profession of working and landscaping yards. Repass will be held following burial at the Lafayette Room of Paris Inn and Suites, 1297 E. Wood Street, Paris, Tennessee. It has been requested by the family that all food may be taken to this location and that all flowers and gifts be sent to the funeral home.

Dale McBride

Stanley Dale McBride, age 60 of Routon, TN, died Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at the Weakley County Rehab and Nursing Center after a battle with cancer.

Dale was saved at age 14 and was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church. He was a farmer for many years.

Born March 8, 1956, in Paris, TN, Dale was the son of the late Ollie Stanley McBride and Velma Paschall McBride of Henry, TN.

In addition to his mother, survivors include three brothers, Mark (Carol) McBride of Beech Grove, TN,  David (Janie) McBride of Greenfield, TN, and Danny (Diana) McBride of Paris, TN;  one sister, Vicki (Roger) Galey of Greenfield, TN; six nephews, Matthew (Amanda) McBride of Beech Grove, Andrew (Katie) McBride of Nashville, TN, Stephen McBride of Winchester, TN, Derek Galey of Greenfield, TN, T.J. Davis of Bradford, TN, and Bradley (Dareth) Davis of Huntingdon, TN; 3 nieces, Amber McBride of McKenzie, TN, Victoria Galey of Greenfield, TN, and Terri (William) Bodkins of Murfreesboro, TN; one great niece, Meredith McBride;  one aunt, Shirley (Doug) Braden, and cousins, Kim (Michael) Denman, and Nelson and Braden Clare Denman all of Henry, TN.

Along with his father, he was preceded in death by grandparents, Ollie and Frances McBride, and Dudley and Ira Paschall; uncles, Larry and Chuck Paschall; nieces, Tiffany McBride and Lex Ann McBride Galey.

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St, Paris, TN.  Visitation will be Thursday from 10am – 1 pm at Ridgeway Funeral Home with a funeral service at 1:00 pm at LeDon Chapel of Ridgeway Funeral Home with Mark McBride officiating.    Family and Friends will serve as pallbearers.   Al Beecham and Billy Jo Hamlin are named as honorary pallbearers.

Linda Cherry

Linda Scarbrough Cherry, 66, of Henry, TN died Saturday January 14, 2017, at her residence.

Born July 20, 1950, in Paris, she was the daughter of late Dave Scarbrough and Edith Robinson Bomar of Paris. Linda married Joseph Cherry June 14, 1968 and he survives.

 Mrs. Linda, as she was referred to by many children, retired as the secretary of Inman Middle School in 2015. She formerly worked at Atkins Porter School and Peebles. She was a member of First United Methodist Church.

In addition to her mother and husband, she is also survived by three children: Marsha (Joey) Taylor of Paris, Suzy (Adam) Yost of Nashville, TN and Joe (Marcy) Cherry of Huntsville, AL.

Additional survivors include 10 grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Ridgeway Funeral Home is handling her arrangements. Visitation will be held Monday, January 16, 2017, at the funeral home from 4 until 7 pm and continue on Tuesday, January 17, 2017 from 12 pm until 1:30 pm.  Her graveside service will be held Tuesday January 17, 2017 at 2 pm at Rose Lawn Memory Garden.

Pallbearers for the service are Danny Veazey, Josh Hendrix, Bob Markum, Emory Bradley, Brian Webb and Joey Brush.

The family has requested that memorials be made to the PSSD Family Enrichment Center, the “backpack program” 1219 Hwy 641 S, Paris, TN 38242

Francis Lee Gallimore

Mr. Francis Lee Gallimore, age 67 of Puryear passed away Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at St. Thomas West Hospital in Nashville. His funeral service will be 2:00 PM Sunday, January 15, 2017 at McEvoy Funeral Home with Gary Collier and Benji Bona conducting the services. Burial will follow at Bird's Creek Cemetery in Whitlock.

Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 PM on Saturday and after 12:00 PM Sunday until service time at 2:00.  Pallbearers will be Brandon Gasper, Jeremy Myrick, Chris Presson, Doug Brockman, Jamie Myrick, and Rodney Littleton. Honorary Pallbearers will be Alan Presson, Marty Valentine, and Brett Pugh.

Francis Lee Gallimore was born November 11, 1949 to the late Gervis Macklin Gallimore and the late Donnie Ilene Orr Gallimore. On May 14, 1971 he married Glenda Presson Gallimore who survives in Puryear, Tennessee. He is also survived by one daughter, Jill (Jeff) Hill of Puryear, TN; two sons, Kevin (Jamie) Gallimore of Sharon, TN and Gervis (Candi) Gallimore of Paris, TN; one daughter-in-law, Traci Coleman of Paris, TN; one brother, Tellus "Mackie" (Wanda) Gallimore of Puryear, TN; seven grandchildren, Tori and Raegan Hill, Kaine Gallimore, Cody, Lucas, and Brooklyn Coleman, and Brandy Oliver; four great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
Besides his parents, Mr. Gallimore was preceded in death by a son, Timothy Coleman; and two brothers, Dorris Milton Gallimore and Darron Gallimore.

Francis Lee Gallimore was an avid outdoorsman. He coached baseball and softball and was the president of the Henry County High School Rodeo Association.

Hubert Holcomb

Hubert H. "Butch" Holcomb, age 59 of Paris, TN, died Thursday, January 12, 2017 at Vanderbilt Medical Center from a sudden illness.

Butch was born January 24, 1957 to Parents, Ruth & Arlee Laird of Paris, TN. He is also survived by a Brother, Frank (Tammie) Holcomb of Buchanan, TN, and  Brother, Mike Holcomb of Houston, Texas.   He was preceded in death by sister, Pam Gatlin in 2010

His body is to be cremated with a Memorial Visitation to be  Saturday, January 14, 2017 from 1 - 2 pm at Ridgeway Funeral Home with a Memorial Service at 2:00 pm.

Odell Lancaster

Odell Lynn Lancaster, age 86 of Paris, died Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at his residence in Paris.

 

Mr. Lancaster was a member of New Bethel Church of Christ and was a retired mechanic for TVA after working 25 years.  He was a US Army Veteran of the Korean War.  He worked for many years with “Rescue Our Cemeteries” restoring cemeteries in LBL in TN and KY. He worked closely with TVA and the Forestry Service to help preserve more than 100 cemeteries.   In his later years, he enjoyed antiquing, traveling and especially spending time with his grandchildren. 

                    

Odell Lynn was born October 17, 1930 in Tharpe, TN to the late Virgil Larue Lancaster and the late Melissa Howell Lancaster.

 

He was married on May 9, 1959 to Judy Hicks Lancaster and she survives of Paris.  He is also survived by one daughter, Julia (Randy) Hill of Paris, TN; one son, Alan (Diane) Lancaster of Paris, TN; one brother, Gordon (Linda) Lancaster of Paris, TN; 10 grandchildren, Kimberly Hill, Crystal Akers and husband Michael Carr, Russell (Amber) Hill, Ben (Renee) Akers, Alan (Kandace) Lancaster II, Alex Lancaster, Ami Lancaster and fiancé Koby Perry, James (Jamie) Williamson, Sara Williamson, and Luke Williamson; and 15 great grandchildren.

 

Besides his parents, Odell Lynn was also preceded in death by a sister, Clorice Wimberly; and a brother, Larue “Bitsie” Lancaster.

 

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St, Paris, TN.   There will be a private graveside service on Friday, January 13, 2017 at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Paris with Jerald Sykes officiating. 

 

Pallbearers will be Alex Lancaster, Ben Akers, Koby Perry, Michael Carr, Russell Hill, Greg Hicks, and Kevin Lancaster.  Alan Lancaster II and Robert Herndon are named as Honorary Pallbearers.

Bob Bowen

John Robert “Bob” Bowen, age 81, of Paris, TN, died Tuesday January 10, 2017, at St. Thomas Midtown Hospital in Nashville, TN. 

 

Bob retired from the U.S. Air Force as a T/SGT, and was a member of the VFW Post 1889.  He was a member of the Dresden Elks Lodge and the American Legion.  He was a former chairman of the W.G. Rhea Library Board, and a member of the Paris Alcohol Board.  He was also a member of the National Rifle Association and the Henry County Gun Club. 

 

He was born October 11, 1935, in Paris, TN, to the late Robert Lawrence Bowen and the late Burdette Wyatt Bowen.

 

Bob was married on March 16, 1957, to Marjorie Capps Bowen, who survives. 

 

Along with his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Dawn Armstrong of Paris, TN, and Gale (David) Chilcutt of North, SC; one son, Marty (Debi) Bowen of Paris, TN; one sister, Pat (Mike) Hudson of Paris, TN; four grandchildren, Olivia Bowen, Mandy Glass, and Kane (Jackie) Bostick, all of Paris, TN, and Chelsey Armstrong of Milan, TN; seven great-grandchildren, Dalton Stone of Jackson, TN, Julie Glass of Paris, TN, Santana Jones of Knoxville, TN, Maddox Jenkins of Paris, TN, Alexis Bostick of Paris, TN, Addie Bostick of Paris, TN, and Alyssa Sparr of Milan, TN.

 

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St, Paris, TN where visitation will be Friday January 13, 2017 from 4 pm – 7 pm, and Saturday January 14, 2017 from 9 am – 10:30 am.  The funeral service will be at 10:30 pm at LeDon Chapel of Ridgeway Funeral Home with Don Williams officiating. 

 

Serving as pallbearers will be James Dudley, George Shankle, Scott Rodgers, Charlie Cuthbertson, Carl Tanner, and Dustin Hudson.

 

Named as honorary pallbearers are Royce Austin and Mike Hudson. 

 

Burial will follow in Bird’s Creek Cemetery.

John Webber Sykes Jr.

John Webber Sykes Jr., age 93 of Paris, TN, died Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at Plumley Rehab Center in Paris.

John was a longtime member of Maplewood Baptist Church and he was a US Army veteran of WWII.  He was a retired Dock Supervisor who worked for Time D.C. and Milan Express in Paris, TN.   After retirement, he also worked part-time for Commercial Bank.  He was a former Elks Lodge member he enjoyed golfing.

John was born April 22, 1923 in Humboldt, TN to the late John Webber Sykes Sr. and the late Agnes Glover Sykes Nunn.

He married Helen Hogan Sykes on June 8, 1946 and she survives. She resides in Benchmark of Puryear where they were lived together until a recent illness.  He is also survived by one daughter, Sylvia (Howard) Goldberg of Louisville, KY; and one son, John W. Sykes III of Paris, TN.

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St, Paris, TN where visitation will be Thursday January 12, 2017 from 1 – 3 pm with the funeral service at 3:00 pm Thursday, January 12, 2017.  Gary Doughten and Corey Cain will officiate.

Burial will follow in Memorial Cemetery in Paris, TN. 

Steve Henderson

Jerry Stephen “Steve” Henderson, age 60 of Paris, TN, died Sunday January 8, 2017 at his residence.

Steve was a retired millwright for General Motors in Warren, MI and a former UAW member.   He enjoyed ice fishing with his son.

He was born September 23, 1956 in Paris, TN to parents, Jerald Lamar “Jerry” and Martha Loy Snyder Henderson of Paris.  Steve was married on April 9, 1977 to Juliana Phillips Henderson and she survives of Paris, TN.  He is also survived by one son, Justin Tyler (Colleen) Henderson of McComb Township, MI; and one grandchild, Clara Jean Henderson.

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St, Paris, TN where visitation will be Thursday January 12, 2017 from 11 am – 1 pm with the funeral Service at 1:00 pm at LeDon Chapel of Ridgeway Funeral Home with Dick Cochran and Dale Gallimore officiating.  Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. 

Burial will follow in Rose Lawn Memory Garden.

Carolyn Jane Donnelly

Carolyn Jane Donnelly, age 88 of Buchanan, TN, died Sunday January 8, 2017 at her residence.

Jane formerly attended East Wood Church of Christ and currently attended VanDyke Church of Christ.  She formerly worked at Salant and Salant Shirt factory.  She retired from Commercial Bank in Paris after more than 20 years of service. 

Jane was born April 14, 1928 in McKenzie, TN to the late Atlas Lindsey and the late Lotterine Carter Lindsey.  She married Al Donnelly and he preceded in death on September 1, 1977.

She is survived by one daughter, Linda (Wayne) Ham of Whites Creek , TN; one son, Gary T. (Teresa) Donnelly of Clarksville, TN; four sisters, Betty Conger of Henry, TN, Myra Hurst of Manchester, TN, Jan Clapper of Springfield, TN, and Judy Gammon of Old Hickory, TN;  three brothers, Joe Lindsey of Bell Buckle, TN, David Lindsey of Mansfield, TN and Roy Lindsey of Gallatin, TN; four grandchildren, Eddie (Crystal) Donnelly, Charlie Donnelly, Eric Donnelly and Chris Donnelly; and five great grandchildren, Victoria (Hunter) Lee, Joshua Donnelly, Harley Donnelly, Andrew Donnelly, and Jayden Donnelly; and 2 great great grandchildren.   

Besides her husband and parents, Jane was also preceded in death by two sisters, Margaret Harris, and Jeanette Williams; and two brothers, Atlas Lindsey Jr., and Jim Lindsey. 

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St, Paris, TN 38242.  Visitation will be at Ridgeway Funeral Home Tuesday, January 10, 2017, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., and on Wednesday January 11, 2017, from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at VanDyke Church of Christ.  The funeral service will be Wednesday January 11, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. at VanDyke Church of Christ with Roger Banks officiating.   Pallbearers will be family members.

Burial will follow in VanDyke Church of Christ Cemetery.  

Robert LaBare

 

Services for Robert “Bob” Duane LaBare, 62, will be held Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at 11:00 am at Brummitt-McKenzie Funeral Home with Reverends Debra McGuire and Don Williams officiating.  Interment will follow at Pilgrims Rest Cemetery near Christmasville, TN. 

The family will receive friends on Monday, January 9, 2017 from 4:30 pm until 8:00 pm and Tuesday, January 10, 2017 from 9:30 am until service time.  Mr. LaBare, a retired Construction Pipefitter, died Friday, January 6, 2017 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.  He was born on August 7, 1954 in Middlesboro, Kentucky to Roger and Delores Hill LaBare.  He was preceded in death by his father. 

Survivors include his wife of 39 years and in May would have been 40 years Danette Scates of Henry, two daughters Rebecca (Colby) Brandon of Trezevant, TN, Lindsey (Ricky) Leaton of Lewisburg, TN, three grandchildren Sawyer Brandon, Jennings Brandon, Evelyn Kaye Leaton, his mother Delores Moelter of Trezevant, his mother-in-law Bettie Scates, and a brother-in-law Daniel Scates of Martin, TN.

 

Pallbearers who will be serving are Daniel Scates, Colby Brandon, Lynn Brandon, Justin Fowler, Michael Choate, and Michael Rayburn

Carves B. Paschall

Mr. Carves B. Paschall, age 83 of McKenzie, TN passed away Friday, January 6, 2017 at his residence. His graveside service will be held at Walker Cemetery on Sunday, January 8, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. with burial to follow. No visitation is scheduled.

Carves was born on April 22, 1933 to the late Barney Paschall and Maggie Byars Paschall. On July 4, 1953 he was married to Darlene Nance Paschall who survives in McKenzie, TN. He is also survived by daughter: Alene Walker of Jeffersonville, IN; son: Kenneth Paschall of Greenwood, MS; sister: Darryl (J.T.) Lee of Murray, KY; brother: Edward Paschall of Nashville, TN; sisters-in-law: Betty Paschall and Sandra Paschall; grandchild: Brad (Starla) Walker of Jeffersonville, IN; great-grandchildren: Emma, Haddon, Pax, and London Walker.

Mr. Paschall is preceded by sister: Evelyn (Kenneth) Ayers; brothers: George and Dudley Paschall.

Mr. Paschall was a member of the McKenzie Church of Christ. He was a dairy farmer for 47 years and loved his Jersey cows. Carves was a U.S. Army Veteran serving during the Korean War.

Raymond Wills

Mr. Raymond "Ray" Wills, age 80 of Springville passed away Friday, December 30, 2016 at his residence. His body is to be cremated and a Celebration of Life will be at 2:00 PM Sunday, January 8, 2017 at First United Methodist Church in Paris with Dr. Robert Martin officiating.

Raymond Wills was born December 4, 1936 in Glasgow, Montana to the late Reuben Philip Wills and the late Emma Helen Meidinger Wills. On October 14, 1995 he married Brigitte Sperling Wills who survives in Springville, Tennessee. He is also survived by two daughters, Bonnie Howard and Denise (Tom) Donnelly both of Elkhorn, Wisconsin; one sister, Dianne (Ed) Buckley of Kenosha, Wisconsin; four grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.

Besides his parents, Ray was also preceded in death by a sister, Faye Wills; two brothers, Clifford Paul Wills in 2014 and Darrell Wills in infancy; and a son-in-law, Michael Howard.

Mr. Wills retired to Tennessee in 2005 after 32 years as an independent insurance agent. He was in the United States Air Force from 1955-1959 serving as a Chaplain's assistant in France. He was a Green Bay Packer fan and loved his animals. He was past president of the Chamber of Commerce in East Troy, Wisconsin and a member of the Kiwanis Club for over 35 years. Ray was instrumental in starting and building the Southern Lakes Evangelical Free Church in Elkhorn, Wisconsin where his cremains are to be interred.

Malcolm Cook

Malcolm Dwayne Cook, age 63 of Paris, TN, died Monday January 2, 2017, at the Jackson Madison County General Hospital in Jackson, TN.

Malcolm was a Baptist and formerly attended the John R. Miller School in Henry County.  He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, working on puzzles, and watching wrestling.  He was a special friend to many.

Born March 11, 1953 in Paris, TN, Malcolm was the son of the late Otha Claude Cook and the late Beatrice Veltman Boyd Cook.

Malcolm is survived by one sister, Cynthia “Cindy” Cook (Michael Virgil) Noss of Paris, TN; one half brother, Claude Cook of Paris, TN; one niece, Melissa (Blake) Craddock of Paris, TN; one nephew, Russell (Amanda) Noss of Independence, KY; great nieces and nephews, Natalie Baynes, Dylan Baynes, Summer Noss, Taylor Noss, and Hunter Noss; aunt, Betty Boyd Carter of Paris, TN; uncle, Jimmy Boyd of Buchanan, TN; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Malcolm was also preceded in death by a half sister, Shirley Raney and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Ridgeway Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. Visitation will be at Ridgeway Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 4, 2017, from 11 am – 1 pm.   His funeral service will be Wednesday, January 4, 2017, at 1:00 pm at LeDon Chapel of Ridgeway Funeral Home with Russell Noss, Malcolm’s nephew conducting the service.

Pallbearers will be Allen L. Williams, Dylan Baynes, Blake Craddock, Mike Noss, Hunter Noss, and Russell Noss.  Named as honorary pallbearers are great nieces, Natalie Baynes, Summer Noss and Taylor Noss; and Betty Boyd Carter, and Nellie Canady Williams.  

Burial will follow in the Memorial Cemetery in Paris.

Kent Simpson

Kent Simpson age 76, died Monday January 2, 2017 at his residence in Paris.  Born January 21, 1940 in Paris, he was the son of the late Fred W. Simpson and the late Shellie A. Alexander Simpson. 

He married Hinda Marie King Simpson December 26, 1992 who survives.

Kent retired from United Propane. He enjoyed gardening.

Along with his parents, his sister Dorse Beatrice Simpson preceded him in death.

His body will be cremated with no service at this time.

A.C. Dunkerson

Mr. A.C. Dunkerson passed away Saturday, December 31, 2016 at his residence. His graveside service will be at 11:00 AM Tuesday at Harrisburg Memorial Park Cemetery in Harrisburg, Arkansas. Mark Weston will officiate and burial will follow. No visitation is scheduled prior to the graveside service.

A.C. Dunkerson was born March 24, 1928 in Salem, Arkansas to the late J.R. Dunkerson and the late Lottie Staples Dunkerson. On November 3, 1951 he married Sylvia Deckelman Dunkerson and she preceded him in death on May 21, 2016.

Mr. Dunkerson is survived by one son, Mike (Betty) Dunkerson of Paris, TN; one sister, Mary Day of Kansas City, KS; two grandchildren, Carly (Adam) Parke and Kelsey (Jeremy) Blanchard; and two great grandchildren, Millie Lane Parke and Maxwell Brendan Parke.

Besides his parents and wife, Mr. Dunkerson is also preceded by four sisters, Myrtle Ramsey, Johnnie Jackson, Gladys Evans, and Vada Cole; and one brother, Arby Dunkerson.

A.C. Dunkerson was a member of the Church of Christ. He retired as a postal service officer. He enjoyed fishing and woodworking and his life was centered around his family, especially his grandchildren.
